Because the lack of light makes it impossible (for me) to take decent pics, I can as well do some experimenting with photoshop.

Anyway, Miyu likes her new a bit more girly style and I'm definitely going to take more pics of her... (Niu wasn't very happy when I gave Miyu her apple-dress to wear ^^')

For some time, I've set my sights on capturing more complex exposures involving hard/contrasting light conditions - mostly because I'm too lazy to get out for the sweeter early morning light. It also requires a learning curve on my part with Photoshop as Lightroom has been my go to app for several years. Looking at some of the images on Flickr by photographers whose work I admire like, Gavin Hardcastle, flic.kr/ps/NBGMP has inspired me to experiment with blending exposures.

The mid afternoon light in this scene was terrible with the sun over/behind the falls and a grey patchy sky being blown about by gusty winds. I shot two exposures - one for the sky and one for the darker cliff walls. Consequently, the final image was an experiment to see how the two would blend together. Next is focus stacking.

panasonic lumix tz70

this morning i experimented with my new camera on the scene setting but also used the focus lever. it's a lovely camera to hold and the weight all ok ... but practise, practise, practise

i had been waiting for a panasonic lumix tz90 but there is a global shortage of point and shoot cameras petapixel.com/2021/10/15/the-camera-industry-is-trapped-d... i was on various waiting lists but no stockist had any idea when it would be available. a panasonic lumix tz70 was in stock last week www.lcegroup.co.uk/New-Equipment-Home/ i bought it rather than have a possible prolonged frustrating wait for the tz90

for many years my garden was a shrubbery flic.kr/p/Lhv9ag which i loved. a picket fence covered in an ivy hedge coming down in a storm meant that over time changes had to happen flic.kr/p/2mn2x8a i'll be glad when the trellis is covered in honeysuckle and jasmine. that's the plan ...

www.flickr.com/groups/gardening_is_my_hobby/ helpful for ideas. thank you for sharing

This is a photo taken during a video I saw in 2018 at MOMA showing the work of Bogdan Bogdanovic (1922–2010), a Yugoslav architect who made very sculptural monuments to the war dead. This is a detail from the visit of one called the "Stone Flower" and is found in Croatia.

When I took the photo during the film which was in b&w, the composite colors (panchromatic BW film?) came through and I found this transformation interesting.

Color-experiment, used: Filter Forge, Photoshop

just an experiment, manual focus stacking

I was experimenting not only with the lensball but also with the Lightroom camera that is available on the iPhone. If you are in the Lightroom app, you can actually take a RAW photo in DNG format. It even did an HDR, DNG file.

Experimenting at the weekend

I borrowed some close-up lenses from a friend but hadn't have the chance yet to test them. So last Sunday I grabbed my camera and stuff and went for a little walk. Unfortunately it was to windy for any kind of macros and nothing turned out the way I wanted it to be. Was fun anyway... And I kind of like the way this jumping jacks flowers look like. More testing is required!

on the road with science...

Experimenting with soap films is fascinating.

Thanks to "Jane in Colour" I learned how to take macro images of them.

Thank you for your wonderful idea, dear Jane!

Been getting quite a few new figs/fig parts over the past few weeks, and while experimenting with them I came up with these.

Count Vertigo: Head and torso combo goes to Killer Moth, but was then stolen by Allo :P Anyway, I just wanted to try the Apoc Hal torso on him.

Mr. Bloom: Man, I love how he turned out! :) The new Demogorgon head piece works really well.

Calendar Man: Got this head after seeing Moose use it awhile back.

Like I said, more DC stuff is in the works/already made, and will be uploaded within a few days time. And yea, I know I said I was gonna upload all the pics with the old background first :P But I’ll just re-take em with this background or something.

As always, your thoughts are greatly appreciated :)

In 1963, well-known Belgian architect Leon Stynen experimented with a technique which allowed a cantilevered facade. All of the floors and the facade of the building are held up with steel cables which are supported from rooftop beams. The design allows for a greater unobstructed interior space. It was Europe's first building which made use of "suspended construction".

The floors are supported by external cables, which allows each floor to have no internal columns. The ten floors are all similar and divided by interior wood-based walls. The facade is a type of curtain wall with metal grids.

On 5 March 2001 the building was classified as an architectural monument based on historical and architectural value. [Wikipedia]

Taken on a clear sunny day, with bright blue sky and black exhaust. Solarising filter applied during processing, partially reversing the tones. Dark areas appear light or light areas appear dark.

During this past winter, when the days were colder or too lazy to venture out, I carried out a lot of experimental shots with stuff I found around the house.. and in that process, I learnt more about exposure, depth of field and so on..

This is one of those experimental shots, the idea was suggested by my wife. Out of the many shots I took, I liked this one the most. Since I don't have any white artificial backgrounds, I used what was naturally available.. lots of snow on the deck!!!! Placed the fruits on a sheet of printer paper, sprinkled some water on it and that's about it.. Lighting: again, whatever was available, cloudy sky and whatever light reflected off the snow..

As I mentioned earlier, this is just some experimentation. However, I would like to learn tricks and techniques on making better images like this. If you have any suggestions, please pass it on either in your comments or by flickr mail..

As always, your constructive comments are always appreciated and more than welcome. Thanks for your visits, comments and faves.

Have a great weekend.

WOW!!!!!! I'm absolutely flabbergasted at this being Explored... Highest position was #2 on Explore..!!! I must be dreaming..!!!

All I can say is Thank you. If you are reading this, please accept this as a dedication.

Experimenting with colored lights, white lights and a gelled flash today. I have the sides of the bubble blocked with black cards to help define the shape. I'll share the bts on my Instagram story.

this was a fun exercise!

13 different lightning strike photos from last night. Combined in CS4, auto align (both horz & vertical at different focal lengths) smart object, maximize, and this was the result of the experiment.

Experiment in uniform brightness. The original photo is converted to all hues at brightness 75%, overlaid with edge detection drawing at 7 equally-spaced brightnesses at hue 30°. Overlaid over a white to hue 30° gradation at brightness 192. Then contrast upped with Lightroom.
