Brittany Fiore and Laurie Stuart are two of the first 12 students to graduate from the dental hygiene program at Howard Community College in May 2016. During her time as a student, Fiore practiced her skills on Stuart. With a focus on experiential learning, the program develops competencies and prepares students to manage real-life patients. With no more than 16 students admitted to the program each fall, students work on mannequins in simulation laboratories, and then progress to practicing on student partners, before advancing to providing services to patient volunteers at the Dental Hygiene Center.

The rafting expedition covered 110 Kms of strenuous paddling down River Alaknanda and Ganges. The expedition lasted for 5 Days /4 Nights covering major Rapids. Rafting started from Srinagar and ended in Shivpuri. Expedition covered activities like White water Rafting, Rescue Procedures, Survival Techniques , Disaster Management,Tent Pitching, Rationing ,Cooking ,Mobile Camping , Clean Ship, Kayaking, Treks, Making Camp fires.

The symposium, co-sponsored by Oglethorpe’s A_LAB and a grant from the Association of American Colleges and Universities, kicked off with remarks from three panels representing Service Learning collaborations in Biology, Education and the Non-Profit Minor. Centre College, having hosted two vice presidential debates, serves as a hub for political discourse in both local and global communities. On Election Day, Assistant Professor of Politics Benjamin Knoll and his students engaged in collaborative learning efforts by fielding exit poll surveys at every voting location in Boyle County.
This year marked Knoll’s third year of working on this exit-polling project, which is designed to provide an “excellent experiential learning opportunity” for students to get hands-on experience with measuring public opinion and voting behavior.
