The IMCOM Academy, building 4022 on the new IMCOM Headquarters campus at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, is expected to be complete by Aug. 1, 2011. The state-of-the-art facility consists of a student wing on the right and an administration wing on the left. The Academy will be used for IMCOM staff and personnel training and includes large and small classrooms with projectors and VTC capabilities.

Alas, it was only a Song Sparrow. We weren't planning on this tonight... Darren and the girls were on their way out the door to drum circle, when I realized, while washing dishes, that there was no hot water. Darren went down to the basement to check the water heater, and found it leaking all over the floor. We called Larry and Sons Plumbing and Heating and they had someone out here within an hour or so, and since we decided to go with the same type of unit we had before, which they had in the warehouse, we had it installed before bedtime! Besides the $1500 unexpected expense, it was a brief frustration.

We expected to have to drive back into the dunes to see any horses. These guys were all just waiting on the beach for us about a quarter mile in. Wow.

Weren't expecting to find this critter on our walk. Helen couldn't believe I had not only stopped to take a pic, but I had the "big eye" of the lens pointing straight at this 1 tonne fellow.
We got bailed up and had to hide on the other side of a clump of pandani. To be truthful, it could have walked right through them to get to us. However once it had smelled us, it shied away and moved off, still eyeing us balefully. Staying very still and quiet for a while, we became of less interest to it, and eventually were able to sneak off and proceed.
I wasn't expecting to add more pictures to this album and certainly not one of the Abominable Snowman after a bad day of skiing. Ulf is very lucky to still be walking. He and a friend went skiing at Taos and actually collided into each other going over 40 mph. Ulf broke his neck, basically. He will have to wear this brace for 3 months (hopefully the brace will continue to keep his neck aligned - if not he will require surgery.) We are keeping our fingers crossed. He fractured at least three of the Cervical bones (C7, C6, and I think C3.) I was in Seattle when this happened and when he called me he sounded like he was going to be fine and he even skied the rest of the way down the mountain after the collision. It wasn't until Sunday when I talked to him on the phone that I realized it was much more serious and had him go to an emergency room. He is doing well now but is in a lot of pain and I, of course, cut my trip short and came home.
While ski season is now over for Ulf, I'm sure he will be back on the slopes next year; only SLOWER!!!
