Wasn't expecting to see this in Dover today!, and this vehicle appears to be new at Redroute Buses in Gravesend, and a Thank You to this vehicle's driver for the freindly conversation, and all faces on board are blurred out and not shown as requested, (though I do this anyway).

And be sure to check by my other acount: www.flickr.com/photos_user.gne?path=&nsid=77145939%40..., to see what else I saw Very Recently!!

I hadn't expected to find a heart of gold in the Pacific Northwest, a region not especially known for its fall foliage, especially against the stars of the show of colors - New England, the Smokies, Colorado and the like. But over the weekend, one little corner of Washington put on a show to delight any nature lover.

The subalpine larch, Larix lyallii, are hardy deciduous conifers that grow in the alpine and subalpine terrain along the dry eastern slopes of the Cascades, characterized by short dry summers and long cold winters. And in fall, their needles turn to a golden yellow color, making even a single tree stand out against the rocky terrain ubiquitous in the area. And I happened upon an entire forest of these larches all deciding to change color at the same time.

"Bratislava (/ˌbrætɪˈslɑːvə/, also US: /ˌbrɑːt-/, Slovak: [ˈbracislaʋa]; German: Pressburg, formerly Preßburg [ˈprɛsbʊrk]; Hungarian: Pozsony) is the capital and largest city of Slovakia. Officially, the population of the city is about 430,000, however, it is expected to be more than 660,000 - approximately 150% of the official figures. It is one of the smaller capitals of Europe but still the country's largest city. Bratislava is in southwestern Slovakia, occupying both banks of the River Danube and the left bank of the River Morava. Bordering Austria and Hungary, it is the only national capital that borders two sovereign states.

The city's history has been influenced by people of many nations and religions, including Austrians, Bulgarians, Croats, Czechs, Germans, Hungarians, Jews, Serbs and Slovaks. It was the coronation site and legislative center and capital of the Kingdom of Hungary from 1536 to 1783, and has been home to many Slovak, Hungarian and German historical figures.

Bratislava is the political, cultural and economic centre of Slovakia. It is the seat of the Slovak president, the parliament and the Slovak Executive. It has several universities, and many museums, theatres, galleries and other cultural and educational institutions. Many of Slovakia's large businesses and financial institutions have headquarters there.

In 2017, Bratislava was ranked as the third richest region of the European Union by GDP (PPP) per capita (after Hamburg and Luxembourg City). GDP at purchasing power parity is about three times higher than in other Slovak regions. Bratislava receives around 1 million tourists every year." - info from Wikipedia.

Summer 2019 I did a solo cycling tour across Europe through 12 countries over the course of 3 months. I began my adventure in Edinburgh, Scotland and finished in Florence, Italy cycling 8,816 km. During my trip I took 47,000 photos.

Gotham News reports multiples homicides, all involving bite marks and scratches on an Arkham Asylum security guard and multiple other citizens, and Manbat's cell just so happens to be in pieces and empty.

I knew it wouldn't be long until he broke out, but i expected it to be longer than a week. Oh well, that's Arkham. No time, for that right now, though. Alfred says i need to get out of the house. Says people are starting to worry that something's happened to me. He's not wrong. It has been a while since I've been in public. Alot longer than the usual amount of time that people mourn a death. But i haven't been mourning...I've been seeking vengeance. Joker's going to pay for his crimes against Gotham, and against me. Oh right, gotta smile for the cameras.

When i get outside, the flashes are almost blinding. So many of them all at once. Alfred holds them back to the best of his ability as i walk to the Black Bentley that's waiting in the driveway. The chauffeur starts driving once i get situated.

After a couple minutes, when we are driving through a wooded area, the car slows down to a stop and three guys get in the car.

"What are you you doing?! Who are you guys?"

"Shut up," one guy says.

And before i know it, i get sprayed with something...crap...it's c-it's chloro--chlorof.....

I wake up in complete darkness, when a bright screen lights up in front of my face, about 20 feet or so away. I can now see that I'm in a giant concrete box, sitting in a metal chair, with my hands locked to the arms by metal cuffs. And then i realize that I'm in an electric chair.

On the screen, i see a man in a white smiley face mask with spiked shoulder plates and tech body armor. I can only see that far down. And then i notice the symbol on his chest. A cracked red skull. Anarky.

//"Hello Mr. Grayson. Or should say Nightwing?"//

"What do you want Anarky? I don't have time for this."

//"Aw, no time for me? That hurt my feelings. You need to be taught a lesson about manners!"// Suddenly i begin to feel extreme volts of electricity shocking me. The pain is unbearable.

"AAAAAGGGHHHH!!!"

//"Now, have we learned some manners?"//

"..."

//"HAVE WE learned some manners, Mr. Grayson?"//

"Yes, sir."

//"Good. Now I'm going to tell you where you need to go, and you-"//

"If you think I'm going to listen to a word you say, then-"

//"I WAS TALKING!"//

There's that shock again. "AAAAAGGGGGHHHHH!!!"

//"As i was saying, I am going to tell you where i want you to go and you will go there."//

"And why the heck would i do that?"

//"Because i left you a little...present there. *chuckles* The location of your gift is Gotham Bank. You better get there fast because there isnt much time before someone else gets it!"//

*Video turns to static*

Suddenly, the cuffs unlock and I can get up from the chair. Just then, a piece of the floor opens up in the far left corner of the room and a metal latter rises to the ceiling, leading to a manhole cover. I climb out of the room and find myself in the middle of a street. The bank is two blocks away. Great. So, i run the whole two blocks to Gotham Bank.

When i walk up to the doors, i start hearing screaming. Not just one person, lots of people. But then i hear a sound that's out of the ordinary. Almost like a giant...bat. Then i realize, someone else got my present.

Yepeee....I won in the coveted Sinulog photo contest! I never expected it considering I'm a newbie against so many good photographers around (600+) and over 7,000 entries! My year is up for a good start...I'm super elated!

Over a hundred ships and boats joined this year annual fluvial parade in honor the the Sto. Nino (Child Jesus). Its was my second time to witness such event the first time when I was just 5 years old. This time I had my camera in tow together with hundreds of photographers. I was a spectacle to see as well as enjoyable as I've met many fellow photographers from all over the world.

The fluvial procession is a reenactment of the coming of Magellan to the old Cebu Village, in particular his landing at the old beach which is now the heart of the city. Over 440 years ago, the Spaniards led by Magellan landed in the Cebu village of Rajah Humabon on April17, 1521. On the shore he planted he planted a cross which is said to be extant up to his time. Today, the city’s busiest street thoroughfare, Magallanes, is found where the cross is still preserved and now venerated as a relic. This historical chapter, Magellan’s coming, is reenacted as the advent of the new faith (www.sinulog.ph).

A sunny day expected so off I go for a last visit!

I sometimes think we expect too much of Christmas Day. We try to crowd into it the long arrears of kindliness and humanity of the whole year. As for me, I like to take my Christmas a little at a time, all through the year. And thus I drift along into the holidays--let them overtake me unexpectedly--waking up some fine morning and suddenly saying to myself: 'Why this is Christmas Day!'"

~ Ray Stannard Baker

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a year filled with health and happiness.

Little did I expect that following the Humko local back into Champaign would lead me to a triplet of IC SD70s that were set to take off in just a few minutes. My earlier temptation to leave the house had certainly paid off nicely...

IC1022/IC1000/IC1036 took off from Champaign and barreled through Tolono and Pesotum both plenty quickly thanks to the still semi-recent manifest speed increase (up to 50mph now!). Here at the latter village, the trio is found racing past the old Illinois Central depot in town, one that has been very nicely kept up. It and the rest of Pesotum offer fine views of trains like A408 as they book it down the original Mainline of Mid-America.

An IC trio to close out the year was about the perfect way to do it, I reckon. Not to mention, starting my year with the IC1000 and ending it with it? Sorta perfect, even if it wasn't up front. At least 1022 is home from the Bessemer at last! You could almost believe CN hadn't taken over here if it weren't for the yellow sill, stolen and replaced numberboards, and the second batch of SD70s cheap nose logos done during the transition. Still, close enough for me!

Tried something a little bit different then I'm used to...

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I bet you're expecting a man full of sin, one who doesn't care for moral rights or laws. One who can walk the line of both worlds, and still not be scarred. If this is what you predicted, then you're dead wrong. I do walk both lines, but both lead to different trails.

It all started with her death. Imagine a perfect day, one that makes birds sing, and you can smell the dew in the air. Two people sit under a tree, as they usually did on a Sunday evening.

Her father always wanted her to go to church. She never went until I told her to. We went together, and after ever mass, we walked to that tree, and sat just listening to the world around us.

On that day, she said those words which I could never forget.

"I love you."

This is what kills me. These words were my undoing. Fear of what could happen if I took her under my wing. I said some stupid excuse, and went home. Then I decided that I could handle it. I could love her, and that I always would.

Well, you can probably guess what happened from there.

I ran back to the tree, like I was in some kind of movie, the guy chasing after the girl. But I was too late. She wasn't at the tree. I sat down on the ground, leaning on the tree. Then, I remember seeing smoke, coming from one of the streets.

It must have been a car accident I thought to myself. It had to be. But being that "good" man I thought I was, I ran down the hill again.

Once I got down to the street, I saw that it was a car crash. A stupid biker had crashed into a red Honda Civic.

This car accident meant nothing to anyone else around me. It was just a regular crash. But I remember seeing two bodies on the ground, painted with crimson liquid.

I felt something come out of my eye. Something I couldn't fell anymore. There she was, in the middle of the street, laying lifeless. The other victim was there also.

I used to be afraid of the sight of blood. But this was her. I ran into the street, nothing mattered anymore. Cars honking, rushing by me, while I was cradling her.

I yelled to see if anyone had called the police. I screamed it. I broke out into tears. Even though it felt like forever, waiting there, they finally arrived. The men that were supposed to help the citizens were finally here.

They couldn't help her though, no. She was "totaled" in car language.

They said there was a note in the car. They guessed she was writing it while she was driving.

I looked at the letter, and saw tears all over it. I unwrinkled the paper to see this:

John. I know you've been good to me, and I thank you for this. But, you seemed like you couldn't handle a marriage, and that's when I figured out I couldn't handle one either. I figured I couldn't handle anything. We were young, that's all. For lust, I believe. I'm not even sure I ever loved you. Did you ever lov.....

That's when it stopped. A pen mark went across the page from where it stopped. They said she was speeding. A death note.

The doctor said there was nothing he could do, but yet, I knew there was. I was a religious man. Prayer was my way of getting her back. It was the only way.

I prayed on and off for months. I never left the chapel, I slept there. I prayed for answers, but none returned.

One fateful day, I awoke to see a note. No a waver. The only words on the paper were,

Love is forever, but not without a soul.

Then, a place to sign was under it. I looked around, trying to find the person who gave the note. No one was around, and frankly, I was there for years. Time flew by, and I had no idea. The church had been destroyed, but the chapel remained. And the note. To sign the note, my fate was unknown. But love fueled me. It always had.

I signed.

Have you ever felt the feelings of butterflies in your stomach? Imagine it times twelve. Then the feeling of my eyes burning, like pepper spray, but instead of the spray, I got the seeds. I saw flames form around my eyes, and skin peel from my hands.

But then she appeared. She was alive, and she was confused. I approached her, pain still in my body. She saw me once, and fled. I screamed her name, and noticed my voice was changing. More, raspy.

My clothes burned away, and the feel of leather wrapped around me. A chain made of flames slung around my shoulder.

Time to come visit.

The voice dragged me down deep into the chapel.

It seems your prayers were answered.

The voice was like sandpaper rubbing against metal. I couldn't see at the moment, everything was dark. But then I saw red. All of it. The whole world was red. It had seemed like I fell, as I was on my face. I stood up, and saw the chain on my shoulder. It was heavy.

Come John.

The voice could be heard from a distance. I didn't want to go, but my feet were moving. I dragged the chain on the ground, up the hills, and down the hills. This was the Hell he made for me. I finally saw a figure, and it stood out. White and black, while everything else was red.

John... lets see... loved Geneviève Rosa... signed the contract. Yep, you're here. Welcome to Hell.

"What is this place?"

Hm. Duh, I just said Hell.

"This is a lot worse than expected."

So you expected to come down her?

"No... that's not what I... meant."

Well, you sold your soul to... me.

"That's what that note was?"

Yeah. Sorry, the big guy wasn't responding. I tried to help you.

"You can't help me. You're the... devil."

Oh come on. What are you? Human? Wait, never mind, you aren't that anymore.

"What did you do to me?"

A holy man turned Rider. I like irony John. Oh by the way...

He whistled, and I could hear a bike. I still remember hearing that sound. Tires scratching on the sands of Hell. It arrived, and I recognized it immediately. It was the same bike that had killed her.

"Ironic."

Quite. Get on.

"I'm not your faithful believer."

Well you are for Him.

"Let me guess... Ironic."

Look, just get on. You're my Rider now. My Ghost Rider. One who walks Earth, and Hell, making people pay for their sins, and bringing them down here for me. Simple.

I tried to reason with him, saying it was unfair. She had left me, even when I saved her. She took my soul, and threw me away. It not only hurt me, but fueled me with something worse than love.

Hatred. It's what will fuel you through your journeys.

I looked at him, and I remember him smiling.

"What is your bidding."

Perfect. There is a man who brings people back from the dead. I want him... I want Otto Octavious.

I hopped on the bike, and started the bike. Flames appeared from the bike, as I fueled the bike. My hatred could fuel all of Hell. But I had a job to do. I rode my bike up a ramp (ha it's still there) and went back onto Earth. As I said, I had a job to do.

Yes, that was pretty long, but I really wanted to get the emotion in there. Anyways, you guys wanted this, so hopefully you like it!

Expecting over a foot of snow today with the whole state of West Virginia shut down, so I thought we'd try and make the most of it. We had a lot of fun but little Dolly seems to be enjoying it the most.

I expect that most visitors begin their day on the BM&LP much like I did, sitting in the truck along highway 98 waiting for when and if the train runs. When there was no action for hours I admit leaving the shot to peak into the power plant for any hint of activity and even going back to the motel to recover the drinks I forgot in the fridge. Fortunately that didn’t kill the day like it often does. They started unloading the night train just after 9:00 and were ready to leave just after 10:00. Of course 10:00 on Arizona time in May is getting to be pretty high sun but at least they ran. The reason for the railroad is the Navajo Generating Station in the background. Along with the need to supply power to growing populations in Arizona, Nevada, and California, a major factor in building the plant in 1970 was the power requirements to pump water from the Colorado River to Central Arizona. The current operators own other alternate fuel plants and have decided not to renew the lease at the end of 2019. For now no other operators are stepping forward. The Navajo Nation voted against taking over operation. The power plant and railroad are likely to close. In case things don’t change I made a one day effort to get a look after a Phoenix business trip and was rewarded with a slow start but then a full day of juice chasing. Can’t remember ever doing that before and likely won’t again, at least in North America. May 4, 2019 just outside Page Az. Thanks to FIREMAN424 and steve55126 for background on this operation that gave me enough confidence to give the trip a chance.

As some of you know I love wearing and showing off my slips.

So as to not disappoint the slip aficionados who expect me to show them off here are the slip show pictures of me in the Boscov's dresses.

The weather forecast.

A tongue-twister.

My original intent for this day was to chase 23M west with the NS 1069 (Virginian HU) on the point. However, by the time I had gotten to Harrisburg, 23M was already half an hour ahead of me. Upset and just looking to kill an hour or so, I decided to head a little further west to Port Royal.

In the back of my mind I knew that the 62V had 8102 leading, but wasn't expecting it to show. Last week I had gotten burned waiting for 62V to come east because it had gotten held up in Altoona due to track work around Antis. After about 20 minutes of waiting, I heard clear as day on the scanner, "62V Clear Mifflin". I couldn't believe it. And now I can proudly say that I can check this shot off my photography bucket list!

While walking to class this morning I glanced up the street to see Via 70 arriving at Brantford with P42 907 on the point.

I wandered a couple blocks past campus to snap a few shots on my cell phone, no hell but not bad either!

it settles upon you when you least expect it.

Wasn't expecting to find these near Maidstone!, and the ex Ipswich Buses vehicle on the left is now used by Rumwoods Gardens Farms to transport Farm workers around Langley Heath, and is used along with many other vehicles, including many ex Stagecoach Vehicles, and acording to recently updated Google Maps Satalite Imagery many other Farm Workers Buses can be found around Five Wents, Langley, Sutton Valence, Coxheath and Mereworth, all near Maidstone in Kent.

A Thank You to the Yard Owner who gave permision and allowed me to take this shot and the other shot I did here: www.flickr.com/photos/77145939@N08/51934388706/, and any truck or van registrations are blurred Out and not shown as requested, and the Leyland E228CFC on the right is in Non PCV Use and has lived in Kent for several years.

And be sure to check by my other acount: www.flickr.com/photos_user.gne?path=&nsid=77145939%40..., to see what else I saw Today!!

'Expect the unexpected' is what I have learned from three of years of landscape photography, especially on Dartmoor where the weather can be so unpredictable. Today there was no obvious sign of what was about to happen and I almost wondered if I’d sacrificed my sleep yet again. However, I had my suspicions that the early sun would provide some light and colour but perhaps not quite as impressive as this. Thank you for taking a look. Mk

The weather has been poor; we have had lots of rain, but this gent is obviously expecting things to get even worse!

Expecting a fine day with clear skies, I got up early to set up a long exposure star trails photograph. Ten steps out the front door of our apartment block, I looked up, only to see almost complete cloud cover. Oh well, I'm up now so I may as well head down to the lake and see what photographic possibilities present themselves.

The NightCap Pro camera replacement app on my Phone 6s Plus has become my favorite app for taking long exposure photographs over the past few months, supplanting Slow Shutter Cam. This image was the product of using NightCap Pro in "Long Exposure" mode to stack (i.e., average) the many individual frames that were acquired with an exposure length of 1/3 seconds over a total period of 93.93 seconds. This stacking process had 3 obvious benefits when I look at this image - (1) to dramatically reduce the level of high ISO (i.e., an ISO of 5000) random speckle noise, (2) to give the water surface a satin smooth appearance, and (3) to produce a lovely sense of movement for the clouds.

I felt a deep sense of satisfaction to have overcome my initial disappointment at seeing clouds in the sky, for still heading outside, and for coming back with a shot that actually benefitted from the overcast conditions!

iPhone 6s Plus - Photograph taken with the back-facing camera on an iPhone 6s Plus.

NightCap Pro - This camera replacement app was used in Light Trails mode, with a total exposure length of 93.93 seconds, a manual white balance of 3400K, an aperture of f2.2, a frame exposure length of 1/3 seconds, and an ISO of 5000. The output image had 4032 x 3024 pixels (12MP).

Snapseed - Cropped the image to 16:9 (panoramic) aspect ratio. Output an image with 4032 x 2268 pixels.

Photoshop Express - Applied the Sharpen filter.

ExifEditor - Transferred the EXIF data from the original photograph to the final image.

Just won an eBay dress for £0.99. Woo Hoo! That's 2 new things to try soon. A top and a dress. And another dress. No....! 3... it's 3 new things. A top and a dress and a flirty dress... and another dress. 4! 4 new things. A top, a dress, a flirty dress and a sparkly dress. And another top..... I'll come in again.

I genuinely dropped my bike on the ground to scramble for my camera to get this photo. I never expect to see stuff like this just being used out and about anymore, so to come across this was such a welcome surprise. 2 owners from new till 2018, though the current has only had it since 2022, which surprised me. Considering it still does 10k miles a year, I strongly suspect this doesn't live in London and was just visiting.

I really owe Amy a lot for this shot. She was forced to walk in front of this sign for like 20 times and I finally got, well, one quite satisfactory shot... :p She's a very professional model. And sorry, I'm a complete amateur photographer... :p

Sorry & Thank you, Amy! :****

Travelling home after another hospital visit and the realisation of some bad news. I noticed a field full of poppies I had just passed, eventually finding somewhere safely to turn around and finding a small gated lane. I quickly climbed the gate and began taking a few shots. Looking over my shoulder expecting an angry farmer to arrive and begin telling me off again for taking photographs! It's happened before and it's made me a little paranoid, is it just me or does this happen to everyone! I was once taking shots of a rape field and I though the farmer was going to attack me, he was so angry and red faced, I didn't go there again. How sad, poor man could not understand how beautiful the scene was and why I would want to take photographs, he though I was up to no good, did he think I wanted to steal his crop! Anyway I had better luck this time and not a single poppy was taken.

I expect this photograph to become my motivation in the future, on those weekend mornings when the time I've squirreled away for photography arrives and I think, at the last minute, that I'd rather stay in bed. Standing on the riverbank and waiting for the sun to peer over that treeline is such a great feeling, and watching for those few seconds where the first rays spill onto the water is pure photography joy. Yep, I'll turn to this one again and again for motivation when I need it.
