~Re: Ember's Pollies...the mini theatre one is cute, certainly the cutest of the new minis. I think the art studio might be #2, followed by the TV/pull-out couch, bunny hutch, & nursery. Although, compare that with my nursery compact (not 100% fair since mine is a standard-size and this is a mini, but still), and you see how there's no comparison between the 90s Pollys and these. It's as if the latter were designed by people with bigger, fatter, lazier hands. The originals have mesmerizing fine detail, realism, creativity. The new Pollies (no I can't decide on the spelling) have big chunks of solid-colored plastic that obscure detail, cartoonier inserts, little to no concern for scale, etc. Mom did in fact pick the best one for my birthday (the doughnut house.) This sandcastle has the coolest outer shape, plus the lower level looks neat. Many of the new ones are like that--either the upper or lower level is better, and it's tough to choose among them. I compared my beach, school, and spa with their current counterparts, and plainly...there IS no comparison. Had the current PPs been the PPs of the 90s, the line could never have been so beloved and magical. It'd just be a "cute" one that you would've had one or a few of, like Star Castle or something.
Most of the new ones do have certain cute, even adorable, elements...but on the whole they blatantly have a fraction of the effort put in. As with most things. They just degenerate over time rather than improving or even maintaining quality. And the carpeting that's not as advertised (or as pretty.) Never mind that the piano lacks black keys in the first place.
Do they think kids won't notice or care? They deserve to have the same glorious beauty I did. Polly used to be much muchier. She's lost her muchness. The generic little heart sticker sheet they threw in decidedly does not compensate.
~Ma's Primavera Haribos...damn, but she needs a bigger stocking. That itsy-bitsy thang can't even take a candy bag. >< Her jadeite salt & pepper cellars may need a label for the pepper one because they only sell ones that say "salt." WTFH. But I saved a nice label & can print it on green. My shopping/selection, gangsta-wrappin', labeling, and stickering have delighted me once again. ^3^ Especially the penguin coordination of Hunter's. x3
~That was the fun part. I need more for boys, and they are tricky af to buy for. Just got some ideas for Fred but then still need more Joe. Dx I have some trip/activity coupons for Dad and wanna go in on a new, hopefully non-squeaky/creaky office chair. Ornaments for once are an impossible choice--no clear winners in a huge bunch of 20-40, so I in my infinite brilliance say, "Why not all? Print the image of the whole group, laminate, punch a hole, et voila! 30-something cute new ormanents in one!" +D Genius.
Cooking at home means dirty dishes, a messy kitchen, and a lot of work. But it is a lot of fun, a great way to blow off some steam, and learn something new.
