After watching this little Anole lizard creep its way, ever so slowly, up the pole to check out the mealworm feeder - he finally made it!
Granted he did creep back down, then up again a few times, eyeballing the feeder each time. And just when I thought he was ready to leap inside a Wren showed up, grabbed a worm and took off!! About a minute passed before he positioned himself again as if ready to leap inside... when suddenly this Mockingbird showed up and started grabbing those worms like there was no tomorrow!
It was at this point, a mere nano-second, that Mr. Lizard decided to vamoose! Time to exit stage left while he still could. Down the pole we went and vanished.
*** However, I suspect he may have checked out that feeder later when the coast was clear. After all - it is a free meal! And who doesn't want that?

The great thing about these hikes - is that you get different experiences. Most of the hike is in the woods with sometimes streams, waterfalls, rock formations. different sound and smells.
Then once you exit the tree line you get the cool views and also a little different hiking experience too, sometimes you need all four to get to your destination.
