Looking down on people

Looking down on people is all very well but if one is to do so, then one needs a good vantage point, such as a high horse. It’s a bit like walking a mile in someone else’s shoes. When you do that, you have had some exercise, you get a free pair of shoes and the other person is a mile away from you.

I told Cleo to go out in the garden and work on her fitness. She got up from her bed, went out of the backdoor and down the stairs and flopped herself onto the lawn.

Me: Cleo .... haven't we agreed that it's time for your exercise ?

Cleo: I AM exercising !

Me: You don't ! Exercise means that you are supposed to move.

Cleo: I'm moving my eyes .... and my whiskers.

Me: That's ridiculous, Cleo ! You won't lose any weight by moving your whiskers. Get up and jog around the garden !

Cleo: Nope. I'm on a diet and that means that I'm too weak to jog around the garden. You need a certain energy input for physical exercise, you know ! Your car doesn't drive without fuel either.

Me: You still get enough to eat, Cleo, don't be such a drama queen !

Cleo: Enough ??? This morning I needed a magnifying glass to find the kibble in my food bowl ! And now leave me alone and let me continue with my ..... exercise.

Well, it's that time of the year again when things turn to all things love n mushy stuff..lol

As a man...I could live without it though...lol, as some of my mates have said...who needs a certain day of the year to show somebody you love them...when there are another 364 days in the year that can be utilised for that...a day for love...or a cynical money making exercise...you decide.....just say'n..:O))

Anyhoo...I hope everybody has a wonderfully romantic day...and for those that are alone..It's the....Hmmmmm.....Weekend....lol..:O))

On yesterday’s trip to Martins Beach in Half Moon Bay, Calif., I was jealous. Jealous of this dude jogging along the Pacific Ocean. That’s because I wanted to be the guy running, but that’s not going to happen –– my worn-out knees will not cooperate. Regardless, not a bad location to at least watch people get the exercise you can no longer do. By the way, it was fun taking this pic with my 1970s Nikkor 105mm flea market lens, mounted via a #Fotodiox adapter on my Fuji X-T1. Cheap glass, all manual and sharp.

None of us don't want to live to be 100, but how many of us? Thousands of years, how to keep figure and health is a disputed subject for men and women, and will be continued. With the general improvement of living condition and the rapid development of our social economy as well as the reducing of exercises, the share of fat people in our country has been increasing. Meeting some overweight men even children on the street has been accustomed to the majority. As well known, the fat will affect the healthy, no mention to the figure.

In order to reduce the weight, the primary method many people resort to is to take medicines or go on diet. It is conceivable that the effect is far away from satisfaction. Only relying on the diet and the drugs the side effect will affect quickly. So the experts suggest that the health way to lose weight is diet and sport. As a matter of fact, it is crucial to take enough exercises to keep health and figure. Often take part in activities after work, sound healthy and good shape will be accompanied with you.

But what kind of sport suits to you? Among sports, riding is always popularity. And according to a recent report, riding on one leg is more wholesome than on legs. Riding on one leg is an exercise with rhythmical intensity, not as riding.

Bicycle is one of the best sport equipment benefited for the hearts. Meanwhile riding prevents not only high blood pressure but also the opportunity of fat. So after exercises for some time, your figure will be more attractive. In addition, this sport can make your skills of thought stronger and your mind joyful. Except for all advantages above, riding on one leg with rhythm will consume two times energy compared to riding with even rhythm. Apparently the sport will be in favor for your weight-loss program. If grasping the intensity aerobic exercise, you can achieve twice the result with half the effort. Now this sport has attracted more and more health-conscious people.

Perhaps some people have no idea how to do. No problem. It is my pleasure to tell you how to ride on one leg. Riding on a scooter you can intermittently strengthen the intensity exercise by the leg on the cadence plate. Certainly don't try in a hurry. Two legs together with moderate intensity on the plates would be a good starting point for four minutes. Then let your left leg is on the plate for 30 seconds, with high strength cadence, and for the right leg's turn as a major power. 30 seconds later, with medium force two legs together pedal for four minutes. After four minutes' adjustment and recovery you can go into the subsequent turn.

Ok! See? It is as simple as that. Let try!

I am not sure why I left this picture alone, but I am glad I looked back to my collection and did some pretty changes here.

I have actually been looking to my entire collection. It is a good exercise. You learn quite a lot with what is working or the settings you used in the past compared to now, but most importantly, you open your mind for new ideas.

Have a good weekend.

I can think of MUCH better ways to get sweaty AND get some exercise. You wanna help a girl out?

When you are only allowed out once a day for exercise, you appreciate everything around you much more. Especially the very familiar "cutie" Long-tailed Tit"

Phew, ok last shot of the Bay Bridge. This has been an interesting little exercise. You have seen what, 9 different images of this bridge all shot in one night now? Normally I would have edited this series down to two... maybe three images tops that I would have posted. Sure, I like a lot of the others that I put up too, but they say a picture is worth a thousand words right? Which means that it is even easier to get to rambling with pictures by posting too many. In doing so, you run the risk of diluting your message. In this case, the whole series was meant to demonstrate how different cameras can present different views of the same subject as well as how even the same camera can be used differently with the same subject, and that ultimately it is up to the photographer's imagination and creativity to find interesting images. In that regard, I think this series was a good demonstration, but also at the same time after seeing so many images of this one bridge all at once, each individual image lost a bit of its impact. It became a face in the crowd so to speak. That is why the ability to edit one's work is an underrated skill to have as a photographer. Especially in this age of instant feedback and gratification, where we post images while still so excited about the moments we created them, we sometimes have our critical eyes obscured a bit when looking at our own work. It is one of the reasons I like to take so long to post images after I have created them, to give myself time to really get used to them, to know them, to let the excitement of the moment of their creation dampen down a bit and to see if it transforms into a more permanent long term excitement. But this also ties in with my personal philosophy of a photographer being a communicator, having a message they are trying to relate, and then editing their work in a way that supports that message.

But I appear to be late for work, so I had better cut this one off for now. Speaking of rambling.... ;-)

This is what happens when you wake up early to exercise. You miss the health warnings about jogging during a dust storm.

You can give without loving, but you can't love without giving.

Reach down and lift others up. It's the best exercise you can get.

Funny thing about kindness. The more it's used, the more you have of it.

You cannot do a kindness too soon, because you never know how soon it will be too late.

Love is the doorway through which the human soul passes from selfishness to service and from solitude to kinship with all mankind.

The greatest high you can get in life is by helping somebody.

Digging out gives you all the exercise you need.

"Everybody's looking for the "ultimate way". But the thing is, the "ultimate way" for each person is going to be different. That's why we have all these wars going on between people. This diet is the best, you should have kids, you should have a big wedding, you should do this type of exercise, you should drive this type of car. No. Look within first. Discover what you value, what's important to you and that will become your "ultimate way". Other people will have different ways and that's OK. That's for them. Your ultimate way is truly your ultimate way." ~ Brian Kim

Canon South Africa 550D, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Lens, F7.1, ISO 800, AV, speeds 1/800 - slightly slower sec, handheld, 4 portrait images stitched in PS. Location: Wilson's Wharf Durban, South Africa. Saturday 2 May 2015 at 06:47. I'll say it again: the 550 and 50mm 1.8 is a really entry-level kit but it continues to surprise me.

Anyway, it's time for breakfast. I think KuDta On Wilsons Wharf will be a good bet at ZAR 22 for 2 eggs, bacon/macon, 1 toast, chips & coffee. One of my photos is on their wall as wallpaper - I think this photo "I am Durban 031ZA" would look far better wink emoticon. The TIF file is a healthy 800MB.

Many times a photo will strongly suggest the best crop. In other cases, like this one, the photo is mute, and the guy at the keyboard is faced with alternatives...none of which is obviously the best.

I wanted this image to include the long antennae. That though, left an overpowering amount of orange, and reduced the size of the nymph subject. I tried a tighter crop...eliminating most of the antennae length, and centering on the subject itself. Didn't seem right AND the subject was not critically sharp.

I tried a wider crop, with a strong desaturation of the orange...but that just looked dull.

This is the one I settled on, but am not satisfied with it. Perhaps this is one of those images best NOT used at all, but I like the little critter.

In the top comment box I show the full untouched image, just reduced in file size. As an exercise, you might download it and play with some crops yourself. I would love to see a better version of the photo.

Before college life changed. . . . early morning group exercise! You've got to be young for this one!

Aarhus Ø is not the worst place to do so..... Apart from exercise, you get fresh air and a great view.

I pass this old folks rest home if I walk to the local supermarket. I just had my iPhone and used the pano function on passing cars. The building is the Yvette Williams retirement village but maybe they do exercise you a bit in there. It is named after the first woman from New Zealand to win an Olympic gold medal(1952) and to hold the world record in the women's long jump in 1954. Her early training was jumping off sandhills at our beach and two of our girls went to the same high school. It's a sunny Saturday here but have a good Friday if that is where you are.

Many Glacier Hotel on the east side of Glacier National Park. No need for an exercise room here. Just ask for a room on the 4th floor and your thighs will get all the exercise you need! The one small, antequated elevator over heats and is not often used.

Many Glacier Hotel, Built in 1914 and 1915, Many Glacier Hotel/Lodge is the largest hotel in the park with 208 rooms. Its design was modeled after Swiss chalets and the Swiss theme can be seen throughout the hotel. A fun place to stay but for me it was the surrounding scenery that was special.

I decided to explore Steveston with my fixed 50mm F1.4 lens at the noon time.

It is good exercise for photographers to practice with a fixed lens especially a standard like 50mm.

Have you heard about the Kung Fu master story in the movies of Jackie Chan? Usually the Kung Fu master will ask the young learner to bear weights on his body. Let's put 10 lbs on the hands, 10 lbs on the waist, 10 lbs on the legs and then practice your punch and kicks. You will be more powerful and stronger when you are without the weight.

Let's shoot with fixed lens and shoot in the harsh sunlight around noon time and make this your regular exercise.

You will find your best way to express yourself only by moving your feet and find the subject that will work in harsh light. Learn to adapt and live within all the limits and we will grow stronger.

I was going back to my minimalism shot. I shot the pilings and then tweaked a bit the color in Photoshop.

Have a wonderful day everyone!

„Was? Von Mausekötteln?“

„Genau das.“

„Also gut, sprechen wir über die Köttel. Was gedenkst du zu tun?“

„Herz? Naive Sentimentalität“, sagte er. „Wer soll dich beschützen? Kindliche Gemüter werden ausgenutzt...“

„Weil du ihnen deine Versicherungen verkaufst.“

„Geh hier jetzt nicht zu weit!“

„Warum verachtest du mich?“

„Was hast du da bloß wieder für einen Mist gelesen?“

„Hörst du, was du da sagst?

The Ganesha Arbitration

He opened a news magazine and she a spiritual magazine. For half of their train journey, they sat across from each other like this and each read an article with great interest. After more than a quarter of an hour, she turned the pages faster and faster and began to skim without concentrating. She yawned and looked out of the window. The couple were well dressed; he more formally and she alternatively. The slender forty-year-old wore no makeup, though her blond eyelashes were darkly tinted.

Suddenly, he shut his magazine and said, “We have a mouse in our house.”

“What made you think of that, right now?”

He quickly described his discovery of mouse droppings in the kitchen where the recycling bag sat. It’s not so important right now, he said. He had just now thought of it because he had just read an article about hygiene.

“Ganesha’s mount,” replied the woman. She had just read something about the Hindu elephant god Ganesha in which he had ridden a small mouse. Ganesha could make himself small, like a mouse, becoming in this way virtually invisible.

“Please. Let’s approach the problem with the mouse a little less poetically. This is about bacteria and disease.”

With a clever twist, she asked him if it was not more about his fear of disease, at which point he asked her to stop making unfounded allegations.

"Just good advice so that you at least re-examine how extreme your obsession for cleanliness has become. You were not this way before. You were more relaxed. "

"In relaxing, I wouldn’t earn any money. It’s enough that you relax."

"That is not enough for me. I would like for you to relax. I would like something from you—simply put, to feel that you are present."

“But what does all of that have to do with the mouse droppings? Don’t change the subject.”

“What? From mouse droppings?”

“Exactly.”

"Okay. We'll talk about droppings. What do you propose to do?"

Briefly, they discussed their responsibilities, agreeing that each would take appropriate measures, as well as discussing whether the fate of the mouse would be a snap trap or a live trap.

Silence reigned for a moment and the man was about to turn back to his magazine when the woman said that the subject of the mouse had just demonstrated his heartlessness.

"Heart fullness? Naive sentimentality," he said. "Who would protect you? Childish minds can be exploited..."

"Because you sell them your insurance."

"Don’t! Now you’ve gone too far!"

"Why do you hold me in such contempt?"

"What kind of crap did you just read?"

"Do you hear what you're saying? Have you really listened to yourself?"

"I said ‘crap.’ I'm not stupid."

"And right there’s the contempt."

"Ok. I do not accept some sentiments. I cannot comprehend what these spiritual concepts are good for. Sit and gaze inward? As if there were not enough problems out here."

"You see only a part of a whole, of which introspection is only one aspect. From there, it returns outward, in fact, to a merging of both. Introvert, extravert. Together we are one. I also know that I respect your opinion and must learn to incorporate it."

"I respect your opinions, too."

"Accept and incorporate," she said. "It’s difficult for me to act like you."

"Then we'll do it this way," he said. "As an exercise, you set the snap trap, and I, the live trap."

Translated by Cougar Brenneman – Many thanks!

Dusk comes early this time of the year. And just think — This time late tomorrow afternoon, you will be sitting at the Center Bar at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino. You will be having a Vodka Tonic to celebrate the conclusion of another Vegas Venture. This will be your final drink just before you grab your luggage and make that final walk through the busy casino to the NY-NY Porte Cochere taxi stand. Your taxi will be waiting for you. You have a 7pm return flight to catch. And this is how your Vegas Vacation will come to its bittersweet conclusion. This is an inevitable exercise you have performed for nearly 30 years.

But tomorrow night hasn’t arrived yet! 😏

So try to forgive yourself for not having the ambition to do more than grabbing a quick takeout dinner at Shake Shack and retiring up to your guest room to watch the evening national news. Try to forgive yourself should you perhaps take a brief nap before you do your final night walk of the Fabulous Strip. 😒 You don’t know what wonders may await your discovery this Friday night. So enjoy your Shake Shack dinner and enjoy your nap. 😌

If she says you lose weight, you lose weight. If she says you need to exercise, you say, "Yes, Doctor," and you exercise. You could never tell her no and will do anything to please her. Best kind of doctor.

Gentlemen, have you ever noticed how the sun sets behind the Mirage Resort & Casino during the summer and sets way down south behind Hoover Dam during the winter? Do you know that the longest day of the solar year is just three weeks away?

Good For You!

This is a resigned and bittersweet time in the inevitable course of your Solo Vegas Vacation. It's time to start thinking about going home. Your hotel check-out is set for 4 pm. You've just used your Frontier Airlines mobile app on your trusty iPhone 10 to confirmed your 8 pm return flight tomorrow night. You've just used your SuperShuttle mobile app to confirm your 5 pm New York-New York Hotel shuttle pick-up tomorrow afternoon to McCarran International Airport. This is an unhappy exercise you have performed many times during your more than 25 years of visiting the Fabulous Las Vegas Strip. That means you are beginning to make the inevitable transition from the state of being of 'Living Las Vegas' to the bittersweet state of being of 'Leaving Las Vegas!' So how do you feel now?

So gentlemen, how do you wish to spend the time you have left? What do you want to do tonight on your last night on the Vegas Strip? Whatever you do tonight -- Make It Memorable -- Because Life Is Still Good Here!

Lunch time comes around, and I make sure to avoid Flash and the rest of his goon squad as I make my way to the cafeteria. Upon entering, I spot Harry, Lana, and Cheyenne at a table in the corner of the room. It seems I got here before the lunchtime rush, as there aren't many people in here. I sit down beside Harry, and they notice me sit down.

"Hey Peter!" Lana says cheerfully.

"Oh hey Lana! What'd I miss?" I ask, stuttering somewhat.

"Not much Pete.. We were just talking about going rock climbing after school today.. As a friendship building exercise! You in?" Harry pipes up.

"Sorry Harry.. I have to go a fundraiser tonight hosted by Mrs. Hardy. Not sure why Aunt May wants us both to go, but I guess I should just to make sure Aunt May isn't alone out there.. She's still trying to set me up with Felicia as well.. So that will be just great..." I reply, with the last remark in a sarcastic tone..

"Dang dude. Sorry to hear that.. Though Felicia is quite the catch, even if her father is a murdering scumbag."

"Yeah well there's no way I'm dating the daughter of the man who killed my Uncle Ben." Saying it out loud makes me even angrier. My voice rises more and more as the sentence goes on.

Lana: "Oook then.. Let's talk about something else..." After a pause, she keeps talking.

"So Cheyenne, where did you live before here?"

"Honestly, due to business, my parents moved around a lot. Canada, Japan, Columbia, Denmark, Africa, other parts of the United States, and New Zealand to name a few. Some only for a couple of months, others for a few years." Wonder why she wastes her time stealing then, if her parents are loaded enough to travel the world.

Lana: "Wow!! That's awesome! I've always wanted to travel, just never had the time or money."

"Lana, you're missing out! It's settled then. We will all just have to take a trip sometime!" Harry replies with such enthusiasm.

"The only time you've been on vacation Harry was when you had to go with your dad that one time for a week. Besides, you told me you were stuck sitting in board meetings the whole week."

"Not cool Pete." Harry whispers to me in a joking tone.

"Dangit, you got me there Pete! Unfortunately, it's true... Which gives me all the reason more to go on a real vacation. Who better to go with than friends?"

I hear the bell ring, and instinctively get up.

"See you all later! And Peter, good luck man!" Harry says, as he grabs his backpack, and runs out of the cafeteria.

"Cya both tomorrow!" I say, as I'm about to head out for my next class. Lana and Cheyenne both say goodbye before going back to talking among themselves. You would think after learning more about Cheyenne it would make me trust her more. But there's just this feeling I can't shake. And no, it's not just that she spends her nights dressed up in tactical gear, stealing from major companies. Well whatever it is, I'll be sure to find it out next time she decides to steal. Wish I had more leads on 'Princess' as well. Oh right, I haven't called Gwen Stacy at all to tutor me either.. Guess I should be more worried about surviving tonight before I worry about all this other stuff.

The rest of the school day is pretty uneventful, with Sally Avril complaining once more in class, and with Flash Thompson trying to push my buttons during Biology. I zone him out though, as I keep to myself, writing down notes of the main points of today's lesson. When the last bell rings, I go to my locker, and grab the other textbooks I need. After that, I make my way onto the bus. After sitting down, I just look out the window, as we drive out of the school parking lot. The bus is somehow noisier than usual.. People gossiping about whose with who, and predictions for who'll get together. After 15 minutes of stopping and driving, we arrive at the bus stop on my street. I get up, and see Henry Jackson get out ahead of me. Once I get off the bus, I make my way across the street, and up the steps of the house.

Opening the door I say "Aunt May, I'm home!"

"Peter! I'm just making some dinner now. I found Ben's dress suit and pants from when he was your age. It's on a hanger in your room."

"Ok, thanks! I'll just be doing homework. Just let me know when dinner's ready and when we have to go to that fundraiser.."

"Will do. Just make sure you have a shower soon. Have to look your best for Felicia.."

"Yeah yeah ok.." Still stuck on trying to set me up.. Yay.. I take off my converse and drop off my backpack in my room, before going into the shower. Usually I like to stay in the shower for a pretty long time, but today, I really don't feel like it. After the shower I put on some clean clothes, before going into my room, and crashing onto the bed. I pull out one of many worksheets, and my textbook. I haven't even started yet, and I'm bored.. I doodle on the side of the worksheet, as my eyes try to read the textbook. How am I supposed to work on this when there's a whole slew of problems for both Peter Parker and Spider-Man? If only I could be Spider-Man full time... But that won't help Aunt May pay the bills.. Gah, let's get this over with..

In the mid-1830s, government surveyor Robert Hoddle trudged around much of our region mapping property boundaries. Hoddle also fancied himself as an artist and painted several scenes of his surroundings, especially along watercourses.

However, as Hoddle often exercised a healthy dose of artistic license in his trademark watercolours, some of the landscapes depicted in his art are more recognisable than others.

One painting that has puzzled landscape architects and art aficionados for decades is his dramatic watercolour of the Ginninderra Creek titled, Ginninderry [i.e. Ginninderra] Plains, New South Wales.

How does physical activity help your mind?

Immediate results - If you take a short, brisk walk you may feel more refreshed and relaxed. You may also find this benefit will help motivate you to walk more often and for longer.

Improved wellbeing - Being active can help ease anxiety and depression, especially when done in natural environments like parks and gardens. You may find yourself feeling happier, more confident, and sleeping better.

More opportunities to socialise - Being physically active is a great way to connect with others and build a sense of community. As you participate in more activities and exercise you might find yourself socialising more often with friends and family or perhaps joining an exercise class or sports team.

Where to Now for the Bushfire Inquiries?

The catastrophic bushfires of 2019/20 in eastern Australia are likely to be repeated with greater severity, as south-east Australia becomes hotter and drier, and dynamic fire propagation becomes more frequent. The various Bushfire Inquiries will, no doubt, recommend changes to fire-fighting, fuel reduction and building practices which have, in the past, been based on common steady-state forest fire behaviour. When bushfires become powerful enough to generate their own weather systems, however, little can be done to stop them.

The best solution is improved planning practice and bushfire design standards which take account of the latest bushfire behaviour research to locate new residential developments away from possibly indefensible locations, using a precautionary approach. As our cities grow, new suburbs on the urban fringe are increasingly built in areas where fire is an existential threat, as people optimistically choose to live near the bush, unaware of the increasing likelihood of extreme fires.

An example is the Ginninderry-Parkwood Development on the ACT/Yass shire boundary, between the Murrumbidgee River and Ginninderra Creek. This area has steep slopes to its north-west, an ideal site for dynamic bushfire propagation, resulting in wide-ranging ember attack driven by the north-westerly prevailing winds. This has been demonstrated by extreme bushfire behaviour expert, Professor Jason Sharples, and colleagues who, using modelling theory, found ember loads were 13-115 times higher in the Ginninderry area when compared with those for a known 2015 fire on the Mornington Peninsula where 32 houses were damaged all as a result of embers. In a geographic setting similar to Ginninderry, 100 structures were damaged in the Tathra fire of 2018. Ember attack or spotting is the main means of fire propagation in these cases.

The Ginninderry development complies with all current planning and bushfire regulations but these are likely to be inadequate for the bushfires of the future. If so, residents and firefighters may be unnecessarily endangered and the government might be held responsible, since the hazard was known when development was approved. Furthermore, where buffer zones are inadequate, demand by residents for more severe control burning on the steep slopes to protect housing from fires, or backburning in the event of a fire, would compromise the biodiversity values of the gorges of the Murrumbidgee and Ginninderra Creek and the associated fire-sensitive Black Cypress Pine forest, as well as threatened species like the Pale Pomaderris.

In cases like this, there is a conflict between revenue from land sales, the demand for housing blocks, and fire and environmental requirements. Consideration should be given to the extreme risks associated with dynamic fires near potential residential areas before rezoning occurs. Another significant consideration is the possibility that insurance companies will refuse to cover such areas or will make it too expensive to do so. In this situation, the burden will fall on the community as a whole, not on those who have benefited from the development.

Did you sleep well last night? 🤔

Good For You -- You haven't slept this well since your last Vegas Visit four months ago! 😌

Why are you here? 🤔

To Eat Well -- To Drink Well -- To Sleep Well -- And to celebrate your birthday!! 😀

So how well is that going so far? 🤔

Good For You!! 😁

So today is Really your birthday! But today is also the beginning of the end! And that's because your seven day Vegas Venture has come down to its last bittersweet day and a half! Tomorrow at 4pm you must check-out of your nice comfy hotel room. Tomorrow at 5pm you must catch a taxi to McCarran International Airport! And tomorrow at 7:30pm you must board your Frontier Airlines return non-stop flight home! This is an inevitably exercise you have performed since 1993! So again -- how shall you spent your remaining time here?

Climbing even higher up the 287 steps of the Scott Monument I stopped to take in the glorious view on all sides. I'm not totally comfortable on looking down from this height but if you keep your mind on the job in hand then it's fine.

The great thing about this climb is that all the platforms (there are viewing points on all sides of the compass) are open to the elements which make for fantastic photographic opportunities. Contrast the freedom this gives with London's Shard with its all-closed in and glassed views, dirty windows and reflections to ruin the photos. And the cost to go up and down in the lift there is £24 - here in the freedom of Scotland's Capital it's a mere £4 and the exercise you get is liberating.

A selection of unidentified Lothian buses can be viewed in this scene including two colour branded red-topped Gemini 2's for Service 26 coming out of South St David Street, an open topper for City Sight Seeing has the usual handful of tourists willing to brave the chill of a February day, but perhaps most interesting is the new Volvo B5TL, Wright Gemini 3 with it's roof window. This takes me right back to the days of the Alexander Alantean in the 1970's.

F/16,160th second, iso 12800 and almost no noise, no wonder Danbo is flipping out. This scene was a 1/16th sec at iso 200, but at iso 12800 i can do it hand held at 1/160. By overexposing one can drastically reduce the noise that usually appears when using high iso values, and get much higher shutter times as an added bonus.

Here is an exercise you should all try, not the one hand stand that Danbo is demonstrating, but pushing your camera´s iso all the way and compensate your exposure by +1,3 or as far as you can without burning out completely.

This is a raw image at iso 12800 compensated to + 1,3 EV, then pulled back -1,3 ( or more ) in the raw converter. It looks completely burned out in the camera, with the histogram crawling dangerously up the right side. But a raw file has plenty overhead, and stuff that looks burned out can be brought back in the raw conversion. You will have to experiment to find out where the limit is on your camera, but when you do, high iso suddenly becomes your best friend :) Do a little experimenting to figure out how far you can push it under different lighting conditions.

Since digital noise loves dark places, the whole idea is to expose your images as bright as possible and then bring the information back down in the raw converter, be it lightroom, aperture or whatever raw converter you prefer. Try, it really works wonders on any camera that can shoot raw files.

This works best in low contrast scenes like overcast days, on sunny days with high dynamic contrast it gets harder to not burn out the highlights completely. And you have to shoot in raw off course.

A very big thank you to Geir Brekke for bringing this to my attention, and hammering it into my mind.

Polaroid Pronto! RF

IMPOSSIBLE Color Film for SX70

On Saturday's I've been going to a small, out of the way park to shoot baskets and get some exercise. You see, I don't like just running for no purpose, so I decided to do all the old drills we used to do when I was on the school basketball team.

This time, though, I brought my Pronto with me as I've noticed the early morning light was doing amazing things in the surrounding landscapes.

An American Photographer on Flickr Camera Safari!

So in the meantime, while you've been having all this fun this week doing Flickr Camera Safari with your long-time Flickr Friend, has it even occurred to you that by this time tomorrow afternoon, you will have checked out of your nice and warm and comfy guest room and you will be dragging your luggage through the casino enroute to the hotel's taxi station! This is a final and very inevitable exercise you, and sometimes you and your very lovely lady, have efficiently performed throughout y'all's 28 years of 'Living Las Vegas!' So did you somehow forget that you have to leave and go back home to fuss over your job and to attend to your lovely lady? Your co-workers have struggled mightily during your absence and you need to be sure that your woman gets out of the house long enough to get her Pfizer COVID-19 Booster Shot! You know she won't get that shot unless you are there to nag her about it! And she won't leave the house unless you lure her outside!

Did you really forget that you have to go home tomorrow? 😒😧

Or were you just too busy having fun? 😏

A visit to Dennis's backyard yields one surprise after another. I happened to arrive at feeding time and was recruited to participate as much as I dared. We fed his snakes and lizards a variety of mice, rats and chicken thighs then turned some loose for sunning and exercise.

You may surmise my attention was more on protecting life and limb than on learning the proper names of each of these remarkable critters.

However, if I remember correctly, the above is a Red Tailed Boa (Constrictor constrictor) twisting around itself and its meal as it eats the large rat whole.

Thanks, Dennis!

Introduction To Your 6 Pack

Six pack abs are the holy grail of physical fitness when you ask anyone about the male or female physic. The opposite sex will like us more and people of the same sex will be envious of our perfect torso. The truth is, and many won’t tell you this is that it’s actually not that hard to get those killer abs that you crave so much. Unfortunately for men it’s much easier if you’re female to get those perfect abs.

Although women are genetically wired to carry more fat than men, because there body is naturally preparing to nourish a baby, and obviously fat helps to achieve this. The healthy BMI of a women is between 18% and 20% where as it is 10% to 15% for men.

Women also store fat in different places to men. Women tend to store their fat in Hips, Buttocks and thighs. In fact gluteofemoral fat which is stored in the butt and tops of the legs is often thought to be a sign of strong metabolic health. This is why women find it easier to get to the end goal of an amazing six pack.

Unfortunately for men. The main place they store fat is around the abdomen area which is a bit of a bummer if your goal is killer abs. The dreaded beer belly has dashed many a dream of the glorious six pack, but not to worry. It may not be as easy to get abs if you are a man but it’s certainly not that difficult if you follow the right plan of attack. Plan Your 6 Pack Here For FREE

Firstly for both men and women you need to get down to that healthy BMI we spoke about earlier. Men at 10% to 15% and women at 18% and 20%. You might be very surprised when you get here to see that your abs are already pronounced so you have already fought half the battle. The way to get to this point is to eat a healthy, well balanced diet. You need to be sure you keep your body well-nourished with the essential vitamins and minerals while lowering your BMI at the same time.

Phase 1

What Foods To Eat

Protein drinks for example are a great way to lower your BMI while still making sure you stay healthy and always feel full. This is because protein has a high thermic effect which basically means it’s difficult for your body to digest. As a result of this you spend more energy breaking it down when digesting it. To work out how many grams of protein you would need each day, you need to multiply your weight in lbs by 0.8, so for a 170lb person that’s 136 grams of protein a day.

You should also try and opt for lean meats such as turkey and chicken breast without the skin. Tuna and salmon help to keep Omega3 up and also try and keep snacks to just nuts seeds and beans. To bulk out your diet you need to stick to healthy whole grain foods which help provide carbohydrates that keep you energised, fruit and vegetables provide you with vitamins, minerals and fibre, and plenty of dairy foods which give you calcium and natural protein.

Accelerate your weight loss…

To help speed up the weight loss and get to your BMI goal you need to carry out some aerobic activities. These help to speed up the burning of unwanted calories and together with eating healthily will speed up your advance towards your killer abs goal. If you are new to cardio you must start off gradually with something easy such as a brisk walk once per day.

As we are trying to target our abdominal muscles it’s a good idea to try using what is called a sweat belt or Ab belt to help target the stomach area. The reason these are so successful is because of what they target. See how to get hold of a free sweat belt here…

Sweat Belt/Ab Belt

The simple answer to this is yes. Let me explain how. Firstly let me dispel the myth that only overweight unhealthy people sweat. The actual truth is that the healthier you are the more likely you are to sweat. So if you are determined to get to your ideal BMI you better be prepared to sweat…a lot! The reason you sweat more as you get fitter is your body needs to work harder to keep you cool.

Another more direct reason that sweating helps you lose weight is detoxification, which is directly related to weight loss. As our bodies are overloaded with toxins from pollution, poor diet, pesticides, food additives, caffeine and alcohol. Any number of health problems can occur including headaches, bloating and fatigue, but the main problems are often weight gain and cellulite. Your body holds these toxins in your fat store so it keeps them away from the body’s main organs. As sweating is the best way to release these toxins from the body then it stands to reason that excessively sweating in any given area will release massive amounts of unwanted toxins, therefore breaking down that targeted fat store while also ridding the area off access water which further helps to loose inches. As these sweat belts are designed to be inconspicuous they are really easy to wear when going about your normal daily chores. This has the added benefit that whether you are just starting on your road to fitness, or you are already an avid fitness nut you can still benefit from wearing a sweat belt as it just enhances the exercise you are already doing.

Tracking Your Progress

It’s often a great idea to keep a close track of your body measurements. Some people may go a bit too far while losing weight and this can be dangerous. To keep track of your vital statistics you can use something like a body tracking software, this allows you to measure any part of the body that you want to track and plot it in the program. As you regularly plot your measurements you see a graph developing, this allows you to easily see if you’re losing weight too fast or it gives you a massive boost as you can see in black and white how great you are progressing.

This is what we call stage one of operation killer abs. As we have already said, in order for you to see your abs developing you first need to be able to see your abs. Getting your free sweat belt/Ab belt is the ideal way to do this.

Phase 2

Now you are getting nearer to your ideal BMI you can move on to stage 2. In this section we need to start targeting our core fitness. There is no point just working on your abs without working the whole core as this can lead to a back injury. The way we make sure this does not happen is to use something designed specifically for this job.

The Ab Wheel/Ab Roller

At first glance this can look like a very simple piece of equipment. But don’t let that fool you. The Ab roller is actually an amazing piece of home gym equipment, which when used as directed can build muscle in not only your Abs but also your back which helps to build the solid core that we need.

Balancing Your Core

The Ab Roller actually works a number of muscle groups when used correctly. The major muscles worked with the Ab Roller are obviously the abdominal muscles, including the rectus abdominis (the so-called six-pack), the underlying transversus abdominis and the oblique’s which are situated down your sides. What many people don’t realise is that your lat’s, triceps, hip flexors, pectorals, trapezius muscles and glutes also will be worked with the exercise wheel, not to the extent that your core does but as your body tries to balance these muscles are used. It’s a great idea to use the sweat belt in conjuction with the ab roller to maximise results. Get them both for free here.

This is where the differences are between using the ab wheel and doing more regular exercises such as crunches and sit ups. Don’t be fooled into thinking that because the exercise wheel hits many more muscle groups, you get less of a work out on your abs. This isn’t the case. The ab wheel will target your abs and your back while also hitting other smaller muscle groups which get a work out trying to keep your weight distributed correctly.

Ab Wheel Exercises

The traditional way of using the ab wheel is to grasp it in both hands and while on your knees you roll out forward until you reach the plank position. You then reverse that and roll back to your start position without arching your spine. If you want to target a different muscle like your oblique’s then you can roll out at a slight angle. When you have been using it for a while you might want to up the intensity by starting from a standing position. You reach down and grab the ab roller and roll forward from there all the way out to the plank position. You then reverse this as before till you are back in your original pose. Again please regulate the amount of sets you do when you first get started. You will be amazed at how good this works and over doing it at the start may slow down your overall progress.

Phase 3

Ok so now you are at your ideal BMI and you have been ripping it up for a month or so with the ab wheel. You can now see some great definition in your abs and your body generally. Don’t forget the ab wheel hits lots of muscle groups so you WILL notice that lots of your body is getting much more defined. Hopefully you have remembered to keep a track of your progress using the body tracker software we spoke of earlier. Not only will this keep you going when you sometimes feel like you don’t want to work out. Also when people start noticing how good your new killer abs look they WILL be coming over asking how you got so ripped in such a short space of time. Having the data to show people how quickly you progressed might just give them the incentive they need to start and do the same. What better way to top of your new body than helping someone else also achieve theirs.

But were not quite done yet…

Electronic Muscle Toning Belts/Electronic Ab Belts (EAB)

Let’s start by explaining what the electronic ab belt does. Many people think that the electronic ab belt does the same job as the normal sweat belt/ab belt we spoke of in phase1. This is definitely not the case. While the normal ab belt is designed to help you lose the fat around the waist by causing a sauna effect that is concentrated around your tummy while working out, and has the effect off stripping back the unwanted fat so you can actually see the abdominal muscle.

There are certain people that will tell you that the electronic ab belt will get you killer abs in no time by sitting on your backside while eating cakes and sweets. Unfortunately this is not the truth. In fact it’s rubbish. I won’t insult your intelligence by telling you there is a miracle way to acquire your killer abs without any hard work what so ever. There is however a free way to aquire an Electronic Ab Belt, see here.

What I can tell you is this, electronic ab belts do work for the purpose in which they were made. They were designed to target the muscles which other ab exercises find difficult to reach. Firstly the EAB will stimulate the rectus abdominis (6 pack) and the oblique’s on the side of the body which are notoriously hard to work and help shape your waist, it also hits your transversus abdominis which are deep within the abdomen. The EAB is is used to polish all the hard work that you have already put in when using your normal ab belt and working through the phases using your ab wheel as well.

The EAB is an entirely different piece of equipment. Although it is used to get to the same end goal as the normal ab belt, the EAB has been designed to reach certain muscles which are ordinarily really difficult to work and it does this by using electronic impulses. Although we can use the ab wheel to target the muscle groups in general the EAB can laser target the muscles what want to be most pronounced.

Benefits of Using Muscle Toning Belts

So what are the benefits of using the EAB? Firstly let me emphasize that the EAB is not a substitute for healthy eating and plenty of exercise. However in today’s modern world finding the time to fit everything in is very hard and unfortunately looking after our bodies often comes bottom of our to do lists. The EAB allows you to still work those abs while doing other more mundane tasks such as cooking or shopping. You can even wear it at work so you can still put some overtime in or wear it at home while watching television. So as you can see the EAB is a fantastic way for busy people to still commit to their health and fitness while keeping up with whatever today can throw at them.

I hope the above article has been of help to you in your quest for the perfect abs. Please remember that although using the equipment we have recommended will get you your perfect killer abs, it does require some hard work on your part too. Remember to keep track of your progress using the free body tracker software so you can remind yourself how well you are doing if you ever feel like giving up.

Most important: Please read and adhere to all the instructions that you receive with your ab equipment. Saving 5 minutes at the beginning and not reading instructions could end up with you getting hurt and having to postpone showing off your killer abs…

Perimenopause occurs prior to menopause when you begin to experience the symptoms of menopause but you still have your monthly period, even if only sporadically. Estrogen levels fluctuate wreaking havoc on the body and include increasing fat levels, especially around the mid-section. It is possible to lose weight during perimenopause by working around the factors associated with aging and loss of estrogen.

Reduce Stress

Lower levels of estrogen increase stress on the body. Increased stress levels increase levels of the hormone cortisol. Cortisol is responsible for fat accumulation around the mid-section. You can reduce stress with a healthy and balanced diet, relaxation techniques, such as yoga or meditation, exercise, hiking, or whatever else helps to relax you. Drinking alcohol may increase cortisol levels so should be used only in moderation.

Eat Less

The body needs less calories as it ages to function properly. Once perimenopause begins, calorie needs may drop. It might help to determine your daily calorie needs. This can be done with a baseline calorie calculator. You enter the proper numbers and the calculator does the rest. You need to burn 3,500 calories to get rid of one pound of stored fat. Take your baseline calories needs and subtract 500 to find how many calories you should consume daily to lose weight. However, you should never eat less than 1,200 calories a day for proper health and nutrition.

Do Yoga

One reason for weight gain during menopause might be a decrease in activity levels. By doing Yoga or exercise, you not only burn calories but reduce stress as well. It is important to note that you cannot exercise away just belly fat as fat levels decrease evenly throughout the entire body. Aim for getting at least 30 minutes of moderate activity in each day for at least 10 minutes at a time, even if it is just enjoying a short walk.

Engage in Strength Training

Strength training may include the use of weights or simply your own bodyweight in order to increase or maintain muscle mass. The body burns muscle more quickly than fat, especially as you age. This lowers metabolism and increases fat stores in the body. By increasing muscle or at least preventing its loss, you can increase your metabolism to burn more fat. Strength training has the added benefit of increasing bone mass and reducing bone loss that might lead to osteoporosis.

Sleep More

Like eating, the body needs less sleep as you age but it is still important to get enough. Reducing stress and exercising will help improve your sleep. Sleep is essential to the weight loss process nearly as much as diet and exercise. Adequate sleep reduces snack cravings brought on by fatigue and allows your metabolism to work more effectively to burn calories. Source:Wellness . Loving this justification:

To increase your exercise you should choose a fishing spot roughly a 10 to 15 minute walk from your car to boost your aerobic exercise.

Setting up your fishing gear, casting off and then winding in hundreds of small fish calls requires strength.

If you find a larger fish such as a pike or carp, this will require even more strength, engaging your shoulders, back, arms, core and legs.

In particular, your arms get a workout during activities such as casting, rowing and climbing which work the small and large muscles in your hands, wrists, forearms, upper arms and shoulders.

You should ensure to use the correct posture when wading because it will help to strengthen your lower back muscles, while fighting fish and casting will improve your upper back and shoulder muscles.

Fishing works your core by making you work to stay upright against the force of water which tightens against your abdominal muscles as you fight for balance.

Additionally, walking across rocks can help build on your core.

Your legs will improve as you walk to your fishing spot as well as when you negotiate strong currents and balance on slippery stones.

Fishing is also deemed good exercise for your mental health and wellbeing.

On average, you burn roughly 200 calories per hour when fishing.

When you start your day with exercise, you feel happy.

Did you start?

Do you travel often? Or would you like to travel without taking any means of transport? Then, you have to learn a rare psychokinesis or psychic ability called “Levitation”. Levitation is the psychic ability of the mind to rise from the ground and float on air. The word “levitation” is derived from a latin word “levitas”, which means “lightness”. Levitation, like any other psychic ability, requires a strong will power and focus to achieve it. Whenever we hear about performing levitation, we remember those famous magicians on TV shows who levitate very easily. There are many people and magicians who claim to levitate, but what they do are just tricks. They create an illusion in the eyes of the public and makes them to believe that it is a true levitation. But in fact, these are fake. But, there is no need to worry for you, because levitation do exist in real. Since it can be performed by very rare psychic people in real, people are not aware of its existence. Like any other psychic ability, this too has no scientific explanation and thus doubting the existence of this phenomenon. There are many monks, yogis of India, and many psychics all over the world are able to do it but there is no scientific evidence for these. Many records of course, which are unscientific and unofficial, states that levitation is rare and spontaneous activity, although some can levitate at will. Even in our history, there are some famous people who were able to levitate. Some of them are Daniel Douglas Homes, Buddha, and even Jesus. To train in levitation, you have to clear your mind and connect more spiritually. A normal meditation may take a lot of time to achieve levitation, but Transcendental meditation is more beneficial. Anyhow, one has to start with a normal breathing practice and then move on to advanced levels of meditation. Performing levitation is not a quick process, but it may take years. Mastering the art of levitation requires discipline, patience, will power and concentration. n order to practice levitation, one must follow some routine things in his or her life.

Things to remember to learn Levitation:

1. Clear your Mind : The first step is to clear your mind. You can do either Transcendental meditation or start with any other meditation technique. Transcendental meditation is a simple and effortless technique to calm your mind, increase creativity and enhances your brain functions. You can even do a Psychic meditation which helps in developing your psychic gifts.

2. Exercise : You can do exercise or better do yoga which stretches your body and helps to relax.

3. Get proper Diet : Be aware of your foods taken. Proper hygiene food is necessary to purify your body. Psychic gifts are easily flourished in a purified body. Also a proper rest to be given to your body.
