With the summer heating afternoon Arizona temps well above 100F (over 40C) Japser needs some indoor exercise. Lucky we have this recumbent exercise bike. I told him that the bike helmet might not be necessary on a stationary bike and dogs don't sweat, so the towel may not be necessary, but he's got stubborn streak. No harm I guess.

A Swedish Army Leopard tank crossing open ground during Exercise Aurora 23. Sweden has played host to an exercise involving 26,000 personnel from Sweden and various NATO countries. Exercise Aurora 23 was aimed at helping Sweden defend itself in case it was ever to come under attack. The exercise took place throughout Sweden, but primarily in the southern parts of the country and on Gotland.
NATO Allies that took part included Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Portugal, UK and US.
They trained alongside the Swedish Army, Swedish Navy, Swedish Air Force and Home Guard. Exercise Aurora 23 ran from 17 April to 11 May 2023.
The Niagara Escarpment runs through Hamilton and several large staircases have been built to connect the lower and upper portions of the city. Often people do their exercises by climbing up and down the stairs several times. This boy's hockey team climbed this staircase (over 250 stairs) ten times this evening.
Pictured is a member of C Company, 3rd Battalion The Parachute Regiment patroling across the Caylus training area during Exercise Falcon Amarante.
British and French paratroopers are showing their readiness to deploy together on joint operations.
Across two demanding weeks in November, south west France saw Exercise Falcon Amarante testing the Airborne Combined Joint Expeditionary Force (A-CJEF) 校 partnership between 16 Air Assault Brigade and 11e Brigade Parachutiste.
The two brigades provide the airborne rapid reaction forces for their respective armies, and the A-CJEF has been trained and ready since 2013 to deploy on short-notice operations ranging from war fighting to disaster relief.
Exercise Falcon Amarante is the A-CJEFⳠannual test exercise, taking place in 2018 under 11e BPⳠcommand. Some 650 British troops and 170 vehicles of the 3 PARA Battlegroup - built around the airborne infantry of 3rd Battalion the Parachute Regiment bolstered by artillery, engineers, medics, signallers and logisticians took part.
British troops were paired with the 3e Regiment de Parachutistes d≮fanterie de Marine as the A-CJEF, with US paratroopers from the 173rd Airborne Brigade working alongside it.
After mission planning and reconnaissance, the exercises started in earnest with some 600 British, French and US paratroopers jumping onto the Caylus training area near Toulouse. From there, a series of simulated missions tested the skills and capabilities of the 2,000-strong force.

A professional fighter training at the Old School Gym in Tucson.
I had the opportunity to shoot for Old School Gym last week. They needed something to work with their new website that's coming later in March. These images will be used as page illustrations to keep the theme of the site focused on the traditional fighting gym to separate it from the rest of the gyms in Tucson.
The theme was low key lighting and high-energy Old School fighting. I decided to go with black backgrounds, high contrast, and low colour saturation to keep a modern look but an almost vintage feel. I wanted these guys to look as tough as they are and convey the energy of the sport. Old School Gym trains boxers and Martial Arts/ UFC fighters.
I wanted to illustrate the energy more than focus on the individuals -- this way over time as the faces changes at the gym change, the photos are still current.
Shot with a small softbox on either side of him, just behind his shoulders. The lack of lighting on the eyes in these photos was intentional to remove the human 'portrait' feel and protray the energy and intensity of the sport.
I have been writing about my photoshoots on my website, www.maranaphotography.com
