Dark and devious storm clouds gather ominously over a vast green cornfield, creating a dramatic contrast with the sky. The horizon is lined with dense clouds, wall cloud in fact, however it would not produce one here as this storm lowest level winds were being undercut for the moment.

Hot rodding became a big game shortly after the original Sled-series by Vapid was introduced. However, it took some time for the rodders' scene to notice a vast potential of modifying 10-year old Sledgehammers.
One of the most popular Sled conversions was usually based upon Tudor production model with some extensive modifications, such as shortened wheelbase, slightly chopped roof, new custom-made rear end in order to incorporate new rear axis with limited slip differential and bigger tires. Either stroked Vapid V8 or then-new FlameMight Schyster V8 were a popular choice for these vehicles, often supercharged. "Exclusive" name was retroactively given to them by fans to associate it with the actual Sled-series trims (Elemental, Executive and Excelsior).
Black and purple - Vapid Exclusive Fastback, basic modification of Sledgehammer Tudor with stroked twin-carburetor Vapid V8.
Red and black - Vapid Exclusive "Black Betty", a custom-made Fastback, incorporates modified front end and new paintjob. Powertrain - supercharged FlameMight Schyster V8 engine with external blower.
Azure and white - Vapid Exclusive "Old Blood 'n' Guts", modern hot rod project based on 1949 Powersleigh pickup truck. While cab itself and wooden cargo area were completely overhauled to fit the new wheelbase, engine remains the very same which was installed on the factory - Vapid V8, rebuilt with new reinforced parts and supercharger, hence the project name.

The amazing, fantastic Mold-A-Rama machine. When I was a kid in the 60's, you frequently saw these at tourist traps, museums, zoos and that sort of thing. If you've never seen one in action, you've really missed something. The smell of hot plastic, watching the mold come together, hearing the noise of the hydraulics and pumps... ahh, damn. It was SO cool. I would beg my Mom & Dad for money to get whatever toy one of these made. (They usually made something relating to their location, and often you had two choice of what you could make.)
There's not a lot of these left, and the company that made them went out of business in 1972, but was carried on by others. There's maps and websites that'll tell you where to find a machine. I suggest you find one and treat yourself to an "exclusive product molded in colorful plastic" as soon as you can. (This one is located in the Museum of Science & Industry, Chicago, IL.)
