As part of the final project for P&DI at NCAD in 2010, I photographed a variety of people with the aim of splitting their faces and rejoining them using PS.
The original face is the one in the middle of all the images, the rights and lefts are joined on those sides of each set of 3.
The main idea was driven by a desire to show that the asymmetric face we all have is our face and we should try to leave it alone and not to change it.
Our good side, as some people generally refer to as the side they project most is something that I tried to focus on in this project. By joining the sides of the face together in 3 separate individuals appeared but which face did they prefer before the experiment and which face did they like after it.
Unfortunately time ran out and I only got to photograph about 20 subjects so the experiment is not closed out yet.

Here's an example of a place in south-east Oahu. There's a reef near the lush landscape and water that's a color that I didn't manipulate in any way.
I took this photograph at the time thinking, "Well, that's interesting," and I never bothered to write down where it was. The location wasn't rare or hidden as anybody could go here. It wasn't until later that I saw how pretty it was.
That's the thing about Hawaii. I wonder if the locals get this way, where after a while, the constant exotic and the extraordinary scenes become just common and you'd stop noticing it.

In this part of the project, I reviewed information about Gestalt Principles in design and identified visual examples of them. This is a clear example of emphasis in similarity. All of the shapes are exactly the same in color, size, format, except for one which is yellow. The viewers eye goes right to the different color because it is the only different thing.
