Extract from City of Nanaimo Heritage Register:
Built in 1951, City Hall is an excellent example of and Nanaimo's first venture into the International style. Designed to project progress and modernity, the International style was the appropriate choice for a municipality striving to overcome its image as a dirty, depressed coal town and present itself as a forward looking city. A sympathetic 1970 addition on the north side respects the original building's architectural integrity. The exterior and interior are largely intact.
City Hall is significant because of its association with architect Thomas B. McArravy. One of the pioneers of the use of modernism on Vancouver Island, McArravy was Nanaimo's most prominent architect for many years. City Hall has survived in near pristine condition, a testament to the integrity of the original design and McArravy's skill.
Architect McArravy was born in Glasgow in 1900; after moving to Canada he served four years at the Wallace Shipyards in North Vancouver, first as a loftsman and later in the drawing office. Starting in 1921 he started work as an indentured student in the offices of Gardiner & Mercer in Vancouver. He later moved to Nanaimo, although he was in Vancouver during the war years. As early as 1940 McArravy was preparing plans for this building; these first schemes bear a remarkable similarity to what was actually built after the war.
The gardens at the side and front of City Hill were designed at the same time as the building and are integral parts of the site?s value. Situated on a high rocky outcropping, the extensively landscaped grounds soften the rigid formality of the building?s architecture. The winding roadway that leads to the front entry provides a welcoming entrance, appropriate to a public building.

Great example of what a wall display can look like! I wish we had done this! (but we could)

These ear ornaments known as hakakai are from the Marquesas Islands in Polynesia. These examples are carved from whale teeth. Smaller ones have been found made from pig’s tusks. Hakakai were worn by both men and women on special occasions. They are made from two carved pieces joined together with a bone pin. The curved spur is inserted through a hole in the ear lobe from the back to the front. The flat disc is then attached to the spur and is displayed on the front of each ear. On this example there is a small carved tiki (human image) on the spur acting as a stop keeping the hakakai in place in the ear.

This is an example of the types of lines that can be drawn with a Wacom-enabled tablet and MS OneNote. (The only modification I've made outside of OneNote is cropping the drawing.)

An example of decent packaging, a nice design motif and copy.
This label acts as a seal for the lid, with ingredients list on the other side. All pots for all flavours are the same with just different labels and lids.
(von Restorff Effect) The bags of Victoria's Secret are bright, striped, and pink as well as a unique size, making them stand out compared to any other store bag. If someone has bought something from that store, you can immediately tell by the bag, even from far away. (This picture is not mine.)

I love that my dual monitor setup cost me nothing, and that I can say I rescued them both from a dumpster. Yet they really aren't quality monitors any longer.
Left is a cheap old 15" Princeton, right is a tired old 17" Sony.
I really like having two displays to edit photos with, the tools go on the left, and the picture on the right. I just have to keep in mind the zones of intensity and color distortion.
It is critical to know that your website visitors, clients or a group of people you intend to get to with your marketing strategies examples are. This is an example for cuves adjustments in different color spaces. The original image has been processed with a curve that compresses the highlights and expands the mid- and shadow tones in both examples.
You can see that in RGB color space the color actually changes because of the compression, where in Lab you can just adjust the luminance curve and color stays the same.
Since in Lab the expanded midtones loose saturation in this process, saturation was added later.
This allows bright and saturated colors, closer to the original, without color channel clipping.
This is especially useful if your output profile is sRGB, since the "highlights headroom" is quite small there.
The Bradfordville School is a one-room school house built c. 1884-1893, where many generations of children, in elementary to eighth grade classes, received their primary education. It is an example of one-room schools once scattered throughout the area that gave rural children educational opportunities that would otherwise not have been available. The school is a wood frame vernacular structure with a whitewash exterior. The majority of the windows are six over six double hung sash wood. Now gone are two outbuildings used as restroom--one for girls and one for boys. The school was originally located at the intersection of Thomasville and Bradfordville Roads on property owned by the Lester family. In 1906 it was purchased by the Leon County Board of Public Instruction for the sum of $1.00. Declining attendance forced its closure in 1930. In 1940 ownership was transferred to the Leon County Commission. The building has been moved twice in an attempt to preserve it. The first move was in 1997 when a road expansion was planned for Thomasville Road. The second was in 2005 when the land was sold and it was moved to its present site. The building is currently used as a community center under the management of Leon County.

The example here is unique as it shows the luxurious interiors which were configured for Royal use by His Majesty The Sultan of Oman Qaboos bin Said Al Said who generously gifted the aircraft to Brooklands Museum on its retirement. It was built by Vickers-Armstrongs (Aircraft) Ltd and first flown from here on 17/10/64. Delivered to British United Airways at Gatwick, registered G-ASIX, it passed to British Caledonian in November 1970 and was sold to the Omani Government in 1974. After refurbishment at BAC Hurn, it was operated as ‘A40-AB’ by The Sultan of Oman’s Royal Flight at Muscat, and was the last civilian operated VC10 in service. Its final flight was from Muscat to Brooklands via Heathrow on 6/7/87, crewed by Officers of the Omani Royal Flight and with His Excellency Hussein Bin Mohammed Bin Ali (Omani Ambassador) and Sir Peter Masefield (Chairman of Trustees of the Museum) as passengers.
