Prawda życiowa z wiaty przystanku autobusowego w farerskim Hvalvík

This is a spin on DigiDare #23. I asked Erick how he would describe me in one word. After a few joke words (Cromulent??) he settled on the word "Perfect". This then resulted in a discussion with me saying that no one is perfect, though maybe "perfect for each other". So instead of scrapping the word "perfect" I decided to scrap the words to the song "Everything" by Alanis Morissette as its much closer to the discussion we had that was inspired by DigiDare #23.

After looking around we again crawled out the back window, leaving everything exactly as we found it. We took nothing and ruined nothing. We shut the window, and walked away. And all that remained sat quietly and waited...either for another person to discover it or for nature to break through.

My dad figured out that the back window could just be pushed up--it wasn't locked--so we climbed through (and didn't damage a thing just for the record). We climbed out of the hot sun and wind and into a quiet, dark little house. All sounds from outside were muffled. You could hear the lonely whistle of the wind which made it even more haunting. Everything was left in it's place. Chairs around the table. A painting on the wall. Dishes, tea, seasonings sat still in their places in the cupboards. It is as if someone simply walked away, and everything remained intact, with a soft layer of dust that had formed over all of it. I think of this house when the leaves are turning and the wind blows colder. I think of it when the snow is very deep and it is unreachable from the outside. Everything sitting in its place quietly as it always has. It's only a matter of time before nature finds a way through.

Exploring the ghost town of Mildred was...(some of you may laugh) one of the best experiences I have ever had. I had never been to a town with so much history and so many stories, that was all completely abandoned. Quiet. Just the wind blew by and the sun beat down. In every building there was a different story, a different bit of history and it came through so clearly you could practically see the ghosts of people walking around. I really can't put the experience into words, it was so overwhelming. So I hope the pictures and video speak for themselves.

This now ghost town was a stop on the Milwaukee road.

The post office was closed in 2005; the Mildred post office first opened in 1908.
