I can't really decide which of these I like best, with or without the texture. Help me?

This is from a small town I went to the other week to work as a substitute teacher. It's the same place where my grand parents used to live, so it's just filled with memories.

Vintage action from Christine, texture from Rachel.

A beautiful church in the centre of Luleå. I love the gingerbread work, I just regret that the sky was so white and boring.

Another one of the christmas shots from the icy lake a bit from our house. What I found funny about this shot is that it reminded me of those silhouetted tropical sunset photos you see from Hawaii, but instead of palmtrees and a lagoon we have reeds and ice :)

We stopped at a beautiful place in the middle of nowhere with this enormous dead waterfall. On the worn wooden railings someone had placed these stones in a row and I just loved it. This makes me think of sunny summer days on the beach with salt and wind in the air and worn wooden jetties. I do so long for summer... :)

Now I'm back from a trip with the family to some lovely swedish mountains. We didn't go skiing as it was a bit late in the season for that, but we sort of hung around, relaxed and did some sightseeing. I took copious amounts of photos, so it's going to take a while before I've processed them all, but here are some of them :)

This is a really old one... :)

I was taking photos of this mosaic wall and got irritated that my shadow kept intruding in the shots, then I just surrendered and took a shot of it too.

Some more shots from this summer when I did a little photo safari in my family's summer cottage.

My grandfather built it himself in the 50's and some of the original kitchenware and knick knacks are still there.

#35 on explore, yay! :)

Embarcadero en La Albufera, Valencia Spain.

I went out to our summer cottage this weekend and took some shots. I love the peaceful surroundings and all the beautiful nature.

Taken with Canon EOS 300 with Canon EF 50mm f1.8 STM and Kodak Vision3 250D.

During a walk in a little community in the inner parts of Sweden I found this little treasure.

"There is a way that nature speaks, that land speaks. Most of the time we are simply not patient enough, quiet enough, to pay attention to the story."

- Linda Hogan

- Rachel Carson

Hello Flickr-ers! I've been away from this lovely community for a couple of weeks and it feels good to be back. I didn't intend to take a break, but I think I really needed a hiatus to collect my thoughts and to wind down a bit. It's been kind of difficult to adjust to working full time and I've been very tired. Also, I tend to put very much pressure on myself with anything creative and so I'd just rather not post anything if I couldn't feel that it was good enough. I'm trying to work on not being such a perfectionist though...

Now about the photo :) This last weekend was a lovely long one since friday was the swedish national day, and thus a free day. On friday when I was at a friend's place, having lunch and coffee on her balcony, I got invited to go with her to her parents' cottage over the weekend. It was such a lovely place, lots of nature and just by the sea. I don't know what it is about the sea, it just calms me down right away. We just relaxed, talked and sat down by the sea for hours and just enjoyed life. It was such a treat to be able to go away for a little weekend like that. I picked up some pine cones and took shots of them in different constellations, and then I wanted to try this idea with my friend holding some of them. This photo is very special to me, not only because I like the way it looks. It also reminds me of the wonderful time we had there and of how sweet my friend is. I guess some photos will always be a little bit more special to the photographer and this one is special to me.

ps. kudos to you if you made it this far in the "essay" :)

Sometimes people carry a spark that makes the whole day brighter without even trying. A small, playful reminder that warmth often comes from each other.

This lovely ensamble was parked outside a house in Sorsele, Sweden on the 22/6. I don't know if it's arranged just to look pretty or if they actually intend to go skiing on one of the snow-clad mountains nearby.

I bought some pretty candy yesterday and shot them against a pink fabric. I just loved the results, this is basically heaven on earth for me :)

A really cold sunset.

This is another old photo, this time from New Years Eve 1999, a.k.a. the millennium. It was -30C (-24F) and me and a friend had decided to celebrate it in our summer cottage which has no heating, no water and only an outhouse toilet. Needless to say it was cold, but also very beautiful. During the night we had to go up in shifts to put more wood on the fire, which wasn't very festive. And we decided to just ignore it, which resulted in frosty temperatures inside. In the end it was two cold teenagers that were picked up the next day :)

On our trip a couple of weeks ago, we went to Stockholm - the beautiful captial of Sweden. There we visited my boyfriend's brother and did some sight seeing around the town. Amongst other places we went to the Modern museum, which is located on a beautiful little island with lots of gorgeous old architecture.

After having walked around for a couple of hours, being cultural, my feet hurt and I was tired and hungry. However, the moment I saw that someone had hung pink, purple and white balloons on an iron stair railing across the street I hopped there on eager feet to take some shots :) Being kind of weak from hunger however, I didn't think about angles and such, and these were kind of backlighted and dark - but I still liked the dreamy tones...

Under the glass roof, light gathers and lingers.

The arcades hum with quiet anticipation. Footsteps echo on mosaic floors, shop windows glow, and winter feels momentarily well-behaved. Festive, yes, but also timeless. A place where I pause, look up, and take a moment to capture the scene before carrying on.

When I saw these chairs outside the shop I nearly fainted. I thought they were so pretty and that the colour combination of turqoise, brown and white was so great. It was very lucky that I took the shot too, because all the other days that I passed the store they weren't there.

The last couple of weeks I've been staying with my mom and her husband in Falun, Sweden. They live in an adorable area that is part of the UN world heritance. It's near the copper mine and it's where all the miners used to live. The place is full of picturesque little houses, mainly in red and white and just utterly charming.

on a drizzly winter day in düsseldorf, a chance encounter between a passerby and a conductor's commanding image creates a striking scene. the man, wrapped in his winter attire, seems to be the focus of the conductor's intense energy, captured on the poster behind the glass. The rain adds a reflective sheen to the city's ambience, enhancing the serendipitous juxtaposition in this black-and-white photograph.

This is from my photosession in my summer cottage last month. I just love this old door with its special handle and old fashioned lock.

With all my ❤️ I thank you for your ⭐ or 💬 or just for 👀 it.

I found her crocheting in silence, following the rhythm of an inner song only she could hear.

My neighbor, with admirable calm, let thread and time intertwine in every stitch. I asked if I could capture that magical moment… and she smiled and said yes.

There’s no artifice—just her hands, her craft... and the Mediterranean light bathing the scene.

This image is a tribute to all those who shape memory with their hands.

I want to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!

Here's a shot of some branches covered in icedrops that I just loved. Blogged here.
