Such a beautiful snowfall this weekend blanketed everything around the Mahomet, Illinois area in white. This evergreen brought a splash of color to this peaceful scene.

Despite a cold, rainy day Anita and I went riding some back roads. We kept noticing how cool the color of the wild grasses were when they were wet so I managed a shot of this patch with the two different kinds of evergreen trees flourishing in them. Another amazing day out that found us eating Chinese take out on a wet picnic table in a graveyard while the church next to us played music for about 20 minutes. We ended up in Charlottesville at the downtown walking mall taking night photos. Life is always interesting when I go riding with Anita!

Growing beside our greenhouse.

Even the evergreen tree seems upset over the dilapidated condition of this abandoned house on the high plains of Kansas.

My beautiful virtual home! I was lucky enough to stumble upon this sim in my SL travels and now call it home. It is my little oasis of solitude and peace in an otherwise crazy world.

Christmas trees have traditionally been evergreen conifers, such as a pine or fir trees, which for centuries have been used to celebrate winter festivals in both the Christian and pagan tradition. Thousands of years ago, pagan celebrations involved the use of branches to decorate homes for the winter solstice, evoking themes of the incoming season of spring where trees and flowers would bloom once more.

This was a view looking to the northwest while walking along the Little Coal Creek Trail in Denali State Park. This was near an open area where I could back up a little bit and capture a view looking at and above some tall trees nearby. What I was attempting to capture with this image was a contrast of colors. Nearby and at the image bottom were the colors of the forest with yellows, greens, and some brown/reds. Above that and in the upper portion of the image were blue skies and white clouds. While not a perfect balance, I liked how the trees did taper off into the distance, giving a little bit of perspective to the trees all around.

I did some initial post-processing work making adjustments to contrast, brightness and saturation while playing around as I learned how to work with DxO PhotoLabs 3 that I’d recently purchased after moving away from Capture NX2. I then exported a TIFF image to Nik Color Efex Pro 4 where I added a Polarization, Foliage, and Pro Contrast filter for that last effect on the image captured.

Sometimes love will bloom in the springtime-

and like flowers, in summer, it will grow.

Then to fade away in the winter, when the cold winds begin to blow.

But when its evergreen, evergreen, it will last, through the summer and winter too.

When love is evergreen, evergreen, like my love for you.

So hold my hand and tell me; you'll be mine through laughter or through tears.

And let the whole world see, our love will be, evergreen, through all the years.

For when its evergreen, evergreen, it will last through the summer and winter too.

When love is evergreen, evergreen, like my love for you.
