A view of the ticket office and entrance side of the Illinois State Fair Grandstand on the fairground's Grandstand Ave. Constructed in 1928 during the administration of Governor Len Small, himself a former state fair poultry superintendent, this building replaced the old grandstand built in 1895. The current grandstand has the capacity to hold over 13,000 people. It is known for holding an assortment of concerts, horse, automobile and motorcycle races, and tractor pulls. Inside the grandstand is office space and large open area to accommodate vendors and event organizers.

A bunch of photographer friends went for night shooting to Hakone Gardens, a Japanese garden in Saratoga, California. The park was closed, so it was just us photographers and two models. I got a special permit from the event organizer, thank you Tony for this unique opportunity! The garden has cherry trees and wisteria that are currently in full bloom. This tree is called しだれ桜 (shidare sakura), meaning weeping cherry tree, possibly because of the low hanging long twigs.

I processed a realistic, and a photographic HDR photo from a RAW exposure, blended them selectively, and carefully adjusted the color balance and curves. I welcome and appreciate constructive comments.

I accompanied my daughter to a fundraising event last night that culminated with a local musician singing original music in front of a small crowd beside a smaller campfire. Before playing this song, he told his audience that he was going to perform a piece written by a recently deceased friend, playing the same instrument that his friend last played before his death. He collected himself and performed admirably. It was dark, he was laser-focused, and he never knew I was there.

Shortly after capturing the images, we were talking and (seeing the camera on my hip) remarked that the most interesting thing about photography (to him) is learning what it was that compelled someone to take the picture, what it was that they saw that someone else didn't. I replied with these pictures as an example of story and light and the potential to create something meaningful. I obtained his email so that I could send him the pictures the next day. This morning, I received this in reply:

"Opened my e-mail this morning to a wonderful surprise. Glad our paths crossed on top of Wolf Mountain. Nothing worse than, “people writing songs that voices never share, and no one dare disturb the sound of silence”. If, I should say WHEN, my music gets recorded I believe I have found the cover picture. The clarity of black and white reminds me of Ansel Adams. I didn’t get my $1 tip* but from you received a priceless gift. THANK YOU!"

* inside joke ... he was performing for free as a favor for the event organizer

While the photographers were getting ready for the afternoon shots with CSX #4621, Western Maryland Scenic Railroad's massive 2-6-6-2 Mallet #1309 sat idling on a spur track. The engines lead set in the perfect position, rods down, looked most impressive with the afternoon sun lighting the fireman's side of the engine. Cranking my wide angle lens to its fullest, 14mm, I propped the camera on some rocks, and dug a little hole for the camera to get this angle

IM ME, REDD COLUMBIA, WITH ANY QUESTIONS!

Nearing the final minutes of the Fireball Photo Experience at the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad yard in Ridgeley, West Virginia, the photography group huddles around the WMSR's massive 2-6-6-2 steam engine, #1309. As the engine sits at rest for the night, flashes fire off to capture the engine as its fire smolders out of its stack and cab.

Just a couple of random photos from our evening at Churchill School in Baker City. Always find something interesting to photograph when we visit.

Since local Artists, event organizers and preservationists Brian and Corrine Vegter purchased the historic Churchill elementary school building this former school balding has enjoyed a new lease on life through creative and adaptive reuse as an arts incubator, bike/ski hostel, community event center, concert venue and performance space.

Churchill school includes a sound studio, a working woodshop, metal fabrication studio gallery space and multiple artist studio spaces and the cafeteria has become a new music venue regularly hosting musical artists from throughout the PNW

Hey there! How are y'all doing? Things have been crazy on my end.

I've been swamped with freelance gigs in real life, which has forced me to put Second Life on hold. I apologize to event organizers and designers for missing the posting and also reporting deadlines on Blogotex. My anxiety, depression, and recently discovered ADHD are only making matters worse, but I'm actively working on them too.

Today, for instance, you'll finally get to see an outfit planner that I had intended to post at the end of last month for The Fifty.

By this time, I should have also posted the items from Anthem... but let's face it, it's like super unlikely that I'll make it on time, and I sincerely apologize in advance. Oh, and guess what? This round is actually their awesome 4th anniversary celebration with so many cool gifts! Big congrats! <3

I'm sure most of you can relate to life's ups and downs, so I appreciate your understanding.

Now that I've got that off my chest, let's dive into the credits for today's planner :) xoxo

Antwerpen - Museum aan de Stroom

The Museum aan de Stroom (MAS; Dutch for: Museum by the River) is a museum located along the river Scheldt in the Eilandje district of Antwerp, Belgium. It opened in May 2011 and is the largest museum in Antwerp.

In 1998 the Antwerp city council decided to build the museum at the Hanzestedenplaats. On 14 September 2006 the first brick of the building was laid. In 2010 museum objects arrived from various other museums like the Ethnographic Museum and the Maritime Museum, which both ceased to exist. The museum opened for the public on 17 May 2011.

The 60-metre-high (200 ft) MAS was designed by Neutelings Riedijk Architects. The façade is made of Indian red sandstone and curved glass panel construction. It is an example of postmodern Art Deco architecture. The MAS houses 470,000 objects, most of which are kept in storage. The first visitor's gallery is the "visible store", which contains 180,000 items. The building is located on the spot where the Hanzehuis used to stand. International merchants worked and resided at the Hanzehuis. In the nineteenth century a fire destroyed the building.

The central focus of the MAS is Antwerp and its connection to the world. The MAS collection ranges from maritime objects which document international trade and shipping, to the history, art and culture of the port city of Antwerp and to art and culture from Europe, Africa, America, Asia and Oceania. The MAS develops thematic exhibitions which connect local and global culture, art and history. The museum is committed to informing the public using new media and immersive presentations. The museum was internationally awarded for its MAS IN YOUNG HANDS initiative, which involves youngsters from very diverse backgrounds as event organizers and curators.

... and The-Q-List!

I am SUPER excited to be able to say that you can now find The-Q-List at Hallow Manor!

Hallow Manor is a hunt and a really awesome shopping event with an amazing roundup of creators, all put together by the Pale Girl Productions team. That team also runs events like The Vintage Fair, The Signature Event and The Skin Fair, so be sure to keep your eyes open for those as well!

Go pick the notecard up! :D ♥ It's FREE and has 100s of currently active shopping events listed by end date!

It is on the wall just by where you land! :)

Get on the chopper here!

Here's the Hallow Manor shopping guide, and hunter's guide!

---

I created The-Q-List because I felt I kept missing out on SO many good events! I always found out about them too late, or when I would remember that I wanted to go, it was already too late. Then I'd just sigh and wish there was a better way for me to remember when they ended, so I could be sure to not miss out.

So, I started collecting all the info, and then my friends wanted me to share it with them, so I made it a notecard in SL.. then more friends popped up, asking for it.. and it's just grown from there.

Now it's made available by means of a media partnership with Pale Girl Productions, and through a dedicated channel in CTS discord server. I am so happy about that! ♥

Oh, and my logos were made for me by Eowyn Swords! ♥ THANK YOU!

NOTE: If you want an updated copy in a notecard, just send me a message in Second Life. If I am around, I'll send one to you right away ♥ Always free of course!

"The-Q-List" on Discord: https://discord.gg/kzhCshP.

I update this list several times a week usually! (daily mostly.. haha) ♥ The links are all clickable in discord, no need to copy/paste if you go look at the list there.

If you are an event organizer and wish for your events to be added to the list, just send me a message in discord, or a message/notecard in SL! If I don't reply within a day or less (usually far less), I didn't see it, so just poke me again!

All is quiet in Ridgeley Yard except for the idle of two EMD diesels as dusk falls, and for photographers, the "blue hour." A period of twilight light between sunrise or sunset creating a blue-ish sky. As the blue hour happens, CSX SD40 #4621 and Western Maryland GP30 #501 sit awaiting their next work orders.
