One of my reasons for visiting the EV Festival was to see the different approaches to consider for my own solar bike project. Unfortunately, 95% of attendees had generic 'Chinese' wheel hub motors. This bike however used a handmade geared belt system...

They also had a folding electric mountain-bike ...which confused me a little, knowing why Bike Fridays are popular for actually being small when folded; the MTB was anything but. However the folding-MTB is for people to put in the back of a car...

The EVs had various riding events around the hosting go-kart club's racing track.

Nice idea... Although the plastic & etc. wouldn't be the go for my "10,000 Mile" solar bike.

As you might expect with this gearing, it's very easy for the bike to lose traction, and the belt occasionally slips.

This student was serious about getting the lap time record. :)

There were practice runs before the main comp so that the transponders and etc were verified.

One of the few student-made evbikes without a Chinese wheel hub. I was interested in finding out what brands of motor were being used.
