This bunch of ugly patch cables is sitting in the front of one of our network cabinets, and we really need to sort it out.
You can keep them neat if you're patching switches and patch panels at 1:1 using 25cm pigtail cables.
What we've got here is somethnig rather different. It's a full height rack, so something in the order of 42U, and it's fully populated. The problems come with the PoE devices.
We've got three PoE switches in there and four or five passive ones. The problem is that the PoE devices patch in all over the rack, and so you have to run longer cables across other switches to patch the necessary ports into a PoE switch. That makes for an unsightly mess.
It can be improved. Job for half term.

Today the stuff I ordered arrived at the local post office. It consisted of; brand new Logitech keyboard, a support made in brushed aluminium and a ethernet cable for really hi-speed connection. For example this pic only took one second to upload. At facebook people asked me what the stand was for, and it's for raising the laptop screen and enhancing the fan effectivity. The keyboard is thus required.
