Off Grid Cable Internet Access w/ Power Over Ethernet (May 8th, 2013)
The Network Shield provides a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet PHY to allow connection to an Ethernet network. It provides the connectors and load switch to support use of the USB 2.0 OTG controller to implement USB device, USB host or OTG operation. It also provides two CAN transceivers and connectors to allow connection to two independent CAN networks. Connectors are provided to allow connection to two of the I2C busses supported by the Max32.
In addition to the communications features, the Network Shield also adds a 256Kbit I2C EEPROM for non-volatile data storage and a 32.768Khz oscillator to allow use of the Real Time Clock/Calendar (RTCC) peripheral in the PIC32 microcontroller.

Or should I say Ethernet cable? Whatevs. I am so proud of myself today because after around two hours of learning how to assemble a LAN cable, I finally did one! It wasn't easy, you know. I was even losing hope because I kept on repeating the procedures. But it's all worth it after I tested using a tester and it's working! :)
An old style coaxial Ethernet connector, on the rear of an dusty 486 server I finally dug out of the basement and took to the curb.
When I first decided to set up a home network years ago I got a bunch of these old Ethernet cards for $5 at a swapmeet. They worked just fine, actually, even using completely mismatched, discarded Arcnet cables I had salvaged from a network torn out of another building. Ah, the memories.
Same thing, different day. Left side of server room, mostly networking. Servers are to the right, but aren't as photogenic.
Yet another arduino ethernet adapter to add to my burgeoning collection.
Should go very nicely with a boarduino. It's a Wiznet WIZ811MJ

This is a speed test of my home "business" connection from my Cox Business service. It comes with up to 5 IP addresses and no port blockages for $109/month. The offering, and the service, has not changed in three years.
turns out utp cable is good for knotwork. Though maybe this belongs better over at Rivulations. 2008

I did not yet know that it is really simple to add an additional #Ethernet interface to a #RaspberryPi, using a cheap #ENC28J60 module (< US$ 3). The kernel already contains a Device Tree Overlay, so all you have to do as wire it up and add one line to your config.txt. This is also a nice feature for people with a #RaspberryPiZero, which is also cheap (US$5 approx.) and does not yet have a network interface. Don't expect superb speeds though! ;) #Altran #singleboard #zero #rpi #raspi --- Posted via Instagram: stf.cc/1IBIar8
During a recent stay at the Tremonts Plaza hotel in Baltimore, they used Ethernet over Power lines to give broadband access to each room. Here is the adapter that was on the desk.
