The Actiontec Powerline Ethernet Adapter Kit (HPE100T) allows you to create or expand your network using your homes existing powerlines.
This used to run halfway across the house to hook our non-wireless capable Mac G4 tower up to the cable modem. Now I guess it's just waiting to be put away.
I've taken this 50m cable from home to be sure to reach a datenklo. It barely fits in between the datenklo and my tent.
This is a picture of the phone box before I got started. My apartment has 10 combo jacks (ethernet, phone, and cable) throughout the place and they all route in to this closet.
On the left you can see a wire block. This wire block has all the ethernet jacks routed to it.
On the right is a bunch of cables. These are all the unterminated phone cables.
The ethernet block has all the blue wires jumped to eachother and the phone connects there. So, the ethernet jacks in the apartment all go to phone and the phone jacks go nowhere. I assume this is because AT&T charges to connect phone jacks and this is some clever way of getting around that?
Anyway, this will never do :)
