Das Gebäude, das Frits Peutz im Jahr 1933 als Kaufhaus Schunck entwarf, wurde zwei Mal fast abgerissen. Heute ist es ein Musterbeispiel für eine gelungene Renovierung (durch Jo Coenen und Wiel Arets) und Neunutzung (kulturelles Zentrum mit Bibliothek, Musikschule, Museum für moderne und zeitgenössische Kunst, Architektur, Tanzschule, Filmhaus, Espressobar und Brasserie).
Im Jahr 2016 wird das Gebäude in einem Atemzug mit Klassikern aus dem Neuen Bauen wie das Rietveld-Haus, Sanatorium Zonnestraal und die Van Nelle-Fabrik genannt. Das Gebäude steht auf der Liste der 1.000 bedeutendsten Gebäude des 20. Jahrhunderts.

After a long ride through a barren desert, I was fortunate to stumble upon a Sultan's palace. Even better, was the espresso bar I found just inside the palace's front door. Time to relax with a cuppa and a few blasts from the hookah. This is my dream, so it gets to work out my way. Sure hope I don' wake up anytime soon.

Mr Chiots and I love a good cup of coffee and we're always trying to find great coffee while we're out and about. Many coffee shops don't make good coffee because they don't have real baristas employed. Espresso Bueno in VT is not like this, their coffee was fantastic. The espresso was expertly brewed and the latte even came with some great flair! If you're driving through Barre and looking for a good cup of coffee I'd recommend stopping here!
