"The metal doors slide open as he walks into the smoke-filled room, green neon particles oozing from the walls and floor into the air. He walks in as he feels the beat loosening him up. The problems of life remain on the outside, beyond the metal doors as he moves his way to the dance floor. He mixes in with the crowd of young adults as he joins them in escapism."
excerpt from the story on my blog
Location:
Enjoy a view of the Vancouver skyline rising above False Creek on a partially foggy, winter evening.
I've moved and relocated a lot within the United States, and spent my secondary school years in Europe, but when asked if I could live anywhere on the planet, with the potential of remaining there forever as a permanent resident, I always think of Vancouver.
There are so many reasons why I would live there -- too many to list in this entry.
This is significant because, until I visited Vancouver for the first time back in 2006, I always imagined I would be a global (or domestic) nomad moving from place to place, searching for something -- what that *something* is remains unclear. It's not happiness or escapism or anything wishful or fanciful. Sometimes you just *know* something is right when you experience it or it reveals itself to you. That is Vancouver to me. That's why I would definitely live there if the opportunity presented itself.
Since I'm an American citizen and live 2.5 hours' drive south of Vancouver, I've resolved that Seattle is as close in proximity to Vancouver as I can sustain for the time being.
Speaking as a cityscape photographer, though, Vancouver has it all. It's an amazing metropolis one should visit at least once in a lifetime.

As an incurable romantic person, I love to find that, who arouses your feelings, as mine, to dream in a romantic world, perhaps escapism .........but a moment of rest in a hard world.
Texture, layers: manu design, Moonglowlilly deviantart,
I read an article the other day, called "The Age of Disorder" on RT.com, which in accordance to analysts from Deutsche Bank, we are heading toward a decade of uncertainty and instability, the elite's plandemic/scamdemic, the worsening relationship between US & China. The one thing the article didn't mention was that of the ground level stuff, the sociological collapse of unity (as if we ever had in the first place) the likes of Antifa and the EDL, BLM (Black va Blue), Feminism vs the MRAs and so on and so on, etc, etc.
One thing I have found in photography is the escapism from all this, photography granting the ability (for those who have it) to live in a world of utter chaos but be transfixed by the hues & tones of a flower, or how the grass moves in the wind, the changing colours of leaves on trees, for a moment to be completely, absolutely absorbed and delightfully distracted by the acquisition of artistic endeavours via a camera and a bit of knowledge.
Photography, like all real art (real art, none of this new age crap) is the salvation of the soul(s) of mankind, and I would recommend it to anyone whose willing to learn.
So, with that said, have a great weekend everyone, and as always, thank you! :)
“Apart from literature, music and video games have been seen and valued as artistic media of escape, too.”

I'm posting this one again, it seems that I finally got affected by the badly working algorithm too, and I feel bad for my sponsors.
The aesthetics of black rocks and black sand in contrast with the sea is so gorgeous! It takes me back to the north coast of my island. The sea is too wild and the seaspray so dense, that wouldn't be possible to live that close (not allowed by law) and the windows wouldn't look that nice.
But in SL we can dream! so anytime I can I rezz my houses by or in the sea. Scarlet Creative's Barcelona Beach cabin, is minimal, beautiful and stylish, so much glass, I thought it could pair very nicely with Fancy Decor's Larsen set for Fameshed this month. Keeping it simple, clean, modern, using monochromes to connect with the blacks and greys of the rocks and letting the sea and the dracaenas to finish the job ❤

Do the gulls taunt the Liverbird.......?
There is freedom, and access to it, all around.
It was said that if the Liverbirds ever left prosperity would be lost,so the birds are tethered in place.

Another shot from the excellent October 31st woodland workshop I attended with Jakob from Evers Nature Photography at Værløse, northwest of Copenhagen with two other guys. I realise that this is technically not really a woodland shot (there are trees in the back ground, heh) but we were in fact done for the day and were just chatting but this scene was just completely irresistable. Having been inspired by the others I tried to do a 3-shot HDR, which is new to me. I hope I haven't gone overboard with the HDR process.
Here, the weather had become absolutely stunning with virtually no wind. The workshop was about finding interesting subjects, composition, tips for capturing these and not about technical aspects like aperture, exposure times and so on; wonderful!
I REALLY didn't want to leave - the day had just been fabulously awesome! 100% escapism. MUST. DO. THAT. AGAIN.
A serene and inviting coastal landscape photograph taken from a low angle at the water's edge, balancing elements of natural beauty with marine tourism.
Framed from a water-level perspective, the photograph documents a fleeting moment where contemporary leisure, historical fantasy, and the enduring natural landscape meet.
The core strength of the artwork lies in its stark juxtaposition of forms. The diagonal wave crests in the foreground create subtle leading lines that guide the viewer's eye into the center of the frame. Sharpness extends from the ripples in the foreground sand to the distant desert hills in the background, capturing details in both the bright sunset clouds and the dark, shadowed hull of the replica pirate ship.
The lighting is the strongest element of the photograph. The soft pinks and oranges in the sky beautifully complement the deep blues of the Red Sea. The color temperature shifts toward yellow and pink hues to enhance the sunset atmosphere.
A soft, pastel sky dominated by ephemeral cloud formations catching the final rays of a setting sun. A shifting, textured body of water that mirrors the sky’s palette while introducing physical movement.
The color palette operates on a spectrum of intense emotional resonance. The composition is built on a foundational harmony of complementary colors. The warm, fiery ochres of the desert hills and sunset clouds contrast sharply against the cool, deep aquamarine of the sea.
The black silhouette of the intricately rigged replica galleon stands as an imposing, theatrical symbol of romanticism, folklore, and historical adventure.
Twilight settles over the historic harbor of Sharm El Sheikh. As daily diving and sightseeing vessels return to port, the bay transforms into a cinematic landscape blending the rugged beauty of the desert mountains with the fantasy of modern tourism. Sharm El Sheikh is a destination built entirely on vacation escapism.
"Fantasy" describes the ethereal, dream-like quality of the landscape itself. The pastel pink clouds, the glowing golden light on the sand, and the perfectly calm water create a romantic, idealized setting that feels less like a real place and more like a painted backdrop from a storybook.
The calm waters, gentle tide, and soft twilight sky evoke a relaxing, vacation-like atmosphere. A compelling, postcard-style scenic view that successfully captures the leisure atmosphere of a resort destination.

We’re heading off on holidays for the next couple of weeks - not to a tropical paradise like this, but this scene felt like the perfect symbol of leaving everyday routines behind for a while.
This time the adventure takes us to Japan and South Korea. Different landscapes, different cultures, different food ...... and possibly plenty of photographs along the way.
Stay safe, healthy and happy out there everyone. See you in a couple of weeks !

This is a 1.7 cm wide tap aerator / flow regulator (to use for the water tap / faucet) which I put on a little colour-changing cone-shaped LED light with a blue glitter foam rubber as background. Additional lighting with a LED torch to create bokeh bubbles
... reminds me somewhat of the engine / warp drive of Star Trek Enterprise ... maybe that's escapism speaking right now : )

We see a man with his trolley of possessions and a hat out on the pavement hoping for money from passers by, someone walking past so captivated by his phone he's seen nothing, posters for escapism entertainment, and finally it's all seen and recorded on CCTV by some remote faceless organisation.
A true reflection of society.
Taken on a phone camera on a walkabout in London.
