"Every five minutes the traffic would tremble - we'd move a foot - hope would rise - then the red lights would flash on the cars ahead of me, and we'd be stuck again.

Eveyone honked.

Every now and then, the various horns, each with its own pitch, blended into one continuous wail that sounded like a calf taken from its mother.

Fumes filled the air.

Wisps of blue exhaust glowed in front of every headlight; the exhaust grew so fat and thick it could not rise or escape, but spread horizontally, sluggish and glossy, making a kind of fog around us.

Matches were continually being struck - the drivers of autorickshaws lit cigarettes, adding tobacco pollution to petrol pollution."

(From "The White Tiger" by Aravind Adiga)

In the center of Varanasi traffic jams start right after sunrise then it is important for those who don't have patience to know many shortcuts in order to reach places in time...

Her yer benim evimdir

Taşırım dünyayı sırtımda

Her dil benim dilimdir

Ama söylenecek söz yok

Gidiyorum ben...

Ben bir kısrak gibi gelmişim dünyaya;

Şahlanıp gitmek benim içimde var,

Hoşçakal...

The third generation of the Ford Escape was built from 2012 until 2019. In Europe it was sold as Ford Kuga to avoid confusion with the Espace from Renault. This one has a 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine. It was originally sold in Dade City, Florida and now registered in the Vinnytsia Oblast in west-central Ukraine.

Sick of the blue wall

The blue wall in the last 45 outfit photos is the side of my house. I’m quite sick of it.

I’ve been to parks a few times during the stay-at-home order to recreate and found it to be a safe activity. I can easily stay six feet from others. I figured I may as well move my photo shoots back out into the wild. This is my big escape from the backyard.

Even a lower flame fire can show it's mighty force surrounding the fire-log causing fire to escape.

All flaming fire shots are from my recent campfires !

Added to theCream of the Crop pool as my personal favorite.

This Rhododendron escaped the fate of most others during summer 2009, where a devasting hail storm destroyed so much. Probably, because it was in the shadow of a group of high larches which intercepted most of the deadly hailstones (diameter from 1,25 - 2,5 inches or 3 -6 cm !)

did she escape and can she relax now?

At the start of the Irish Civil War in 1922, the Battle of Dublin took place from 28 June to 5 July. This photo shows guests finally making their escape from the The Edinburgh Hotel at 56 Upper Sackville Street, now O'Connell Street. The Edinburgh Hotel was a temperance hotel, meaning that the beleaguered guests couldn't even resort to alcohol during their confinement!

The following report is taken from the Irish Times on Thursday, 6 July 1922:

"The Edinburgh Hotel, on the west side of Sackville street [now O'Connell Street], occupied a precarious position during the operations in that thoroughfare. Nevertheless, throughout the week about a dozen guests, with the staff, numbering as many more, remained in the building.

Yesterday afternoon, when the hotel took fire, they were at last obliged to leave after they had been warned by the firemen of their danger.

The small party, carrying various items of luggage, appeared at the front door, and, under a white flag, turned down towards the Nelson Pillar. They were at once turned into Henry street, where they were less exposed to fire, and when the troops were satisfied as to their bona fides, they were directed to go along towards Mary street, where they were held up. A newspaper representative who happened to be near took charge of the party, and explained their plight to the soldiers, who allowed them to pass through. They ultimately made their way to other hotels."

Journey if ya want!

I'm finally out in the clear and I'm free

I've got dreams I'm livin' for

I'm movin' on where they'll never find me

Rollin' on to anywhere

I'll break away, yes I'm on my way

Leavin' today, yes I'm on my way

Just when you think you had it all figured out

Runnin' scared can change your mind

I never knew I had so much to give

How hard times can fool ya

Oh I'm okay, I'm alright

Feelin' good out on your own

I'll break away, I'll break away tonight

I've got dreams I'm livin' for

I'll break away~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Journey

For The Sleep Project.

In my series The Sleep Project I investigate the state between being awake and falling asleep. I´m searching for surrealistic landscapes to illustrate the many strange things that happen in this state of mind.

Last year I went to Iceland to shoot for this series. This was shot by Jökulsárlón on southern Iceland, on the side where the iceblocks escape out into the open sea. The landscape was so dramatic! On the beach, a lot of ice blocks lay glistening. This was a large block further out in the sea, and I photographed it as the waves hit it. Then I edited it and made it dark, as it was shot in daylight :) You can check the other images out in the album "The Sleep Project"!

"All the best stories in the world are but one story in reality - the story of escape. It is the only thing which interests us all and at all times, how to escape."

- Walter Bagehot

Today the Hereios of the We’re Here! Group are shooting Not Real Pigs.

One of the advantages of our photo club meetings being held at Harper Adams University is that I get opportunities to take a photo or two while I'm there. How lucky I was to capture this escaping pig (only photographically, I wasn't able to catch it).

Dontcha hate people who text or talk on their phones while they drive? Makes it tough for us artists to 'do our thing' when we have to watch out for everyone else.

~Disclaimer~

No people or wildlife were hurt, injured, or even remotely at risk during the production of this photograph.

You would say anything

You would try anything

Less than an hour before he'd congratulated himself on escaping all the traps of Earth, all the snares of Man. Not knowing that the greatest trap of all, the final and the fatal trap, lay on this present planet.

- Clifford D. Simak

I had forgotten Simak until I found this quote. I remember liking his books when I was much younger, so it is time to revisit. Or maybe I shouldn't...I have been laughing at Star Trek TNG lately.

As always, a special thanks to all of you who drop by to look, comment and fave!

I was surprised at all the fire escapes in San Francisco. So I took a few picks and gave them a B&W treatment!
