Most recent self portrait taken using a flash and umbrella for the first time with many thanks to my uncle :)
A series of photos showing the word "escape" in 3d set in scenes of escapism. The 3d letters where produced from four layers of plywood cut using a laser cutter which were then laminated together and varnished to give a smooth modern look. This was part of a visual communication project.
Young White Wagtail - greedily observing a Large White butterfly ;-)
(At least we think it is a young Yellow Wagtail, any other opinions are welcome.) - Edit: thanks to Rolf Nagel for identifying it as a young White Wagtail.

This is an image of water on a seed head. Notice the microscopic creature exiting to the right.

“Desperation is the raw material of drastic change. Only those who can leave behind everything they have ever believed in can hope to escape.”

Bad day, looking for a way,
home, looking for the great escape.
Gets in his car and drives away,
far from all the things that we are.
Puts on a smile and breathes it in
and breathes it out, he says,
bye bye bye to all of the noise.
Oh, he says, bye bye bye to all of the noise.

Hey child, things are looking down.
That’s okay, you don’t need to win anyways.
Don’t be afraid, just eat up all the gray
and it will fade all away.
Don’t let yourself fall down.

Bad day, looking for the great escape.
He says, bad day, looking for the great escape.
On a bad day, looking for the great escape,
the great escape.

The Great Escape
For the Our Daily Challenge group's topic "Escape"
The timing of this topic couldn't be better. My job and world around me have been so hectic I needed to just escape and breathe a little before going right back into it, so me and a friend went up to DC for a weekend.
Sometimes just a walk down a street can be enough to clear your head.

... I walk past this building almost every day, and it kind of fascinates me, the boarded up windows, the fire escape ladders leading up seemingly to the sky, the long linear shadows in the mornings, evenings and by lamp light at night, the ever changing graffiti on the wall ...

The walkway from Chowder bay to Bradleys head.
Set in the middle of prime foreshore land, this is one of the many coastal walkways on Sydney Harbour with natrual coastal forest and views up and down the harbour. A great escape - in many parts there are no visible signs of civiliation, and you could be anywhere.

My entry for week three of Innovalug’s Style It Up contest.
This week participants were tasked with building a model that made contact with the ground with four studs or less.
My original plan was to make a squadron of micro starfighters navigating some three-dimensional scene. Somewhere in the process of realizing the concept in LEGO, the scale got away from me and I ended up with a Falcon about five times bigger than anticipated!
With more time and bricks I'd have liked to do an escape from the Death Star II. I think these in red would be perfect for such a scene!
This is a return to my comfort zone with a Star Wars build but perhaps still a bit of a gamble with the diorama element.
