A finding on a walk with our dog through the medows trying to test a new macro lens. Looks like a sawfly (symphyta).
Am zweiten Tag des Jahres war ich ganz Früh wach gewesen und sah, dass es in der Nacht geschneit hatte. Dies musste ich natürlich erforschen, weil sooft gab es davor und später danach nicht schnee. Und meine Katze Rufus lernte in seinen 5 Jahren zum ersten Mal scnee kennen.
Viel Spaß am zweiten Tag, des Jahres.
On the second day of the year, had I been awake very early and saw that it had snowed in the night. I of course had to explore this, because as often as not snow there before and later after. And my cat of Rufus met glacier in his 5 years for the first time.

Just last week, I have shown You a magic sunrise from a place called Hinteres Raubschloß in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains. After I had decided for a composition and finished setting up everything, I had some time left to explore the surroundings. This is something I really love. Here I discovered this tiny cave in the rocks and I instantly wanted to make a photo from inside. It is non of my best works, but to watch it feels very good for me. I hope it does for You too, even if You couldn't be there with me. It’s a combination of three photo with different shutter speed.
Erst letzte Woche habe ich Euch einen magischen Sonnenaufgang vom Hinteren Raubschloss im Elbsandsteingebirge gezeigt. Als ich mich für eine Komposition entschieden, und alles vorbereitet hatte, war noch etwas Zeit die Gegend zu erforschen. Das ist etwas, was ich sehr liebe. Dabei entdeckte ich diese kleine Höhle im Fels und wollte unbedingt ein Foto von dort drinnen machen. Es ist nicht meine beste Arbeit, doch es zu betrachten fühlt sich für mich gut an. Ich hoffe für Euch auch, obwohl Ihr nicht dabei sein konntet. Es ist eine Kombination aus drei Fotos mit unterschiedlichen Belichtungszeiten.

The forest adventure centre in Füssen-Ziegelwies and Tirol-Pinswang offers a 480-metre-long and 21-metre-high treetop path and a lot of other interesting things to climb and explore. The area is situated on the German/Austrian border directly on the river Lech in the Lech Valley. Here you gain a good insight into the fascinating world of tree crowns as well as into the flora and fauna of the region, whether different forest types or tree species. Thanks to the location and altitude of the trail, spectacular views of the wild river landscape of the Lech and the mountains of the Alps of Bavaria and Tyrol are possible.

LIU Wei, plastic bags (2017), 120x240 cm
LIU Wei repurposes everyday materials to explore perception, societal contradictions and environmental impact by transforming post-industrial objects – especially plastic bags – into intricate wire mesh artworks. Glossy, vibrant and cheap but, simultaneously, toxic plastic bags embody both convenience and ecological harm. Through months of meticulous labour, LIU reshapes the waste materials into luminous forms, questioning whether discarded remnants of modern life can find redemption through artistic reconfiguration.
His work invites reflection on the long-term consequences of industrialisation, as the PVC in his objects takes a millennium to degrade. While these artworks will ultimately vanish, their message endures, offering a striking meditation on waste, permanence and the role of art in confronting crises.

LIU Wei: "Wald der Verwirrung" (2017), Plastiktüten, 120x240 cm
LIU Wei verwendet Alltagsmaterialien, um Wahrnehmung, gesellschaftliche Widersprüche und Umweltauswirkungen zu erforschen, indem er postindustrielle Objekte – insbesondere Plastiktüten – in filigrane Kunstwerke verwandelt. Glänzende, leuchtende und billige, aber gleichzeitig giftige Plastiktüten verkörpern sowohl Bequemlichkeit als auch ökologischen Schaden. In monatelanger akribischer Arbeit formt LIU die Abfallmaterialien zu lebendigen Bildern um und erforscht die Themen der Kontamination. Seine Arbeiten regen zum Nachdenken über die langfristigen Folgen der Industrialisierung an, denn das PVC in seinen Objekten braucht ein Jahrtausend, um sich abzubauen. Brunnenskulptur von Manfred Erjautz
Der Schneemann ist ein Parameter für eine bestimmte Zeit im Jahr. Während der übrigen Jahreszeit wird er zum Fremdkörper, der den permanenten Zeitfluss vergeblich aufzuhalten versucht. Als archetypische Skulptur ruft er Erinnerungen an das Spielerische des Kindseins ins Gedächtnis. Als Figur aus Marmor widersetzt er sich jedoch jeder Art von Lebendigkeit und Entwicklung. Durch seine Spiegelung in einer künstlichen Wasserpfütze wird er trotzdem zum stummen Zeugen von Veränderung und Vergänglichkeit. Der Schneemann und die fremde Pfütze stellen damit grundlegende Fragen zur eigenen Existenz.
The snowman is a parameter for a certain time in year. During the rest of the seasons he changes into something foreign, trying to stop the permanent time run in vain. As an archetypical sculpture he reminds you of the playfulness of being a child. As a figure out of marble he resists any kind of liveliness and progress. Being reflected in an artificial water puddle he nevertheless becomes a mute witness of change and decay. The snowman and the alien puddle raise fundamental questions on your own existence.

Of course, I'm always looking for an impressive view or a fascinating sunrise or sunset. After all, I'm a photographer.
But even though I don't usually post pictures of them (since I usually don't take any), I always really enjoy the walk to the viewpoints (except perhaps the very strenuous ones).
Besides being alone in nature, which I've mentioned several times before, it's also exploring and discovering new places that fascinates me.
And so, most of the photos I take "on the go" don't end up on my computer, but in my memories. Today I'm making an exception.
Natürlich bin ich immer auf der Suche nach einer beeindruckenden Aussicht oder einem faszinierenden Sonnenauf- oder Untergang. Schließlich bin ich Fotograf.
Doch auch, wenn ich davon in der Regel keine Bilder poste (da ich meist keine mache) so genieße ich den Weg zu den Aussichtspunkten immer sehr (außer vielleicht die sehr anstrengenden).
Neben dem allein in der Natur sein, was ich ja schon häufiger angesprochen habe ist es auch das erkunden und erforschen neuer Orte, was mich fasziniert.
Und so wandern die meissten Bilder von "unterwegs" nicht auf meinen Computer sondern in meine Erinnerungen.
Heute mache ich mal eine Ausnahme.

I struck up a conversation with a museum attendant who came from the African artist's neighboring country and proudly pointed out the vessels draped under the murals.
He said they were female and male vessels and that I should take a closer look at them... I took a closer look and discovered male and female attributes ;-) ... Do you see them too?
The handles of the vessels are interesting though.
They don't have a round handle and you can only hold them with two hands if you want to keep them balanced so as not to spill anything ...
so there is no chance to touch the vessels at the delicate spot ...
... since I have often seen sculptures with male or female characteristics on my travels, I noticed that the protruding features always were shining from the hand grease and especially the women are probably not afraid to get to the bottom of things ... to explore the most important properties, so to speak ...

Ich kam mit einem Museumsaufseher ins Gespräch, der aus dem Nachbarland des afrikanischen Künstlers stammte und stolz auf die Gefäße zeigte, die unter den Wandmalereien drapiert waren.
Er sagte, es seien weibliche und männliche Gefäße und ich solle sie mir doch mal genauer ansehen ... Ich schaute genauer hin und entdeckte männliche und weibliche Attribute ;-) ... Siehst du sie auch?
Interessant sind allerdings die Henkel der Gefäße.
Sie haben keinen runden Henkel und man kann sie nur mit zwei Händen tragen, wenn man sie im Gleichgewicht halten will, um nichts zu verschütten ...
so hat man keine Chance, die Gefäße an den empfindlichen Stellen zu berühren ...
da ich auf meinen Reisen schon oft Skulpturen mit männlichen oder weiblichen Merkmalen gesehen habe, ist mir immer aufgefallen, dass die hervorstehenden Bereiche vom Handfett glänzten und vor allem die Frauen sich wohl nicht scheuen, den Dingen auf den Grund zu gehen ... sozusagen die wichtigsten Eigenschaften, gar nicht schüchtern, zu erforschen ... und die Forschungsergebnisse in der Regel dann mit einem Kichern quittieren ...

Genau vor einem Jahr habe ich dieses Foto in Vang Vieng, Laos gemacht. Da war noch die Nikon 7000 im Einsatz :)
Die massiven Kalksteinfelsen sind typisch für diese Gegend und laden zum wandern und klettern ein. Auch viele Höhlen gibt es zu erforschen.
Vang Vieng wurde vor allem durch das Tubing auf dem Fluss Nam Song bekannt. In diversen Bars an der Route wurde rege Alkohol und Drogen konsumiert. Da es zu viele Todesopfer gab, schlossen die Behörden die Bars im Jahre 2012.
Nun hat es wieder einige Einkehrmöglichkeiten, aber man kann nur schwer erahnen, wie es früher zu und her gegangen sein muss...

The limestone mountains are typical for the landscape in laos. They are perfect for trekking and rock climbing and photographers ;)
There are also numerous caves to explore... it is worth!

Last weekend we were happy dog-sitters. We were dog-sitting Diva (and yes, her name reflects her personality ;-)), the dog of a very good friend. Since she origins from China and her owner mostly speaks Chinese with/to her, I am never quite sure what exactly she gets when I am talking to her. Never mind, despite being diva-esque ;-) she is gorgeous, we love her and the walkies presented a great opportunity for captures. Hope you enjoy the sight as much as she did. Y'all have a great week ahead.

One of my favorite motifs in old abandoned buildings are the stairs. Each stage carries in itself a piece of history that is worth exploring.

I worked on the quadriptych for a couple of days, and although the individual images looked better, I felt it was more important to show you the overall campaign.
Yesterday, while cycling in the sun along the Rhine, I suddenly had the idea for the title, because this is about green, and the word deal has taken on a whole new, unpleasant, terrible meaning since Trump. It was very different in Franklin D. Roosevelt's time, when morals and ethics and a cohesive society were still important.
An early use of the phrase "Green New Deal" was by journalist Thomas Friedman. He argued in favor of the idea in The New York Times and The New York Times Magazine. In January 2007, Friedman wrote:
If you have put a windmill in your yard or some solar panels on your roof, bless your heart. But we will only green the world when we change the very nature of the electricity grid – moving it away from dirty coal or oil to clean coal and renewables. And that is a huge industrial project – much bigger than anyone has told you. Finally, like the New Deal, if we undertake the green version, it has the potential to create a whole new clean power industry to spur our economy into the 21st century.
By the 2009 European Parliament election, the European Green Party's manifesto was titled A Green New Deal for Europe and called for:
a Europe of solidarity that can guarantee its citizens a good quality of life based on economic, social, and environmental sustainability; a truly democratic Europe that acts for its citizens and not just narrow industry interests; a Europe that acts for a green future.

Rhine II is a color photograph by the German artist Andreas Gursky from 1999 (at one time the most expensive photograph in the world).
History of creation
The photograph was taken for a second and larger C-print edition with the motif "Rhine". The copies are numbered on the back from 1/6 to 6/6 and signed by hand. Gursky shows a radically reduced landscape. Under an overcast sky, the Rhine flows horizontally between grassy dikes. An asphalted bicycle and footpath can be seen under the front dike. The Lausward power plant, which was originally photographed, and other port facilities in the background as well as a person in the foreground walking their dog were digitally removed by Gursky.
The picture was taken from the dike on Rheinallee in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel between Walkürenstrasse and Hectorstrasse. He had the picture printed using the C-print process in a size of 185.4 × 363.5 cm and mounted with the image side on acrylic glass.
Another motif, "Rhine" (later referred to as "Rhine I"), dates back to 1996 and dealt with the same theme. It was printed in the format 145.8 × 180.8 cm, also in an edition of 6 copies. Copy 3/6 was auctioned at Sotheby's in New York in 2014 for 1,805,000 US dollars. Copy 6/6 achieved 2,098,500 US dollars in a previous auction in 2011. Other copies of "Rhine I" exist in the format 186 × 222 cm.
The Monika Sprüth Gallery in Cologne acquired print 1/6 and sold it to an anonymous German collector. On November 8, 2011, the picture fetched a price of 3.1 million euros at a Christie's auction in New York, making it the most expensive photograph in the world for a time.
The identity of the buyer is not known - as is often the case with auctions by international auction houses, where bidding can also be done by telephone. Another copy (5/6) is in the collection of the Tate Gallery in London. Copy 4/6 is owned by the Pinakothek in Munich.
Other copies are in the Museum of Modern Art, New York and in the Glenstone Collection, Potomac. Since November 2017, a copy has been hanging in the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia. For the 2002 federal election, Gursky provided the motif for the election campaign of the red-green federal government.

An dem Quadriptychon habe ich ein paar Tage gearbeitet. Obwohl wieder die Einzelbilder bessser wirkten, war mir doch die Gesamtaktion wichtiger euch zu zeigen.
Gestern beim Fahrradfahren in der Sonne am Rhein kam mir dann plötzlich der Gedanke zum Titel, weil es hier um Grün geht und das Wort "Deal" seit Trump eine ganz neue unangenehme, schreckliche Bedeutung bekommen hat.
Das war zu Franklin D. Roosevelts Zeiten noch ganz anders. Da waren Moral und Ethik und eine Gesellschaft mit Zusammenhalt noch wichtig.
Der Begriff „Green New Deal“ wurde schon früh vom Journalisten Thomas Friedman verwendet. Er sprach sich in der New York Times und im New York Times Magazine für diese Idee aus. Im Januar 2007 schrieb Friedman:
Wenn Sie eine Windmühle in Ihrem Garten oder ein paar Solarmodule auf Ihrem Dach aufgestellt haben, dann können Sie froh sein. Aber wir werden die Welt nur dann grüner machen, wenn wir die Natur des Stromnetzes grundlegend ändern – indem wir es von schmutziger Kohle oder Öl auf saubere Kohle und erneuerbare Energien umstellen. Und das ist ein riesiges Industrieprojekt – viel größer, als Ihnen irgendjemand erzählt hat. Und schließlich hat es, wie der New Deal, wenn wir die grüne Version umsetzen, das Potenzial, eine ganz neue saubere Energieindustrie zu schaffen, die unsere Wirtschaft ins 21. Jahrhundert katapultiert.
Bei der Europawahl 2009 trug das Manifest der Europäischen Grünen Partei den Titel „Ein Green New Deal für Europa“ und forderte:
Ein Europa der Solidarität, das seinen Bürgern eine gute Lebensqualität auf der Grundlage wirtschaftlicher, sozialer und ökologischer Nachhaltigkeit garantieren kann; ein wirklich demokratisches Europa, das für seine Bürger und nicht nur für enge Industrieinteressen handelt; ein Europa, das sich für eine grüne Zukunft einsetzt.

Im europäischen, beschlossenen "Green Deal", von 2019, geht es darum, wie die Kommission die EU zu einer modernen, ressourceneffizienten und wettbewerbsfähigen Wirtschaft und bis 2050 klimaneutral machen will.

Rhein II ist eine Farbfotografie des deutschen Künstlers Andreas Gursky aus dem Jahr 1999.
Entstehungsgeschichte
Die Aufnahme entstand für eine zweite und im Format größere C-Print-Edition mit dem Motiv „Rhein“. Die Exemplare sind von 1/6 bis 6/6 rückseitig nummeriert und handsigniert. Gursky zeigt eine radikal reduzierte Landschaft. Unter bedecktem Himmel fließt der Rhein horizontal zwischen grasbewachsenen Deichen. Unter dem vorderen Deich ist ein asphaltierter Fahrrad- und Fußweg zu sehen. Das ursprünglich mit abgelichtete Kraftwerk Lausward und weitere Hafenanlagen im Hintergrund sowie eine Person im Vordergrund, die ihren Hund ausführt, wurden von Gursky digital entfernt. Aufgenommen wurde das Bild vom Deich an der Rheinallee in Düsseldorf-Oberkassel zwischen der Walkürenstraße und der Hectorstraße. Er ließ das Bild im C-Print-Verfahren in einer Größe von 185,4 × 363,5 cm ausbelichten und mit der Bildseite auf Acrylglas montieren.
Ein weiteres Motiv „Rhein“ (später als „Rhein I“ bezeichnet) stammte bereits von 1996 und befasste sich mit dem identischen Thema. Es wurde im Format 145,8 × 180,8 cm ebenfalls in einer Auflage von 6 Exemplaren abgezogen. Das Exemplar 3/6 wurde 2014 bei Sotheby’s in New York für 1.805.000 US-Dollar versteigert. Das Exemplar 6/6 erzielte in einer vorhergehenden Auktion 2011 noch 2.098.500 US-Dollar. Weitere Exemplare von „Rhein I“ existieren im Format 186 × 222 cm.
Die Galerie Monika Sprüth in Köln erwarb den Druck 1/6 und verkaufte ihn an einen anonymen deutschen Sammler. Am 8. November 2011 erzielte das Bild in New York bei einer Auktion von Christie’s einen Preis von 3,1 Millionen Euro und wurde damit zeitweise zur teuersten Fotografie der Welt. The forest adventure centre in Füssen-Ziegelwies and Tirol offers a 480-metre-long and 21-metre-high treetop path and a lot of other interesting things to climb and explore. The area is situated on the German/Austrian border directly on the river Lech in the Lech Valley.
Here you gain a good insight into the fascinating world of tree crowns as well as into the flora and fauna of the region, whether different forest types or tree species. Thanks to the location and altitude of the trail, spectacular views of the wild river landscape of the Lech and the mountains of the Alps of Bavaria and Tyrol are possible.

Hier gewinnt man einen guten Einblicke in die faszinierende Welt der Baumkronen sowie in die Flora und Fauna der Region, ob verschiedene Waldtypen oder Baumarten. Dank der Lage und Höhenentwicklung des Pfades, sind spektakuläre Ausblicke in die Wildflusslandschaft des Lechs, sowie ins Gebirge der Alpen von Bayern und Tirol möglich.

Lake Dobbiaco in the Upper Val Pusteria is situated in between the Three Peaks and the Fanes-Sennes-Braies Nature Parks.
The small mountain lake south of the village of Dobbiaco originated from several rockfalls in antiquity - its inlet and outlet is the Rienza river. In 1939, round Lake Dobbiaco five bunkers were built, as Mussolini wanted to protect the access roads to Italy. These constructions were part of the so-called "Alpine Wall", a protective barrier dating back to WWII. Nowadays, the Lake Dobbiaco Nature Trail leads in a pleasant 2-hour walk around the 4.5 km long shore line.
It features 11 panels providing useful information about flora and fauna of this nature jewel and the surrounding nature parks, and even issues several challenges for kids. Moreover Lake Dobbiaco - "Toblacher See" in German, "Lago di Dobbiaco" in Italian - is particularly popular with those who love bird watching, as several rare migrant birds stop in this area in spring and autumn. In summer, however, you can explore Lake Dobbiaco when doing a row boat trip, whereas in winter it is frozen and perfectly suitable for ice skating and curling. Also the main cross-country ski trail of the Upper Val Pusteria surrounds this beautiful lake.

Der Toblacher See im Hochpustertal liegt zwischen dem Naturpark Drei Zinnen und dem Naturpark Fanes-Sennes-Prags.
Der Bergsee südlich von Toblach, der von der Rienz sowohl be- als auch entwässert wird, entstand vor langer Zeit durch zahlreiche Felsstürze und ist heute eines der wenigen Rieselfelder (Feuchtgebiete), die es in den Alpen noch gibt. Rund um den Toblacher See wurden fünf Bunker gebaut, womit Mussolini 1939 die Zufahrtswege nach Italien schützen wollte: Die Bauten gehören zum sogenannten Alpenwall in Südtirol, einem Schutzwall aus der Zeit des 2. Weltkrieges. Der Naturlehrpfad Toblacher See schlängelt sich heute um die 4,5 km Uferlinie des Sees.
In einer gemütlichen Wanderung von 2 Stunden führt er dich an 11 verschiedenen Infotafeln vorbei, die über die Flora und Fauna des geschützten Gebietes informieren. Auch die praktischen Fähigkeiten werden hier beansprucht: Wer springt weiter als die Waldbewohner? Bekannt ist der See auch bei Vogelfreunden, denn hier können im Frühjahr und Herbst seltene Zugvögel beobachtet werden. Im Sommer kannst du den See mit dem Boot erforschen, ein Bootsverleih vermietet Ruderboote. Im Winter dann gefriert das Eis, und Curling und Eislaufen sind angesagt. Auch die Haupt-Langlaufloipe des Hochpustertales verläuft um den Toblacher See.
