He's a wonderful poser.
I uploaded a picture twice (and deleted twice) because the colour Flickr rendered it was awful.

The image I posted a few days ago was of an older bee eater with a worn beak from digging nests in sandy banks.
This image on the other hand is of a juvenile which, as you can see, has an unused beak and is in a pristine condition.
Bee-eaters are gregariousānesting colonially in sandy banks, preferably near river shores, usually at the beginning of May. They make a relatively long tunnel, in which they lay five to eight spherical white eggs around the beginning of June. Both male and female care for the eggs, which they brood for about three weeks. They also feed and roost communally.
During courtship, the male feeds large items to the female while eating the small ones himself. Most males are monogamous, but occasional bigamy has been encountered. Their typical call is a distinctive, mellow, liquid and burry prreee or prruup.

Bee-eater, any of about 25 species of brightly coloured birds of the family Meropidea (order Coraciiformes). Found throughout tropical and subtropical Eurasia, Africa, and Australasia (one species, Merops apiaster, occasionally reaches the British Isles), bee-eaters range in length from 15 to 35 cm (6 to 14 inches).
The bee-eaterās bill is moderately long, slightly downcurved, and sharply pointed. Brilliant plumage is characteristic; green predominates, but many species are partially coloured with red, yellow, blue, or purple. Many have elongated central tail feathers. Bee-eaters feed on bees, wasps, and other insects.

The black redstart is a small robin-sized bird that has adapted to live at the heart of industrial and urban centres. Its name comes from the plumage of the male, which is grey-black in colour with a red tail.
With fewer than 100 breeding pairs in the UK, the black redstart is on the Red List of Birds of Conservation Concern. Is is also listed as a Schedule 1 species on The Wildlife and Countryside Act.

The European bee-eater is a near passerine bird in the bee-eater family, Meropidae. It breeds in southern Europe and in parts of north Africa and western Asia. It is strongly migratory, wintering in tropical Africa
I think i've been spotted. Taken in local woodland in November 2019
I've just come back from a week in Cornwall. You couldn't see it for two days it was covered in mist/fog. British weather eh!
This makes me think of warmer, sunnier times.

The rock pipit is a large stocky pipit, larger than a meadow pipit and smaller than a starling. It is streaky olive-brown above and dirty white underneath with dark streaking. It breeds around the coast where there are rocky beaches and most of the birds which breed in the UK are residents, with only the young birds dispersing once they become independent. Some birds arrive here from Norway to spend the winter.

Griffon vultures are a diurnal species and co-operate when foraging by circling a particular area, keeping in sight of another vulture until food is sighted, at which moment a large number of the birds may alight to feed on the dead animal. This may involve impressive threat displays and fighting, as each bird works to maintain its place. Griffon vultures are fairly vocal and produce a variety of calls when communicating with others of their species. A drawn-out hissing is made by dominant birds during feeding, and when another bird comes too close, a wooden-sounding chattering is produced.

Bee-eaters could also be called beetle-eaters,ant-eaters, dragonfly-eaters or even grasshopper-eaters as they enjoy munching on all of these insects
Bee-eaters didn't get their name by chance, they just love eating bees. But how do you swallow something that is likely to sting you on the way down? Young bee-eaters soon learn that the best, and only, way to swallow a bee is to rub it against a hard surface until it has stung itself completely dry. The bee is usually dead by then anyway
The shelduck is one of our largest ducks, growing as big as some geese. It is mainly coastal, feeding on small invertebrates that it finds in the mud of estuaries and sandy beaches. It has spread inland, however, as flooded gravel pits with sandy shores and gravel banks provide a perfect feeding ground.
