After I spent a lot of time setting this up and trying to get it just the way I envisioned, I was a little annoyed to discover during processing that two stray fibers had very distractingly landed in my set! But then I realized: Of course, the wiggly fiber on the rock is what this playful cat is about to pounce on! :)
The Millennium Bridge was the first new bridge to be built over the Thames in London for more than 100 years. It was the result of a 1996 competition and it was won by the 'blade of light' design envisioned by Arup (engineers), Foster and Partners (architects) and Sir Anthony Caro (sculptor).
It was officially opened by the Queen on 10 June 2000. Around 80,000 people crossed the bridge on its opening day, with around 2,000 on the bridge at any one time. People felt the bridge begin to sway and twist in regular oscillations. Feeling unsteady, the pedestrians altered their gait to the same lateral rhythm as the bridge. The adjusted footsteps just magnified the motion: the more it happened, the more people responded to the movement; and the worse it got. Two days later the bridge was closed until the problem was fixed but it’s known as the Wobbly Bridge since.
It reopened for good on 27 February 2002 and the best time to catch it without people crossing it is at sunrise, albeit the occasional photographer will be desperately trying to find a new angle.
Westbound Rook to Brewster train bends around the curve at Highway 151 on the Ohio Central Pan Subdivision main line - once part of the Pennsy's Pittsburgh to Columbus main line.
I had been envisioning this shot for quite some time and in showing T. Mik around last week we were able to pull it off.

A couple of weeks ago, we had marvelous northern lights in Trondheim and I had a great night out with my camera.
I tried to go to several places to take pictures that I envisioned, but the northern lights can disappear quickly, so I was in a bit of a hurry to move on. I took this photo when I was on my way back to the car to go to the city center, but the light was so amazing that I had to stop and set up the tripod to take another shot. It was absolutely dark where I stood, but during the exposure I was disturbed by a passing train with high beams on. I thought the picture was ruined, but it was kind of nice with this light in the grass.

Shot for the 52 Weeks for Dogs Project: It's early in the week but I am so incredibly busy that I don't want to take the chance of waiting for another shot and I really like this one anyway :) I had shared a silhouette shot of Autumn recently, but not for the project and I just could not resist this opportunity when I saw the newly created hill (housing construction). Truth is I over exposed it but that's the beauty of shooting in RAW as I was able to drop the exposure down to get the shot that I had envisioned. The original unedited shot follows below for comparison.

I was impressed by a photograph I had seen in 'Looking at Images' by Brooks Jensen.
It was by Bill Lyons of a skyscraper against a cloudy sky.
Jensen noted the photo presented the importance of relationships in photography. The relationship of the physical clouds with the reflected clouds, the soft shapes to the hard edges, manmade to nature. Being distinct yet melded together.
So here is my rendition on this theme of relationships.
But really all the credit for this shot should go to the Architect who envisioned the relationship between their structure and the sky.
