Brown Falcon (Falco berigora)
Another look at the Falcon at Sneydes Rd earlier this month. It was catching insects to snack on before flying off in search of main course.

My garden is a very sheered garden, some areas get more sun than others, thus, some plants/flowers are earlier, some are later.
This Spring these here are somewhat premature!
Meconopsis cambrica, the Welsh poppy, is a perennial flowering plant in the poppy family Papaveraceae.
It is a native of damp, rocky sites in upland areas of Western Europe from the British Isles to the Iberian Peninsula.
The plants can grow between 30–60 cm (12–24 in) tall. It blooms between May and July.
The flower is distinctively yellow or orange with four petals, and coarsely hairy green sepals that fall off soon after the flower opens.
The flower’s stigma has seven distinct lobes radiating from its centre. The ovary positioned beneath the stigma.
It spreads easily from the numerous small black seeds produced in the summer, from a long, ribbed capsule that opens with flaps.
I have wild yellow poppies in the garden, they are the most ephemeral of flowers.
Everything has to be ready before you bring them in, bang, a few photographs, this one lost a petal along the way immediately.
I put them in water, in no time the pretty heads hanging.

This great blue heron ended up with a few greens with his tiny fish. Before he swallowed it, though, he cleared off the greens. At the Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge.

LE CHÂTEAU DE ROCHEBRUNE
L'ENTRÉE SE FAIT PAR UN PORTAIL PLEIN CINTRE ET 2 PETITES PORTES.
♦ Datant des premières croisades, ROCHEBRUNE était une ancienne place fortifiée stratégiquement située au carrefour des routes de Limoges, Angoulême et Niort.
♦ La première tour fut édifiée par Jourdain Ier avant que celui-ci ne parte pour Jérusalem et n’y meure en 1099.
♦ Les trois autres tours n’apparurent qu’un siècle plus tard.
Les murs de chacune d’elles, épais de deux mètres, sont percés de meurtrières dont les angles de vue cumulés ne laissent aucun angle mort aux défenseurs du lieu.
♦ Les descendants de Jourdain Ier augmentèrent peu à peu l’édifice pour lui donner son volume actuel.
Début construction : XIème siècle.

Scrumptious entrée - Pan-roasted barramundi with herbs crumb, truffle mashed potato, sautéed seasonal vegetables, pumpkin puree and saffron cream. Had this at Dinner and Dance 2023.
