A true open-air museum, Rome has preserved and enriched its beauty over the centuries. Each corner of the streets reveals a treasure, be it ancient, religious, architectural or even gastronomic. All roads lead to Rome, and one should not resist, simply take it and go, enjoy the beauty and admire the eternal city.

Located at the foot of a rocky promontory, in the province of Palermo, stands one of the most beautiful towns in Italy. It is one of the most beautiful towns in Italy and is the gateway to the entire Madonie area and also a starting point for the Aeolian Islands. The historic center of Cefalù has a medieval layout characterized by narrow streets, paved with pebbles from the beach and limestone from the Rocca di Cefalù. The town, which developed around the Cathedral of Cefalù, commissioned by Ruggero II, has preserved its ancient appearance over the centuries, with its narrow streets of the historic center, typically medieval. The buildings that enrich the city consist of architectural decorations and the numerous churches present demonstrate the importance of the bishopric. Particularly characteristic is the seaside village, with ancient houses facing the sea.

Definitively completed in the Swabian period, the Cathedral of Cefalù, which became a World Heritage Site in 2015, can now also be visited in its towers.

Built starting in 1131, its Romanesque style is enriched by Arab influences, and its appearance is pure wonder.

It is also possible to climb its Norman towers, which are different from each other: one is the square-plan tower, with battlements in the shape of flames, which would symbolize the papal miter and the power of the Church; the other is the octagonal-plan tower with Ghibelline merlons which would instead pay homage to the royal crown and the temporal power.

"Cape Meares is a small headland on the Pacific coast in Tillamook County, Oregon. The cape forms a high steep bluff on the south end of Tillamook Bay. Much of the cape is part of the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department-administered Cape Meares State Scenic Viewpoint with three miles of hiking trails, which includes Cape Meares Light and the Octopus Tree. The cape is named after John Meares, a British explorer." Wikipedia

Thank you very much my lovely flickr friends for all your kind comments. I wish you a very happy and beautiful weekend and week : ))

This was a kind of boring close-up photo of a plain piece of wood with cracks in it. Post-processing added the little "square" textures and enriched the color a bit. Happy Slider Sunday!

St Bathans originally lay in a small gully. After a decade of mining, Kildare Hill, which enclosed the town on one side, had been flattened and by 1936, as a result of extensive hydraulic mining, there was a lake. The lake bottom was some 40 metres below the town's main street and was filled with mineral enriched water. This is what has given the lake its blue appearance.

As part of Rena's "life enrichment" so she doesn't have to attack me for fun, she has this new treat puzzle. She ignored it for 2 days and now loves it and can get the treats out of any of the sections. We only use it once a day, 6 treats, so she doesn't get bored.

As an enrichment, a keeper was tossing fish to Nik.

He eats about 40lbs of food a day, that's a lot of fish. Actually that's only part of his diet. He is fed various meats, bear chow, and a lot of other yummy treats.

The church is a Co-cathedral to the Eparchy of Piana degli Albanesi of the Italo-Albanian Catholic Church, a diocese which includes the Italo-Albanian (Arbëreshë) communities in Sicily who officiate the liturgy according to the Byzantine Rite in the Koine Greek language and Albanian language. The Church bears witness to the Eastern religious and artistic culture still present in Italy today, further enhanced by the Albanian exiles who took refuge in southern Italy and Sicily from the 15th century under the pressure of Turkish-Ottoman persecutions in Albania and the Balkans. The latter influence has left considerable traces in the painting of icons, in the religious rite, in the language of the parish, in the traditional customs of some Albanian colonies in the province of Palermo. The community is part of the Catholic Church, but follows the ritual and spiritual traditions that largely share it with the Eastern Orthodox Church.

The church is characterized by a multiplicity of styles that meet, since, through the succession of centuries, it was enriched by various tastes in art, architecture and culture. Today, it stands as a church-historical monument, and subject to protection.

The Forehall is decorated with later frescoes of comparatively little artistic significance. The frescoes in the middle part of the walls are from the 18th century, attributed to the flemish painter Guglielmo Borremans.

Since 3 July 2015 it has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as Arab-Norman Palermo and the Cathedral Churches of Cefalù and Monreale.

Art in station architecture

Artwork Title:

This is Wan Chai

Artist Name:

Jevan Chowdhury

Location:

Wan Chai Station

Artwork Completion Date:

March 2020

Concept:

“This is Wan Chai” is an observation of the theatrical stage that everyday life presents, as seen through the lens of magical realism. Images of Wan Chai’s iconic heritage are enriched by the performances of over 40 principal, soloist, coryphée and corps de ballet dancers from the Hong Kong Ballet as well as members of the public. Spanning a length of approximately 150 metres, the artwork reimagines and reinvents the station as a public space at the heart of the local community. In this way, the station is transformed into a living stage of choreographed street scenes that commuters play their part in as they pass through.

“This is Wan Chai” is part of the “Moving Cities” series. Commissioned by MTR Corporation and jointly initiated with Hong Kong Design Centre, it was made in collaboration with Hong Kong Ballet, Treacle Media, UK’s Department for International Trade and Conran + Partners. Moving Cities is part of an on-going global inventory of film and photographic work in which world cities are transcribed through dance.

You see me here after a day of enrichment activities (legit and otherwise) that have me troubled. Let me explain:

Going to the zoo early enabled me to see my friend, Loui, acting like a canine! He's usually sleepy in the middle of the day.

I watched the zookeeper throw mealworms into the air. The blue-faced honeyeaters would swoop down and catch the mealworms mid-air.

Their accuracy wasn't 100%, but pretty close!

You enrich my creative soul, you inspire me. You , yes you.. artist. Thank you for sharing.

Goats love almost any kind of enrichment.

Violet, the muntjac deer, has recently given birth to her second child. While I was unable to see the fawn, Mom did come out to check for some food. Unfortunately, the lettuce was gone from the clips on the enrichment piece, so Violet had to settle on food from a bowl.

During this time of quarantine, it seems everyone is doing it.

This frog statue makes its rounds at the zoo. Last week, the frog was keeping the zebras company. The zebras noticed!

i can only imagine what would have happened if the frog had moved.

Even an cardboard core can be good enrichment!

Pals,

This is my 500th post (in about seven years), so I wondered if and how I should denote it.

I hope this cute boy is a good way.

(I, also, noticed I already have a few photos on this interesting and symbolic subject: 'people taking photos' so I created a tiny album from them.)

I take the opportunity to thank all of you: It's not always easy to be in flickr, but it is certainly very enriching and rewarding. Looking back at my photos from the past, I think I learned a lot from you. Thanks! I consider myself lucky to have you all over the globe.
