The windmills at Kinderdijk were enlighted recently and Nederwaard no. 5 is truly enchanting when it is lit in the evening! Especially when its reflection is visible in the calm water, with soms waivy reed through it.

In November 2015 I travelled to Iceland for my first time. I had wanted to go there for a long time and finally, I got the chance. I and my wife visited the usual places on the island and we were met by incredible scenery. I had high hopes photography vice but I soon realise that it was super hard to combine "bus tours" with taking my time to find good compositions and high-end photos. So I got into snapshot mode. Anyway, the scenery on Iceland is beautiful anyway even though the photos aren't that technical super correct. This shot is taken at Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates are pulling apart. For som added mystery I incorporated some sun and sun rays in the photo and made the pic a bit more dreamy. No other elements are added or taken away from the picture.

"Creating is never making something out of nothing: it is the mode of perceiving. When a painter creates a picture, in some sense the picture is already there, and painting really involves finding that picture through a creative act."

- Robert Sardello, "Silence, Prayer and Meditation".

Not much comment needed today. I just invite you to contemplate these pieces of made photo art. Like all conceptual art, this kind of photography requires one to have a clearly worked out idea before even attempting the processing. The photograph can be taken to a whole new level with just a few minor artistic changes.

I have been listening to Chase Jarvis interview Austin Kleon this morning about his new book Keep Going, here is the link to the video if you are interested youtu.be/AvUELPpj63s . I have read Austin's first two books and have his new one on my list to pick up. I know of Austin because of Chase and appreciate all of the wisdom the two share. Thanks to those who are changing the world!

Perched in quiet majesty, the long-tailed macaque seems to pause time itself. In this fleeting moment, caught between instinct and awareness, a flicker of understanding stirs behind the eyes. This portrait reminds us that presence — in any form — is the first step toward enlightenment.

You cannot achieve Enlightenment.

It comes to you, once you have stopped searching.

Yesterday, I biked over 30 miles round trip to The The Baháʼí Temple/House of Worship in Wilmette, Illinois. It was a beautiful day and lots of families were being careful but were still celebrating graduations. This little girl seemed to exist outside time and space. I do like the idea of meditation and prayer though I am not so great at it. I get my enlightenment by taking photographs like these, though, and the feeling it gives me to put my experiences to images that will last forever. Most of the time, I can usually find something I did wrong about a photo and am very self critical. Once in awhile, I feel like I finally got everything right about the human experience and how I relate to it.

I found these 'snail-like' curls on the top of this Buddha's head quite mesmerising. According to legend, when the Buddha cut his hair, the uncut portions snapped into these curls and he never cut his hair again.

When I was out and about in the old town of Dresden the evening before last, I had a completely different motif in mind (for my series about the buildings on the banks of the river Elbe, perhaps you remember).

I had never planned this perspective for a second, because on the one hand you see it very often in photos now and on the other hand I have already photographed it a few times at different times of the day and night.

And so I stood nearby with my eyes and camera pointed in the opposite direction. When I turned around purely by chance to get something else out of my backpack, I suddenly found myself in front of this breathtaking view of the Frauenkirche, lit up golden by the evening sun.

I just had to capture that. And so I put my resolutions and my original plan aside for now and turned my attention back to the “bulky”. But with this performance she really deserved it.
