Making up for lost time, Im so enjoying my adventures again, even just down to my local Steetley Pier
Have you ever visited Sandbanks Provincial Park, nestled on the west coast of Prince Edward County? To be completely honest, and I don't want to exaggerate, but every person I have ever talked to in my life about provincial parks love this place.
There is our opportunity for an exceptional exploration and full enjoyment of the beauty of this park at this time of a year, especially, when all the summer crowds were gone. This image is taken on the stunning Woodlands Trail that leads across old farm pastures to hardwood lots. A walk over the leaf carpeted trail is breathtaking, and you can enjoy hearing the rustle of the leaves while walking. Awesome!
The fall colors amaze everyone, so enjoy them until you can, because the remanence of Hurricane Patricia will bring all the foliage down today!

We have had, over the years many walks in to the countryside, over hills and visits to gardens and arboretums. I cannot remember all the places now, but I hope you will get as much enjoyment out of them as we did.
Apologies to anyone that I have missed since my absence. Keep well and stay safe. Patrick
On June 30, 1864, amid the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln signed the Yosemite Grant Act, establishing Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove. The Yosemite Grant was the first land grant to protect wild lands for the enjoyment of people. In addition, this grant created the first California State Park.
In 1890, the land surrounding these two tracts were designated Yosemite National Park. John Muir helped persuade President Roosevelt and state authorities to combine Yosemite Valley and Mariposa Grove with Yosemite National Park in 1906.

Enjoyment of the landscape is a thrill.

Sea Thrift is a really very pretty, pink flower which grows happily along North-Atlantic seashores. It is slightly antiseptic but is not generally used medicinally because the sap can also cause skin irritations. The plant is apparently copper-tolerant and seems to absorb that element so I suppose it might be used to remove copper from soil if that's necessary.
Here our flower is being visited by a Stripe-winged Dronefly, Eristalis horticola, also rather useless. That is if you think aesthetic enjoyment has no use!

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Happy Horses Fence Friday!
A few horses take in the mist from the surrounding irrigation a wonderful cooling enjoyment - hope you enjoy your weekend! HFF!
When I lived in Caithness getting south was always a race. I used to hear adults compare how long it took them to get to Inverness, Edinburgh or Glasgow. A neighbour and his mate killed themselves on the A9 trying to set a record their car still airborne when it hit the artic parked across the road and out of sight beyond the railway hump backed bridge at Georgemas. Death and serious injury were a fact of life on the deserted roads in the far north. Speed kills they say. Aye, it does. But speed thrills too. So much so that I don't know how many times I sped down past Kingussie towards Newtonmore (home of the best shinty team in the world) without noticing the Redcoat Barracks sat prominently off to one side. Eyes more intent on gauging the distance to overtake the next car than enjoying the glorious Cairngorm landscape and mountains.
I make a point these days of going more slowly. The House of Bruar and Dalwhinnie Distillery are also places to enjoy on that stretch through the Drummochter Pass, enforced enjoyment courtesy of modern average speed cameras.
Ruthven Barracks is not in our back yard, but only about 2 hrs away
One of my favorite things about birding adventures is visiting a rookery. With the constant bickering over nest sites, screeching, squawking, garbling and endless chasing, there's constant enjoyment and it's truly 'a sight to behold'. This Cattle Egret was maintaining a constant watch over a selected nest sight where his mate was sitting...you don't want to mess with them!
Thank you for your visit and comments.
In a nutshell!
It's junior football.
They are children.
Generally it the parents that need to be taught the lessons on how to behave.....
I'm no Angel but i've stood on the touchline supporting my boys for in excess of 10 years.....Some of the things I have seen have been completely inexcusable. This sign struck a chord with me.
Thanks for visiting.
All the best.....
The Livraria Lello might be the most beautiful bookshop in the world but its certainly the busiest . There were crowds of people inside that totally stopped ones enjoyment of the place . It would be a lovely place to explore when it is closed to the public . One of the reasons its so dammed popular is the Harry Potter connection apparently JK Rowling was inspired by this building to start writing the books . I did my best to find a POV that did not include too many people this was the best I managed . It does show off the rather marvellous staircase
The Livraria Lello is a bookshop in the centre of Porto.Along with Bertrand in Lisbon, it is one of the oldest bookstores in Portugal and frequently rated among the top bookstores in the world
The owners hired engineer Francisco Xavier Esteves to construct the new bookstore on Rua das Carmelitas in 1906.The ample interior space is marked by a forked staircase connecting to a gallery on the first floor with detailed wood balusters.

This boy's facial expression tells it all. In poverty stricken Cuba, he had managed to make a cart from simple materials. He was hurtling at speed up and down the street. It was uplifting to see how his ingenuity helped to make the most of his life.
Some of the trees in the nearby park in downtown are turning their colors for us, city dwellers' enjoyment.
