Cala Junco is located in the southernmost part of the island and is considered the most beautiful and evocative inlet in all of Panarea. It is located on the right of the promontory of Capo Milazzese, of which in ancient times it was a natural port.

It is a natural swimming pool formed by high basalt rocks, characterized by a transparent sea with colors ranging from green to turquoise, particularly clear thanks to the stony seabed.

The Hücker Moor is a nice little lake in the Herford area (Northwest Germany). Peat was cut here more than a century ago and created this lovely landscape. Today the place is a great location for wildlife and worth a trip for the local folks in all seasons.

To all those who passed through this world and found some measure of enjoyment while visiting - thank you. Permafrost is disintegrating now, and will be fully gone by the end of February.

The last couple of days has been hectic for me. When I wake up in the morning I should have some time to visit your wonderful photos. I miss that as much as I do photographing.

Along the way to Glitterheim hut, during our multi-day trek in Jotunheimen national park, Norway. The day started out cloudy but calm as we climbed steeply on the slopes next to lake Gjende from Gjendesheim hut. After traversing wide valleys with far away vistas of hills and lakes we hiked alongside Lake Russvatnet for a long while - seen here in the distance, surrounded by peaks. The color of the water was a ethereal milky turquoise. As we turned away from the lake to walk over a boulder strewn valley and climb a snowy saddle, the weather turned on us with relentless rain and occasional fog, but cleared up later to reveal the beautiful valley of Veodalen to which we would descent. After negotiating a rocky descent, we reached the hut after 14 miles of hiking, wet and cold but thankful for a warm dinner and dry feet! Glitterheim hut is located next to the snaking river, nestled beneath Glittertind (the second highest peak in Norway) and surrounded by 2000 m mountains, an unforgettable location.

Endless: Permafrost

A thermokarst landscape inspired by the Tundra and Taiga biomes found in Siberia and Northern Alaska. Set in the height of the short summer there (where temperatures range from 3° to 25 °C), it offers a glimpse of what might occur when the sub-soil ice layers melt... A world of beautiful destruction, wide vistas and quietness.

SL is full of so many wondrously creative places and exploring is one of my favorite things to do here. On one of my most recent travels I discovered Endless: Permafrost. It's a hauntingly beautiful space that aims to bring awareness to the potential destabilization of Artic infrastructures due to the impacts of global warming on the permafrost in that region.

šŸš— Visit Endless: Permafrost to learn more about and explore this beautiful region.
