INSALATA AUTUNNALE
-rucola
-insalata a foglia mista tenera
-indivia belga
-melograna
-mele
-noci
The pomegranate, one of my favorite autumn fruits.
I think it is a fruit that with its sour spirit can enrich many autumn preparations.
I believe it is an ingredient that in autumn salads can give an extra taste that can be just fine.
I recommend a good salad to make, which can be a bit laborious to compose but in the end will be giving great satisfaction, both to the sight and to the taste.
For the salad I leave you the ingredients below to compose the salad:
AUTUMN SALAD
-rocket salad
- tender mixed leaf salad
-Belgian endive
- pomegranate
-apples
- nuts
-I recommend using an Italian Primo Sale cheese or one of your choice.
A goat's cheese or Greek feta cheese can also make the dish interesting.
- a round of acacia honey at the end
- salt, pepper and oil is what I would use for seasoning, otherwise feel free to season the finished dish as you wish to your taste.
One of the best things in the kitchen is to experiment.
I think you will enjoy a super salad, very rich in colors but also in flavors.
P.S.
It can also be a nice dish to serve in a nice large bowl to be in company with who you want to invite.
More commonly known as chicory but also seems to be known by a few other names as well, including blue weed, blue daisy, blue dandelion, bunk, coffeeweed, hendibeh, horseweed, ragged sailors, succory, wild endive and wild bachelor's button.
Thanks wiki for info :)
Can't seem to find how the nautical name evolved but it I guess it's something to do with them floating in a sea of blue, or something!
Thought this went rather well...

Asteraceae, also called Compositae, the aster, daisy, or composite family of the flowering-plant order Asterales. With more than 1,620 genera and 23,600 species of herbs, shrubs, and trees distributed throughout the world, Asteraceae is one of the largest plant families.
Asteraceae is important primarily for its many garden ornamentals, such as ageratums, asters, chrysanthemums, cosmos, dahlias, marigolds (Tagetes), and zinnias. Other well-known garden plants and wildflowers include Boltonia, Brachycome, burdock (Arctium), butterbur (Petasites), Calendula, cat’s ear (Hypochoeris), cudweed (Filago and Gnaphalium), Gerbera, hawksbeard (Crepis), Inula, Matricaria, and Piqueria. Some genera include noxious weeds, such as dandelion (Taraxacum), ragweed (Ambrosia), and thistle (Carduus, Cirsium, and others). Several other members of Asteraceae have economic importance as food crops. Artichokes (Cynara), lettuce (Lactuca), endive(Cichorium), and salsify (Tragopogon) are commonly eaten as vegetables, and the edible seeds of safflower (Carthamus), and sunflower (Helianthus) are used in the production of cooking oils. Wormwood (Artemisia) is the source of the poisonous oil used to give the liqueur absinthe its distinctive character.
The leaves of Asteraceae are simple or occasionally compound, and their arrangement along the stem may be opposite, alternate, or, less commonly, whorled; not infrequently they are opposite toward the base of the stem and alternate above. (www.britannica.com/plant/Asteraceae)

Tiny flower known as Chicory. I have been chasing macros of this flower for many years. I find it to be unique, similar only to the Himalayan Blue Poppy, yet only one fifth its size. This scene is approx 4:1 macro. The area visible is less than one inch across. Most would walk past it without noticing, but it has a fascinating history.
The Blue Flower (German: Blaue Blume) is a central symbol of Romanticism. It stands for desire, love, and the metaphysical striving for the infinite and unreachable.

I was going to cook decent fried rice; had all the ingredients for it.... But alas, I was just too lazy, tired and HUNGRY to make any effort. And this is the result: super-hyper-lazy-fried-rice. I used whole grain basmati rice (cooked extra last night), an egg and half a bag of mixed salad (carrots, cabbage, radicchio, endive), seasoned with salt & pepper and just a little bit tomato ketchup. It wasn't bad... well, I was anyway too hungry to be bothered much.
Looking like a cross between a lettuce and a cabbage but actually a chicory and the start of a new personal project. To see more please visit brunchatgoodies.wordpress.com/2015/04/06/chicory-endive-w...
Chicory (Cichorium intybus) is a somewhat woody, perennial herbaceous plant usually with 2 to 5 centimetres wide bright blue flowers, rarely white or pink. Chicory was cultivated 5,000 years ago by Egyptians as a medicinal plant.
Many varieties are cultivated for salad leaves, chicons (blanched buds), or for roots (var. sativum), which are baked, ground, and used as a coffee substitute and additive.
It is also grown as a forage crop for livestock.
It lives as a wild plant on roadsides in its native Europe and temperate regions in Asia, and now too common in North America, China, and Australia where it has become widely naturalized.
Chicory is also known as common chicory, blue daisy, blue dandelion, blue sailors, blue weed, bunk, coffeeweed, cornflower, hendibeh, horseweed, ragged sailors, succory, wild bachelor's buttons, wild endive, radicchio, Belgian endive, French endive, red endive, sugarloaf and witloof (or witlof).

The name dandelion is derived from the Old French, dent-de-lion, which is literally "lion's tooth", referring to the sharply-lobed leaves of the plant. The English spelling reflects the French pronunciation at the time this French word was absorbed into English. The first written usage of the word occurs in a herbal dated 1373, but there is a 1363 document in which the word "dandelion" was used as a proper name (Willelmus Dawndelyon).
In Norwegian, the dandelion is called Løvetann, which is also translated as "lion's tooth." In modern French the plant is called pissenlit, which means "urinate in bed", apparently referring to its diuretic properties. Likewise, "pissabeds" is an English folkname for this plant, and "piscialletto" is one of its folknames in Italian (with "dente di leone", meaning "lion's tooth"). Similarly in Spanish, it is known as the "meacamas", but also commonly "diente de león".In Turkish the dandelion called "karahindiba" meaning "black endive"

The common chicory (Cichorium intybus), native of parts of Europe, Asia and of North Africa, but has been introduced to many other parts of the world. Together with its sister species (endive - Cichorium endivia), it is the basis of many cultivars that are eaten as salads. Its roots are used as a coffee substitute. The common name Chicory is used for Cichorium intybus as well Cichorium endivia, which leads to confusion, especially a these two species are closely related and look similar.
Chicory also seems to be know by a few other names as well, including blue weed, blue daisy, blue dandelion, bunk, coffeeweed, hendibeh, horseweed, ragged saliors, succory, wild endive and wild bachelor's buttons!
We love dining at A.R. Valentien Restaurant at the Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. The atmosphere, food, and service are exquisite.
We arrived early and relaxed in a sitting room.
Dine in the Beauty of California Craftsman Design
The restaurant itself is a tribute to Southern California heritage and craftsman architecture, with a metal-strap post-and-beam structure, handcrafted wood-framed windows, stained-glass lanterns and a frieze painted with pine boughs. The layout of the restaurant is also conducive to elegant San Diego fine dining, with several small rooms and intimate plush booths.

AN EXCEPTIONAL FINE DINING EXPERIENCE
The Lodge’s signature restaurant, A.R. Valentien, highlights regional San Diego cuisine served in an elegant, timbered indoor-outdoor dining room overlooking the 18th hole of Torrey Pines Golf Course. Executive Chef Kelli Crosson sources only the best local provisions, and the menu changes frequently based on seasonal fare available. The restaurant takes its name from a talented early 20th-century California artist whose works are exhibited throughout the restaurant.
We each had:
A Mano Burrata and Heirloom - Basil, Arugula, 'Nduja Vinaigrette, Grilled Focaccia
Crispy Skin Kanpachi - Indian Iron Mountain Mushroom, Yu Choy, Porcini Dashi
Dinner always starts with an Amuse Bouche and finishes with Mignardises.

Every element of this setting seems to exude a California-casual meets country-club vibe. Inside, choose from one of the Craftsman post-and-beam dining rooms, warm with amber lanterns and stained-glass light fixtures; or simply head outside to dine on the patio overlooking the pool and 18th hole of Torrey Pines Golf Course. The city's unending growing season means that there is a boundless harvest of local ingredients to inspire this kitchen. Begin with Dungeness crab flan surrounded by watercress, Belgian endive and roasted grapes, drizzled with tangy balsamic dressing. Then, indulge in elevated comfort foods like chicken under a brick, set over Tuscan kale and cannellini beans in tomato sauce. The brûléed lemon sabayon tart is above par and pure joy.
