This is a great sculpture by Malcolm Robertson and it celebrates the town's proud ship building heritage!

Based upon original maritime drawings, Bark Endeavour Whitby was built by one of Whitby's oldest ship builders - Parkol Marine Engineers - over a 12 month period during 2001/02.
The ship's name is partially derived from its traditional 'bark‘ construction, whereby larch planks were meticulously steamed into shape and fastened onto a solid English oak frame. Overall, the ship measures nearly I4 metres in length and 4 metres in width, which is approximately 40% of the original ship‘s size.
Complete with hardwood decks throughout. there are three masts carved from Douglas Fir; These include the 'mizzen’ at the rear, the 'fore‘ mast at the front and the larger ‘main' mast in the centre - which stands some 12 metres above the deck.
Considerable attention to detail has been undertaken throughout the construction to ensure that the ship authentically replicates the many features of the original vessel. This includes intricate rigging and carved timber mouldings, which have been added to compliment the design.
For the comfort of today‘s passengers, Bark Endeavour Whitby is powered by two 6 cylinder, 120 HP engines which enables a travelling speed of 9 knots. In addition, the vessel has been fully equipped with the latest safety aids and navigation instruments to enable a secure passage at all times.

Endeavour set TE2802 and LE2852 in a recently rewrapped NSW TrainLink livery, featuring special text celebrating "150 Years of Rail service from Bundanoon to Marulan", cruise into Marulan as SN39 from Campbelltown to Goulburn.
This weekend in particular was celebrating the 150th anniversary of the section of track south of Moss Vale, so some services were selected to extend their journey to Goulburn, so it is uncommon for an endeavour to venture this far south at this time of day.

Replica of The Endeavour - barque commanded by Capt. James Cook, Cartographer of parts of the east coast of New Holland, now known as Australia, April 1770.
The replica ship is shown moored alongside the Australian National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour, Sydney. Blue hour but the weather was bloody terrible.
I'm posting this in recognition of the Australian National Maritime Museum cooperative with the Rhode Island Marine Archaeology Project (RIMAP).
The original Endeavour was scuttled along with 12 others in the harbour, Newport Rhode Island by the Royal Navy to thwart the French during the American War of Independence, 1778.
RIMAP has been mapping and identifying the scuttled vessels and the Endeavour is of some historical significance to Australia.

This is the replica of the HMS Enndeavour, also known as HM Bark Endeavour, it was a British Royal navy research vessel that Lieutenant James Cook commanded on his first voyage of discovery to Australia and New Zealand from 1769 to 1771. In April 1770, it was the first ship to reach the east coast of Australia. Cook went ashore to what is now known as Botony Bay.

Due to the annual "Brigadoon at Bundanoon" festival at Bundanoon, a number of CityRail Endeavour services were extended from Moss Vale to Bundanoon, to help convey both local and Sydney passengers to and from the festival.
2853 and 2803 are racing south through Werai, on their way to Bundanoon.
One from a favourite setting to capture, a green house. I love how these plants are in a constant endeavour to reach more light. Such enduring spirit is scarcely found in our "superior" life form.
Narrowboat 'ENDEAVOUR' makes it`s way along the Grand Union Canal towards Braunston. It is jabout to enter Lock No.4 where another narrowboat is waiting.

59001 running 782J 1538 Woking Down Yard to Merehead Quarry (Fhh) passing alongside Walworth Rd, Andover. 28/08/2020. My first shot at my new location.
A training ship managed by the Navy and given to Australia in 1988. I've seen her sailing in Port Phillip Bay earlier in the year. Much smaller than the James Craig, it has approx 24 crew (training).
