Orchid show Esslingen 2014

Here are some wild ones growing in the intense sunshine in South Florida on a Live Oak branch. These are about 20 feet high.

The 2018 blooming season has been extraordinary for my Encyclia cordigera. My collection is entirely from Panama; but still shows an amazing variations in shapes, colors and longitude of floral spikes.

All the flowers are sutily fragrant and ants visits them daily in the morning but I'm not sure they act as pollinator.

The Everglades butterfly orchid

Central America, Trinidad and Northern S America. Orchidaceae. Laelia group. Sweetly scented.

This is one Encyclia I had always wanted to have. In fact, I'm sure I have one but it has never bloom for me yet. That is why I am not sure it is the same species.

Love the amount of flowers it puts and the whitish color that makes them stand out in the garden.
