As always thanks for all the encouragement you give me and for the comments, awards, invites and favorites. I try very hard to take the time to recognize those that recognize me, I hope that comes across.

♥ If we're going to bring out the best in people, we, too, need to sow seeds of encouragement.

♥ All of us have opportunities every day to encourage others and help them grow and flourish.

Hello Everyone!

It is a privilege to witness tender interactions such as this parent coaxing the wee one to move into the water. This gives me a warm, fuzzy feeling which I wanted to share with you. For Wannabe Warmer Wednesday, a day to encourage warmth of spirit or weather. WWW!

Thank you for stopping by and for your comments. I do love hearing from you! Have a terrific day!

Macro Mondays: Card

This is a small collection of some greeting cards that I have received over the years. I like to look back and read the personal handwritten messages of love and encouragement written by my family and friends. ❤️

Thank you so much for your visit, comments and faves. HMM to all!

Please continue prayers for my sister's husband Matt. Heartfelt thanks to all of you that have been praying and sending encouragement.

They have done all they can for now to dissolve the many, large blood clots and are going to see how he does in the next couple of days. He also had to go off food for now to try to heal digestive organs. Blood flow still slow in certain areas and kidney function is depressed.

Another shot from my garden on a rainy morning last week. All of the flowers looked lovely covered in raindrops..but it was the tulips that stole the show. They held the droplets so beautifully...they were swollen and clear looking like glass beads. This tulip in particular looked like it had on a raindrop necklace. Please view large :-)

Thank you so much for the faves and comments...I really do appreciate all the encouragement, and love all of the images and stories you share...they give me so much inspiration :-)

Have a great Monday!

When I reached one million clicks in December 2013 after 4 years I never thought about a development like this.

A big thanks to all of you for your support, encouragement and inspiration.

Thank you, my flickr friends, for your friendship, without which, photography is just a lonely hobby.

Keep shining so bright, my friends!

We had gone to the beach to photograph patterns of blown sand in the snow but instead, found ourselves on a totally bare sandy beach. Lot's of ice still out on the lake but the snow had gone in less than 24 hrs on the warm sunny day. While waiting to see what the sunset would present, three riders and their horses came down the beach. One of them, a very reluctant pinto (I think that's the horse breed) being ridden bareback, would not cross the stream with any amount of encouragement. Finally, one of the other riders came back across and splashed through again to show how it's done. With some very loud snorts and whinnies the pinto finally went through.

Shooting directly into the sun, which is something I'm not fond of doing, there was no time for fine tuning the camera settings for fear of missing the moment. I just went with what I had.

Whispering encouragements into the Lamb's ear was all it had taken. Chaos watched as the Lamb opened the first seal, the fingers of her many hands playing along her staff accompanied by the soft metallic sounds of the lantern chain moving against the steel. Whether or not the female figure actually has a face beneath the inky black shroud is a question that has gone unanswered since the beginning.. A few more words are muttered but impossible to make out. Her voice, if that's what it was, came out like a soft breeze moving through the trees, and low enough that only the Lamb could hear them. Moments later the second seal is broken followed by the third...and then the fourth. The air grew heavy as the doors opened, each revealing a mounted figure looming out of the foggy darkness. The four moved toward Chaos, two taking up positions at each of her sides. Raising her right hands, the staff and chain clutched within the triple grip, she extends her arm forward. Not a word was spoken, but as the lantern swung slowly the four urged their mounts into a gallop. The apocalypse is a child of Chaos. It's siblings, Pestilence, War, Famine and Death were it's heralds. Riding far and wide they bestowed their gifts upon humanity, feeding Mother Chaos as they left countless mired in the mortal coil. Like a snowball rolling down a hill and growing with each revolution, so too will Chaos grow in the end of days.

Hebrews 6:17-18 New International Version (NIV)

17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.

To give you a little encouragement in the midst of these horrific fires going on in Australia, meet one of the dogs saving koalas from Australian wildfires - a true story:

abc7.com/5829669/

Thursday, January 9, 2020

As Australian wildfires endanger the lives of thousands of koalas, one dog is stepping up to save her fellow furry friends.

Taylor, a four-year-old English Springer Spaniel, is trained to sniff out koala fur and droppings, said her owner and professional dog trainer Ryan Tate.

To date, Taylor has rescued eight of the country's iconic marsupials from wildfires, which have destroyed more than 2,000 homes, claimed at least 26 human lives and potentially killed thousands of koalas.

Some of these animals were hospitalized, and others were taken to areas deemed safe, Tate said.

Tate and his skillful pup have been traveling along the east coast of Australia for nearly three years. Over her lifetime, Taylor has found more than 50 koalas.

Tate said when the air is still, koalas' scents descend from treetops to the ground, so when Taylor smells an animal, she will sit below a tree and point up.

In more difficult conditions, like the recent fires, she's also trained to find their droppings, and fresh poo is a good indicator that koalas are nearby.

The flag of the Malian people!

The flag of Mali consists of three vertical stripes of equal width. The left stripe is green, the middle one is yellow, and the right one is red. All three colors have important meanings for the Malian people.

Green represents prosperity, fertility, and hope. Yellow is the symbol of the country's wealth, representing the golden sand of the desert and the hot sun that shines on Mali. Red symbolizes the blood shed by national heroes during the struggles for independence and freedom.

A mural painted on a wooden fence, part of the continuing development of and interaction with the Albany County Rail Trail.

Even though it often feels wrong or unimportant, it’s ok to pause, to inhale and exhale a little more slowly and deeply, to truly see and take note of your surroundings, finding beauty and peace in the details of God’s creation around you. Your circumstances are incredibly challenging and you are worthy of taking these moments to care for yourself. Only then, after tending to your own needs, will you be able to care for others in a healthy way.

A few days ago I was struggling a lot with my own intense mental health struggles in addition to the stress and fear of my husband’s health struggles and recent hospitalization. Somehow I found the strength to spend some time outside capturing the beauty I saw in the fog and frost that was visible through the windows that morning—it seemed to tell an important, uplifting story that helped me continue pressing on.

A big thank you to all of you for all your love, friendship, encouragement and support x

“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

TIME OF NO REPLY – NICK DRAKE

THIS IS THE SUMMER OF MY TRANSITION

The devil that was within me

that found me, then drowned me

could not withstand

the beauty of my love for him

the softness of my gentle hand

could not witness the words that I wrote

could not cope with love that gave him hope

he inhabited my soul and it choked him from within

now he scurries through the darkness

avoiding any last vestige of light; avoiding my eyes

he hides and he lies to rid himself of the truth

that he found within that last dance

he burned me, he scorned me, but then he adored me

he haunted my dreams and begged my return

but I found myself healing as I walked along the shore

the pace of my mind slowed; the peace of my mind showed

that at last I could let go and be myself once more

I walked in his shadow, until I found the light

before I lived like a shadow with no strength to fight

A poor tortured soul; I know how that feels

when love can't release him; thaw his soul cold as steel

Sometimes our love falls on stony ground

like the softness of rose petals and the hope that we once found

dashed against the rocks of life's lessons

deafened by the torment that resounds within our caissons

and lifts us up above the maelstrom of the storms

that threaten to define us and defile us; confine us

This is the summer of my transition

as I find my way back to the right path that heals me

I leave him far behind me; the nightmare recedes

now I sleep like an angel on clouds of soft dreams

and feel lucky that I am still here

amid the love of all my friends.

(TL;DR: People, all of us, need to do better and thank you)

I have been trying to delete this Little Blue Heron image for almost six months... I couldn't and instead decided to share it. This is my last bird photo from Haiti where they have a serious solid waste problem. But this message is not directed at Haiti or the Haitian people in any way; there are people there trying to make a difference. And there is indeed so much beauty in Haiti - I have tried to show it as best I can. The "we" in the title is "all of us." I just think we ALL can and have to do better...

I learned how to photograph birds in Haiti (OK, not so well...) and have nothing but the best memories of that and my two years there, the Haitian people, eBird, my birding and explorer friends (Sean, Jim, Debbie, Vanessa, Sinan, Tony, Isabelle, Eric and Jon) , and my work colleagues...

I also wish to take this opportunity to thank flickr and all my flickr buddies for the kind words and encouragement... So. Many. Thanks! Maybe two more photos from Haiti to post here and then upwards and onwards... :-) And again, we just have to do better; we have to...

Your kindness, interest, and encouragement mean a great deal to me. You have helped and are helping me to grow. Learning is a pleasure, but you all make it even more pleasurable.

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

A special thanks for all my flickr friends for all thier well wishes, kind thoughts and prayers. My ever patient hubby dragged me out to this amazing sunset.

I know, I know dragging me out to shot anything is not my norm. But it was the best therapy of all. Being unwell is a big lesson in appreciating how lucky so many of us are to have freedom to pursue our art unhindered by any physical limitations. I will recover, I will get better, but it will be a while.

In the meantime I am grateful for a terrific husband who lugs all my gear, tells me to get over not shooting on a tripod.

Encourages me ever step of the way.

These are my gifts. Having the encouragement of fellow artists from all over. Thanks everyone!
