In the Spacecraft Assembly and Encapsulation Facility 2, workers help put the Thermal Emission Imaging System (THEMIS) in its place on the Mars Odyssey Orbiter. THEMIS will map the mineralogy and morphology of the Martian surface using a high-resolution camera and a thermal infrared imaging spectrometer. The orbiter will carry three science instruments: THEMIS, the Gamma Ray Spectrometer (GRS), and the Mars Radiation Environment Experiment (MARIE). The GRS will achieve global mapping of the elemental composition of the surface and determine the abundance of hydrogen in the shallow subsurface. The MARIE will characterize aspects of the near-space radiation environment with regards to the radiation-related risk to human explorers. The Mars Odyssey Orbiter is scheduled for launch on April 7, 2001, aboard a Delta 7925 rocket from Launch Pad 17-A, Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. These pictures document the construction of Phil Bolger's design number 606 "Clam Skiff" for my brother.

The boat is 18 feet long and 5 feet 3-inches wide. It can be powered by outboards up to 40hp according to the plans, though 15-20hp seems optimal and a 9.9 will suffice.
I built it of marine plywood encapsulated in epoxy and fiberglass. This was my second boat construction project.
Nothing encapsulates the story of the out ward diaspora of the Merchant Princes of Shekavati than the beautiful decaying haveli’s left behind in the small towns of Sikar & Jhunjhunu which made up the Shekavat region of Jaipur State. These Haveli’s bearing names like “Modi ki Haveli”,Khaithan ki Haveli” etc is the who’s who of the current major industrial house’s in India. (Poddar,Bajaj,Goenka,Ruias, Singhania’s et al)
Had visited the deserted town of Chitpur last year to see the mansions of the Bohra’s. These haveli’s I got to see in Jhunjhunu still has people living in some parts of the mansions. The towns of Sikar & Jhunjhuna are still vibrant & full of bright earthy colours.
The quirky,exuberant paintings & murals all over the portions we were allowed to see is lovely. The “Tibrewala” & the “Modi” haveli has Gods, Cars, Trains driven by White Babu’s Mughal motifs & what not…. I saw Bhagat Singh twirling his mushtache on a wall

These artistic products encapsulate the old and the new. They use traditional Desná moulds and newly designed wooden moulds and they embody modern elements and ideas. The glass-maker can then conjure up an infinite combination of colors, patterns and shapes from what was just crystal and glass shards at the beginning. You will appreciate the simplicity of design and the color shades which decorate the diverse interiors.

This photo is from Spencer, one of my colleagues. When the company got a new encapsulation machine (it coats objects in plastic and seals them - like heavy-duty 3D lamination) he encapsulated a fresh banana. The fruit was completely sealed off from air and over the years it has undergone anaerobic decomposition. This photo was taken in 2007 and the banana is now a reddish-brown liquid with lots of black shreds floating in it. The encapsulation remains banana-shaped. Having reached this state, it hasn't visibly changed since.

Encapsulated tubes of creamy light polenta that were topped with saffron yuba (almost like semi-chewy globs of egg white), and seasoned by capers and coffee granules.
This was a substitution course for the cocoa dusted game meat cappuccino - which I was mistakenly given despite having confirmed my cocoa allergy at the beginning of the meal. Tis ok, mistakes happen, and with so many plates and diners to take care of, a slip is forgivable.

NASA's Terra spacecraft (foreground) is ready for encapsulation in the rocket faring behind it. Terra is expected to be launched aboard a Lockheed Martin Atlas IIAS rocket Dec. 16 from Space Launch Complex 3 East at Vandenberg AFB, Calif. Terra comprises five state-of-the-art sets of instruments that will collect data for continuous, long-term records of the state of Earth's land, oceans and atmosphere. Together with data from other satellite systems launched by NASA and other countries, Terra will inaugurate a new self-consistent data record that will be gathered over the next 15 years.
