Hipstamatic camera on the iPhone 4S. This is the tintype package. The Hipstamatic camera was $1.99 and the tintype pak with two tintype film types and something called a 'Tinto 1884' lens was an additional $.99. This is the color tintype film option.

We had a trace of rain today, after 96 days without precipitation.

The clouds to the west cleared enough for some late afternoon sunlight, but were still hanging over the Sandias.

I went strolling along an irrigation canal in the bosque, then ended up along the Rio Grande under the old Alameda bridge.

Found this really cool chair.

And for a change, the infrared filter came off the Fuji X100!

A pretty and creative edit of a bench and planters in the inner courtyard at The Charterhouse - London

This chair was in a corner of Fiddleford Manor near Sturminster Newton, Dorset UK, when I recently visited. I liked the negative space in the scene and the way the light was falling on the chair. I wanted to bring out the detail the wall in post production.

because we need to be brave for being patient

the bravery of listening to our instincts and let them chll out

the bravery of listening to the others and to reflect on their words

the bravery of waiting, when needed, even though the waiting may be long, and the waiting room may be cold, and we may feel the urge to rise up and run away, shouting our rage, before darknes surrounds us

Empty chairs and broken hearts...

I am obsessed with empty chairs recently and I got a comment from my friend. The chair you have chosen is a common type and the setting is not special or without special lighting. It is not unique and cannot be treated as a metaphor in any way.

I find this so familiar. Many have argued that photography cannot be art because it can be reproduced so easily. There is no uniqueness and it could not be an artistic expression. Another person can stand in the same place and take the same shot. Even with different exposure setting and technique, it is still the same subject reproduced in the two-dimensional space. This makes more sound argument when you shoot mundane subjects in daily life.

I will skip the detailed discussions here. Your ideas are very much welcome.

I am a stubborn person and I believe my chair is different from yours even when you stand in the same spot and take the same picture with my camera. :o)

And of course photography is artistic expression in my eyes (even without digital darkroom).

Happy Monday!

I spotted the chair and the curve on pavement. When I took my first composition, I did not see the coffee cup yet.

When I took my second composition, the coffee cup suddenly appeared. I think it is a God's send because it really added a good touch-up for the scene. :o)

back in the day, there was an abandoned chair in my barstow backyard. this is before the landlord redid the hillside, making it terraced concrete blocks to hold up B-Hill.

the old hill had railroad ties holding up the desert which was always sliding down in the rare rain storms.

i had that chair for years! but i ended up finally dumping it without ever thinking it might have been from one of the old restaurants or cafes in town.

DUMB GOOBER!

later i recall seeing a photo which had an interior photo and there was a matching chair.

don't ask me if i remember what eatery.

so i am asking barstow folks, route 66 history people, chair aficionados, does this chair look familiar?

a route 66 artifact i am sure.

it's a small step between saving things because they may be historical and hoarding. a constant struggle to stay on the side of "historical."

I took this photograph a few days ago, from the house, looking at the garden. No chance to get out there today. Same tomorrow. And probably for the next fortnight if the weather forecast is right. There are plenty of jobs to do inside the house, but they’re not as enjoyable! The big picture is however that I am so lucky to have a garden, a house, food, rain…Photograph grabbed with the iPhone.

Yesterday I went with a women's group, Acceuil International, of which I am a member, to visit the Château Malmaison (the former home of empress Josephine, one of Napoleon's wives). It was very cool to walk on the same floors where she walked over 200 years ago. I have always been fascinated by Josephine. It certainly could not have been easy being married to someone with an ego as big as Napoleon's. I learned that she had purchased the house herself, without him, because she wanted a home in the country. So, for her time, she was a bit of a feminist, and I so love that! Long live strong women.
