Shot with the Olympus E-M1, Mark II in Chelsea, Manhattan, New York City. I was happy to see that this iconic diner is back in business and has even expanded.
While the Flickr map shows this location as the Meatpacking District of NYC it is, more accurately, north of that area, in Chelsea.
In color this diner is actually black, white and chrome. Note the person seated outdoors for breakfast in mid-December.

TGIF right? Still not 100% sure what to do for a weekend, but I certainly hope that we get to have fun like for the last one! This image was shot in Grand Haven, MI and the weather was amazing. What is more amazing was the sheer amount of people walking back and forth to the lighthouse! I decided to try my luck from the other side and I think it was right thing to do. What do you think?

The Gazebo at Duck. Hurricane Irene wiped out everything but the roof to the Gazebo but this year, it was finally restored. A marvelous place to sit and wath the sunset over the Currituck Sound. Have a great weekend and thanks for the visit.

Empire Outlets New York City, also known as Harbor Commons, is a 350,000-square-foot (33,000 m2) retail complex in the St. George neighborhood of Staten Island, New York City. Construction on Empire Outlets started in 2015, and it opened on May 15, 2019; when complete it will include 100 designer outlets. It is the first outlet mall in New York City. The mall is located next to the St. George Terminal, a major ferry, train, and bus hub.
Located in the Urubamba Valley, aka the Sacred Valley, most archeologists now believe that Machu Picchu was the private estate of the 9th Inca emperor Pachacuti or Pachacútec. Once the Inca emerged from their ancestral lands around the border area of modern Peru and Bolivia, and began to conquer vast tracts of land, they established their capital at the site of modern day Cusco, Peru around 1420. Just like all roads led to Rome in the Roman Empire, thousand of miles of roads and trails led to Cusco in the Inca Empire. Neither Machu Picchu nor Cusco were ever completed due to the Spanish conquest that began with a military campaign by Francisco Pizarro in 1532. It took 40 years to finally vanquish the Inca. Pizarro was only successful due to a civil war caused by the sons of Pachacútec. He was able to recruit the emperor's rival brother to his side. Machu Picchu was used as a stronghold by the Inca for many years but was eventually abandoned. Terraces below the main level were used to grow food especially maize which was used to make a fermented drink used in festivities and rituals. (There's little doubt that the beverage was called 'Hazy Maizy.")

The fifth image in this series of images I took in and around downtown Toronto. The tall ship Empire Sandy, which runs chartered tours along Toronto's waterfront was originally built as an Englishman/ Larch Deep Sea-class tugboat for war service by the British government in 1943. After the war she served a number of different roles under different names. In the early 1970s she was to be sold for scrap, but fortunately got a new lease on life when she was bought by a new owner who had her completely rebuilt and converted as a three-masted schooner in the style of the 1880s.

Having just emerged from Tunnel 7 and approaching Tunnel 8, the Portland section of Amtrak's eastbound Empire Builder cruises alongside the Columbia River just west of Lyle, WA on a breezy Saturday, March 21, 2026 evening.
Light power from CN train U741 is about to duck under one of two haul road tunnels at Empire while headed to the loadout to fill 60 remaining cars.
