Embroidery thread. It's what all best dressed pegs are wearing this season.

A friend sent me a large box full of craft supplies. After her mother passed away, Patricia didn't want to take the things her mother was so attached to to the thrift store. In the photo, 150 skeins of DMC embroidery thread! There was much more...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With heartfelt and genuine thanks for your kind visit. Have a beautiful day, be well, keep your eyes open, appreciate the beauty surrounding you, enjoy creating, stay safe, and laugh often! ❤️❤️❤️

First attempt at focus stacking in ON1 Photo Raw Max 2024. I only took three images to try the focus stacking as it was handheld and not sure how it would turn out. I should have taken a few more to get the rest of the embroidery thread on the top left in focus but, it's all learning process is my thinking. I have decided I will try to learn photos tacking for macro images this year.

This is my photo for the 52 in 2021 challenge - #37 - String, thread, rope.

This is the box that my son in law made for me many years ago to hold my DMC embroidery thread. A friend painted the sewing bear in the cover which slides down the front of the box.

More of some things that came in a large box from my Aunt's house. I have about 50 wooden spools with different colors of embroidery threads on them. Some are even mixed up.

My Grandmother and Aunt rarely let leftover threads go to waste.

I still have the little lap quilt my Grandmother made for me before I went to college!

decided that I needed help sorting out embroidery thread by taste-testing, 103/365

I look out the window and it's still all gray & white and we're supposed to get 9-15 inches of new snow today. But as I drove around town this week, I started seeing patches of brown grass and the temps were warmer, so I know Spring is coming (we're actually closer to the start of Spring than the start of Winter and that is a wonderful realization). I can't wait to see color again when I look out the window but for now, I've created a little indoors. :-)

Been busy the last couple days... gotta go catch-up now with all your wonderful work!

Hope you've been having a great weekend! HSS

Macro Mondays theme: Sewing Notions

I had so much choice for this theme as I do quite a bit of sewing and my daughter does Textiles A-level. It was too much choice really and took a few experimental shots with lots of different items but kept coming back to this one as it was so colourful. This is how my daughter keeps her embroidery threads - all tangled up in knots, it would drive me mad!

Apologies again for not posting of late. As I stated last time I've just not had the headspace for photography. Now I've taken my eldest at University I should have more time and headspace again. This time I've actually taken a new shot so that's better already! I'll try to catch up with your uploads that I've missed as best I can.

Many thanks for all the favourites and comments. HMM to one and all.

My box of thread for a project I just finished. I always wait until the piece comes back from the dry cleaners before I put the thread away. You never know if you'll have to restitch something after it's been cleaned and pressed so I leave the thread in my little project box. Once I've inspected the piece, I put the bobbins back and start hunting for a new project to occupy my time.

I am still having fun with thread (this time embroidery thread on the table with the beads and the metallic thread is in the needle.

Taken with a Canon FD 50mm 1.8 lens on reverse macro ring on a Canon 1DS Mark III and edited in ON1 Photo Raw Max 2024 adding a minimalist preset.

I want to thank each and everyone who took the time to visit my little space here on Flickr and perhaps gave a like or a comment on my image.

I don't think I have a practical bone in my body, but I've decided it's about time I try to cultivate one. I've bought myself a little 'starter pack' of bits of fabric, ribbon, embroidery thread, buttons etc and I'll see where it takes me. Some of them are in this image. It's likely that I won't produce anything I'd want to show anyone, but who knows. It's quite possible this is the last you'll ever hear of my project. Wish me luck, anyway. :)

The porcelain half doll is one of 4 which arrived recently. She was made in Germany and dates from the 1920s. There's an old Sylko cotton reels box in the background as well as a couple of Sylko wooden cotton reels, which date from the 1930s-early 50s.

Old theme = Green

Happy New Year

I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.

I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.

By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!

thx, stampolina

For the case you wanna send also stamps - it is possible. (...I'm pretty sure you'll see these stamps on this photostream on flickr :) thx!

A piece finished a couple of weeks ago. The colours/squares were inspired from a combo of my cats tails stripes (I know, I'm weird!) and the black/white doodling happening around the place.

no plans really, just to keep within reach and to inspire...

Goodness, this is one of my fave pages from a few months ago when I guess designed for Bella Blvd - and I just realized I forgot to upload it around!!

It's a lil page about my new crafty obsession - all things yarn. :) I had the yarn ball idea in my head for ages, it was super-fun to finally do!

I used lots of Bella Blvd on this one, with some Cosmo Cricket stickers in, cuz they were just perfect. :)

All French Knots in this 4-inch embroidery hoop, ranging from dark evergreen in the center to very pale moss green on the outside. I stained the wooden hoop a chestnut brown to really tie in with the greens.
