Pictures from the deck, today--May 9, 2012 in Columbia County, New York, USA. We were so excited to see an Indigo Bunting, briefly, light on the deck railing to have a look around. We've only seen them a couple of times in the past 8 years &, usually, at dusk. I had my camera in the kitchen, so I grabbed it & was able to get a few shots through the window. Unfortunately, none were clear. I decided to play with a few effects again, just so I could share the visit.

I love these small decorations because they can make great gift toppers as well as tree or branches or wreath decorations.

Pattern "Embossed Leaves" by Mona Schmidt from Favorite Socks, Interweave, knit in Malabrigo yarn, color Primavera
I laid string across my plate after I inked it up but before I printed it. It embossed the paper so I painted one of the indents black and left the rest the paper color.

depth of field is crap on this photo, but the glittery bits showed up best on this. I used some glitter embossing powder I've had for AGES. it stuck to the ink really well - happy discovery - so that's how I used it on the icicles for the one house. For the star, I painted modpodge on it then sprinkled the glitter. Heated with heat gun/dryer.
