It's so embarrassing
All of the things I need living inside of me
I can't see it
It's so embarrassing
All of the love I seek living inside of me
I can't see, I'm blind
The sun touches the landscape of the Yosemite Valley. I was walking along the Merced River trying to get a different vantage point of this vista. The water was calm and I was excited about the reflections being captured on this evening. As I was walking along the riverbank, I had to keep pushing some limbs back out of the way so I could set up. I ended up getting bushwhacked by one in my right eye. Nothing serious but it could have been. It was one of those where your eye keeps watering for a long time. I dealt with it for a little bit and was very embarrassed to have it happen. Nobody really noticed but it was a simple reminder to stay on the path and be careful. It was just after this that we drove up to the Tunnel View to capture some moonrise images.

I am so embarrassed. I had my photo deleted. (Monarch in field) Not good for a Moderator not to follow the rules. I knew it to, it just slip this old fart's mind. So Sorry Maria and other SoS folk. 😞😧

Okay, embarrassing confession time (we're all friends here, right?)! This shot is from a few years ago, looking through the smoke filled air at the sunset from Boy Scout Camp Meriwether on the Oregon Coast. The confession? I've been at the beach all week with my family, and even had my laptop along, but forgot the card reader for the XQD cards!!! Thus the posting of old shots for now. Looking forward to processing some from this trip to post over the next few weeks...

When you get embarrassed in front of the person you love.....
In these difficult times, recalling the cute little moments when we first fell in love, is good for the soul...try it ;-)
“Most things in life are moments of pleasure and a lifetime of embarrassment; photography is a moment of embarrassment and a lifetime of pleasure.” – ~Tony Benn~
Enjoy a peaceful and tender evening everyone!
"Won't somebody tell me where is love?
I know when I see her face,
She will soon replace the pain that I've uncovered.
Where is Love?
And why does it hurt so much?
And will I measure up if I get to hold her?
The angel on my shoulder.
You can be disheartened,
Made a fool again.
You can't see the future,
And who knows how this ends.
Now I hear you calling,
The dance has just begun.
Head and heals I'm falling are you gonna be the one?....."
This absolutely lovely 1966 Austin Mini was going really well. The car was sold with the standard 848 cc engine but under the bonnet it now houses a larger 1,293 cc replacement. All cars are timed on the hill climb and it is really surprising to note that these original series Mini's outpace many a car with a much greater racing pedigree. I won't embarrass the owners of the other marques, suffice to say that virtually all race tuned versions of production cars from the 1960's through to the present day would struggle to compete with the best of these Mini's. They are lightweight, low to the ground and from personal experience really exhilarating to drive.
Photo taken at last weekend's annual Classic car event at Harewood Hill. I thought a diagonal presentation might help emphasis the speed of the event.
Well, this is kind of embarrassing. This is not the photo I intended to end up with. Instead, it is a half-completed bit of post-production. And it will never be completed… and this is the embarrassing bit… when I was saving the working file I mistakenly saved it has a jpeg and lost all the layers, etc. If you think “that’s just too purple” then you are probably right. But that’s the way it is and that’s the way it will stay (for now at least).
The location is the iconic Lyveden New Bield in Northamptonshire. I got there just before dawn on a frosty morning and it was glorious to watch the frozen reflection of the sky change from a deep blue through the shades to a warm orange (it probably went purple, too. Or so I keep telling myself).
At least all my mishaps were on the PC and did not involve injuring my body or losing my trousers (yes, I’m looking at you, Paul)
Equipment: Nikon D7000, Nikkor 10-24mm @12mm. ISO 400, F5.6, 1/200 sec.
Post-production: from what I can remember… A few curve layers applied to dodge/burn. Colour Balance layer used to adjust the colours – boosted blue in the shadows, boosted red/yellow in the highlights.
Snapped at the local harbour on a particularly foggy morning earlier in the month. No plans to venture out togging but the appearance of the fog persuaded me that there could be a picture out there and that I should make the effort.
Foggy conditions in the harbour can be quite beneficial because it often helps simplify a composition and hide much of the usual flotsam which can otherwise detract.
With only the occasional jogger looming out of the mist for company, I set myself up on the narrow floating jetty that juts into the harbour and found myself spoilt for choice in terms of composition. Boats were appearing and disappearing with the strength of the fog and that in turn opened up different compositional options. When the conditions are favourable, the harbour can be a good place to be with a camera!
The birds, I’m embarrassed to say, were the result of a completely fortuitous photobomb. I had been focusing on the boats with camera locked and loaded on tripod. I heard the unmistakable whoosh of bird wings from behind me and was using bracketing to hedge my bets on the exposure. When I triggered this series of shots the birds and their reflections just filled each frame better than I could ever have arranged. I’m not sure how often I could count on that happening!
Thanks as always for your interest and support.

We can blame that.

Seemingly freshly minted Hoover, 50008 'Thunderer', lives up to its name as she makes a spirited start from Totnes station up the infamous Rattery Bank - one of the three significant inclines on the route between Exeter and Plymouth collectively known as the South Devon Banks.
While it's not particularly visible in this view Rattery Bank starts almost at the end of the platform and lasts for just over 4 miles varying between 1 in 45 and 1 in 80, before easing to 1 in 90 and then increasing to 1 in 65.
The route was such a challenge in steam days that an extra loco was required for the heavy expresses, and later even the diesels wouldn't treat this route lightly with any weakness potentially a source of delay, or worse, an embarrassing failure. It wouldn't be the first time I've ridden up where, even under clear signals, the train was barely doing 10 mph over the top.
Given the apparently relaxed ambience of the driver looking out of the side window, I'm presuming on this occasion 50008 was as good 'under the bonnet' as she looked externally. Or maybe he was just waiting for the right-hand curve a few hundred yards up the track to look back and check he still had eleven on!
Despite being withdrawn from BR service in 1992, 50008 has lived on under private ownership and has even hauled a few freight trains around the network over the last 12 months.
I'm guessing I took this from Malt Hill over-bridge before the A381 'Western Bypass' was built impeding the view looking the other way.

Embarrassed. That's what we were. An elite squad of clones, sidelined 'cause some Admiral made some bad decisions. Things didn't get any better once the orders finally came in. "Corellia?" Winslow scoffed, "That doesn't sound like the frontlines to me." "Yeah . . . It doesn't sound like 'blasting droids' either," N'Case added.
The Laatie dropped us off somewhere away from the crowds. I don't remember much of the trek there, I just remember what happened once we made it into town. We heard chanting in the distance, I couldn't make out the words, it just sounded angry. We made our way around a corner only to discover a small group of what looked like workers, hoisting signs high above their heads. "What are they so upset about?" Winslow wondered. "I don't know, but they seem . . . passionate about it," I replied.

English
Heaven above Richter ...
Richter in the sky (The judge in heaven ...)
Blue is freedom, like the sky, blue is the depth of our soul, like the sea.
I read this saying in the exhibition by Yoko Ono (not by her) ... that was about the only uplifting thing in the exhibition ;-) ...
Man as the measure of all (better - the) things ...
I saw this picture of clouds and photographed it ... then I saw these two friends and asked them to step in front of the picture ...
I could have said “hi girls, relax, take it easy” ... but that would have been totally wrong, totally embarrassing ...
good girlfriends don't let anything come between them, they wear at least the same shoes and do almost everything in sync ... so it couldn't have been better ... it was wonderful how enthusiastic they were about their photos afterwards, open, full of trust and curiosity ...
I was glad that I also took this photo, because I didn't even realize how high the picture was and its proportions ...
Three days in a row in Düsseldorf ... and it was good ...

My Huggable Star was from Hopscotch , it was a gacha and I think the store in world might be gone, but there are plenty on MP!
After embarrassing myself as told in the story with this post: flic.kr/p/2nESwS7 I vowed to get it right this time. Consequently I had no choice but to return here for my last shot of the day during this, the biggest show in steam of the year.
This third outing of the reincarnated 'Reading Rambles' was once again led by Reading and Northern 4-8-4 2102 which returned to service this year after a more than three decade slumber. Built in the Reading Company's own shops in 1945 the stout T-1 was doubled headed for one trip only with long time steam star 425. Almost two decades older, the high-drivered 4-6-2 light Pacific was built by Baldwin in 1928 for the Gulf, Mobile & Northern. The steam duo is leading 19 cars with a sold out train of nearly 800 passengers headed back to North Reading after a day long outing to Jim Thorpe.
To learn more about these locomotives check out the RBMN's pages on them here: www.rbmnrr-passenger.com/2102-updates
They are seen here passing the photo line and crossing Molino Road at MP 81.1 on the modern day Reading and Northern Railroad's Reading Division mainline.

I was actually embarrassed to be seen with my camera this day after seeing a group of 5-6 birders/photographers far ahead of me walking about 20 feet apart herding these birds down the beach. It seemed that whenever the Bluebirds landed the photographers started to circle around them and the birds were pushed further along the beach. We all make the mistake of getting to close and flushing the birds at times but this was ongoing, apparently the photos were more important than the birds having a chance to feed. I turned away from the beach and went in search of other birds. Later in the day I returned to the beach. Upon seeing the bluebirds again I got a bit closer then planted myself down in the sand; I was rewarded when (see next photos) this bird landed only about 10 feet in front of me.
Colour me embarrassed .... yesterday's post of the Loon was not a photograph but a creation by an artificial intelligence. I instructed the 'Bing AI' app on my phone to construct a picture of "a Loon on a lake" and that image is what I got back. I titled it and tagged it in a manner that would expose it for what it was and I placed it in the albums 'Abstract' &'Just Because' and I even included a link to a song titled "Won't Get Fooled Again." I thought it would be obvious to viewers it wasn't my photograph. The joke was on me though because as best as I can tell no one picked up on any of my 'clues' and every one thought it was one of my 'real' Loon photos. I have no real interest in generating AI images but I can see many others including some of my long-time contacts on Flickr are using AI extensively so I thought I would 'give it a try' to see what the fuss was about. My small experiment tells me that photography is undergoing a marked transformation, a sea-change of sorts and our artful pursuit is not what it once was although I have no great insight into what it will become.
The photo above is a real product of light and I have no intention of posting any other images that are not 'written with light.' Please forgive me for my unintended deception. Cheers!

ANOTHER STORY:
Tangle, looking extremely embarrassed by her brother's wolfish behaviour, is our youngest dog and a really tiny whippet. She is a very very soft dog and is frequently scared by things only she can see. Once she was running on the beach and yelped. Nothing happened that I could see, no dog was near her, she didn't hurt herself, but she was trembling and for weeks after that I had to keep her on leash just to make sure she wouldn't run back to the car from the beach.
The one place she's never been afraid is the woods - and here she is (the fussiest little whippet) on a freezing cold day waiting for me on one of the fields that we stop at during our hike. She frequently rolls in horrid smelling puddles and is thickly covered from toe to head with slimy muck. Luckily whippets clean up quickly, but I've had to stand in freezing cold streams, trying to clean her up enough to get her in the car for the drive home.
Trump yet again embarrassed America by making up fake incidents of violence. This time, instead of making up fake terrorist attacks in Atlanta and Bowling Green that never happened, he decided to make up violence in Sweden, which caused many Americans to laugh at him. But, seriously, this is a real problem. The facts are, Sweden has accepted many refugees and their crime and unemployment rate is much lower than the US per capita. We are doing it wrong....it can't all just be in their lingonberries..it has to also be in their policies. We aren't happy Americans and we won't be until we have a real change, which means the absolute opposite direction of Trump.
I am not saying Sweden is perfect (it would be better without the lutefisk for instance) and there has been some unrest but it's still a paradise compared to America.
Carl Bildt, Sweden’s former Prime Minister, recently disparaged and tweeted to Trump saying, “last year there were approximately 50 percent more murders only in Orlando/Orange in Florida, where Trump spoke the other day, than in all of Sweden. Bad.”

Well, hello there cowboy!
Oh man, this is probably the most embarrassing four of the group - the first and last pose are just ... awesome.
And that second pose? I mean business.
This was pretty soon after I had gotten my braces off (which means I'm 13 or 14). I vaguely remember that the makeup was VERY thick.
It's embarrassing how many cobwebs and dog hairs the small animals find behind our furniture. Here I bring this stag beetle girl outside. Yesterday we had a cornu aspersum with cobwebs and dog hairs. We've put it outside. Fun fact is, that the giant house spiders don't collect dirt before I find them and scream (I would be good in a bad horror movie). Two days ago, I saw a giant house spider in the bathroom. I screamed, and the brave husband caught the girl (it was a girl) in a glass and threw her outside. I'm sure she comes right back inside to look for a cosy spot for to make a cocoon. She was completely clean!
When your daughter take you to live in her home, and you come athome, and you CAUGHT them (daughter & her girl) on the sofa..........................sighs... embarrassing

This juvenile Gray Catbird wasn't too comfortable with his wings. He had difficulty with his landing apparatus, tilting sideways as he touched down and unable to achieve balance. After several minutes of experimentation he finally managed to sit properly but he still didn't know what to do with his wings, so he just let them droop. After several attempts he figured out how to maneuver them to their proper positions alongside his body. It took him at least ten minutes to finally get settled. I think he needs to return to bird training school and take a refresher course on proper landing skills. It was quite entertaining to watch him, and he did seem to be a bit embarrassed. Backyard bird.
You get yourself ready, you’re looking forward to the date, you go there, and "absolute nightmare" they stand you up. There’s the rejection, the humiliation. It’s certainly not nice.
Being "stood up":
If your date doesn’t show, doesn’t text, and you’re just left waiting with no sign of them – you’ve been stood up.
It also means that if you get yourself ready, get yourself there, you text to see if they’re on their way and they then tell you they can’t make it – you’ve still been stood up.
Keep Your Cool
First up then, if you get stood up, and you’re still out at the venue – whatever emotions start to wash over you, take some deep breaths. Keep your cool and stay composed.
Yes it hurts, yes perhaps it feels a little embarrassing. But no-one knows what’s going on, no-one’s watching you or judging you – no matter how self-conscious you may now feel. So try to relax and don’t get too worked up.
Dating for me was half a century ago so the memories have faded - but not entirely gone. The poor girl looks devastated.
I'd like to think this driver was embarrassed rather than laughing about the situation.
The Amboseli National Park was the only one of three parks we visited where the public are able to take in their own (or perhaps hire cars). In this case the lady had tried to get up a steep hill out of sight to the left of this view and failed. She then proceeded to reverse back downhill and tried a three point turn without realising that there was a hump at the side of the road. Once over it she snagged amongst other things her exhaust and became stuck. Despite the best efforts of many this car was still there an hour and a half later.
I'm sure that a she will have a hefty repair/insurance bill.

All Saints' Church, lychgate and village bus-stop (where I alighted from the New Alresford-Petersfield bus.)
I'm rather embarrassed to admit I've never paid much attention to All Saints when I've seen it in other photographs, admiring its commanding position, but thinking it to be a rather lumpen, heavy-handed Victorian affair. Turns out to be the real deal, built somewhere between 1080 and the 1130's although various medieval alterations and chapels were added. The tower with its finely carved bell openings and roundels dates to around 1150 and its broach spire 1230.
Architectural historians seem to swoon at it, but I wasn't so keen, finding its interior a little too spartan for my tastes. Perhaps the church's most important and famous feature is its rare 'Tournai' font.

Anyone paying close attention will notice that I missed a 365 yesterday. My bad! I was stressed out all day, and then once the stress ended, I was pleasantly otherwise distracted. Three minutes after midnight, I realized I hadn't taken a photo. Oh well.
I’m embarrassed to admit how many times I started editing this photo, scrapped it and started over. In fact, I think I lost count somewhere after the 10th time. I thought about giving up yet again this time but finally was able to get it over the hump and to a point I felt it good enough to share. Enjoy.
