U-haul Kitty....
A few weeks back I helped my Dad move from his home in Quinte to his new home in Kingston. My brothers and brothers in law had rented a U-haul Truck and while there picking up the truck and supplies, I was told to go get a few boxes.
When I got to where the boxes are kept, I found that a large but very pretty kitty had made his bed on them and refused to move so I could grab the ones we needed.
he was finally persuaded to give up his resting place when the shop manager coaxed him away with treats.
He was very friendly and purred quite loudly and despite my attempts to pick him up and move him, he clawed his paws deeper into the boxes and I certainly didn't want to hurt the poor guy!.
Thank you for visiting for marking my photo as a favourite and for the kind comments,

I was assisting my 1-2-1 client yesterday down at Ashness Bridge when having made sure that Andrew bagged himself a beauty, I then shot this scene. Andrew saw the potential in the scene that you can see and between us, we ended up with this composition of this lovely old stone packhorse bridge.
It is located on the road to Watendlath which starts opposite the iconic Ashness Landing Pier. The bridge is very tight and care must be taken when driving over it yet it draws large numbers of people daily who want to capture it on camera. I'm happy enough with the composition.

Above. Is this a real email from Flickr or is it a SPAM email???
I received this today and thought I'd try to find out if anyone else has received this email... I have my suspicions as it uses an email of mine (Deleted from photo) not associated with my Flickr account. So the two should not be linked in any way.
It's a very long and convincing email with lots of clickable links further down the page. (Which you should NOT click on)!!!
Please inform me if anyone else has received one of these emails, and - is it real?.

It was built specially for the sculpture garden at the Kröller-Müller museum in the Netherlands where it still stands today.

While deleting a few very old emails, I came across this link that I had saved from 2010 - Rick Mercer and Bird Banding. Not sure if I ever posted it to Flickr. For anyone familiar with Rick Mercer, you know there will be a few laughs, as well as interesting information.

On 2 December 2025, I finally got out for a drive, the first one since 28 September 2025. The weather was awful - cold (but not bitterly cold), completely overcast, low visibility, and snowing a lot of the time, thankfully fairly light, but rather ice pellets than big, white snowflakes. Definitely not the best for taking photos. However, my daughter and I had planned an outing, as she had a free day, a very early Christmas get-together. Each year, we celebrate Christmas by going out for the day, looking for birds and wildlife and anything else. Hopefully, she will have another free day between now and the end of December, to go and have a longer look for Snowy Owls.
We started the day by driving south and calling in at the Saskatoon Farm, where we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, served by a delightful young lady. Lovely to have a chat with Karen, the main owner of the Farm, and her adult children. Thank you for the cookies, Karen! This family works so hard, as do all the workers at the Farm, both inside and outdoors, year-round, apart from a well-deserved break for a few weeks either side of Christmas. We saw decorations to be photographed, and we loved the huge gnome that had been cleverly constructed mainly from twigs. There are quite a lot of much smaller versions (for sale), but I don't remember ever seeing a giant one like this before.
Took me a while to post any photos from this outing, after I had figured out how to use the tiny SD card reader that I had to buy for my new computer. I guess newer computers no longer come with a CD/DVD slot or a slot for an SD card.
From the Farm, we drove southwards, really to see what the roads were like. The main roads were safe to drive, though there were lots of huge trucks/trailers that splashed all the slush over my car. I resisted the temptation to drive more than one back road this time. Happy to see a couple of Ring-necked Pheasants, though they immediately disappeared into the bushes. Managed a rapid shot in their direction but couldn't actually see them. When I got home, and checked through my photos, I was very surprised to see the back half of one of these birds (male). A distant deer in a snowy field of stubble was nice to see, too. At another location, my daughter spotted a flock of Gray Partridge. They ran across the road ahead of us and into a farmers open yard, giving us a chance to get a couple of distant shots.
An enjoyable few hours, despite the weather. A day out with my daughter is always my favourite kind of day. Thanks, Rachel!

Bow Bridge.
Winter in Central Park, New York City.
"When Frederick Law Olmsted (1822-1903) and Calvert Vaux (1824-1895) designed Central Park in 1858, they developed an innovative interwoven transportation system of pedestrian paths, bridle trails, and carriage drives. Since the park is only one-half mile wide, the designers had to create a compact system of bridges and arches that allowed for separate levels of pathways. Vaux and his assistant Jacob Wrey Mould (1825-1886) created 35 unique structures, each with its own distinct style. They used brick, granite, marble, cast iron, and rustic wood and fashioned rusticated gneiss boulders out of the rock outcrops. Subsequent changes in the system of paths led to tearing down three of the original arches and the construction of four others.
Bow Bridge, shaped like an archer's bow, was built between 1859 and 1862. It connects the Ramble and Cherry Hill, and spans more than 60 feet of the Lake. Because the south bank was higher than the north, construction of the cast iron bridge included raising the height of its northern abutment. Janes, Kirkland, and Co., the firm responsible for the dome of The Capitol in Washington, D.C., did the ironwork for the span of Bow Bridge. Vaux and Mould created the ornamental iron railing that incorporates elements of Gothic, Neo-Classical, and Renaissance design."

Group photograph of Armstrong Whitworth employees taken at the Elswick Works, Newcastle upon Tyne, during the First World War (TWAM ref. DS.VA/9/PH/19/4).
‘Workshop of the World’ is a phrase often used to describe Britain’s manufacturing dominance during the Nineteenth Century. It’s also a very apt description for the Elswick Works and Scotswood Works of Vickers Armstrong and its predecessor companies. These great factories, situated in Newcastle along the banks of the River Tyne, employed hundreds of thousands of men and women and built a huge variety of products for customers around the globe.
The Elswick Works was established by William George Armstrong (later Lord Armstrong) in 1847 to manufacture hydraulic cranes. From these relatively humble beginnings the company diversified into many fields including shipbuilding, armaments and locomotives. By 1953 the Elswick Works covered 70 acres and extended over a mile along the River Tyne. This set of images, mostly taken from our Vickers Armstrong collection, includes fascinating views of the factories at Elswick and Scotswood, the products they produced and the people that worked there. By preserving these archives we can ensure that their legacy lives on.

Espero que gostem e fiquem à vontade na minha galeria;
