Another photo of a wild storm front whilst on holiday on the river Murray South Australia.

A wild day whilst on our houseboat trip up the River Murray South Australia, this was a combination of a very nasty fire front and the smoke, dust and storm front that was blown our way...

Our most delicate, dainty butterfly seen in Chiddingfold forest.

Thought I'd try a different angle on this shot.Taken very early as the Adonis was waking and warming up at the first rays of the sun against a pale blue sky.

Busy hunting on the ground among the heather when he/she spotted me he/she decided to take to the high ground and flew up into this old tree.

Both butterflies photographed on a recent blustery day on Denbies Hillside,National Trust.

Making the most from a great sunset and a muddy puddle.

I decided to take a series of shots of the butterflies I've photographed this season, very early in the morning all backlit. This is the first,a Chalkhill Blue roosting on Agrimony,on a very wet hillside, all the grasses were lit with raindrops, giving this beautiful defocused bokeh.

Image underexposed one stop for the shadows to retain enough detail in the butterfly and highlights recovered in post, minimum processing, nature did the rest.

Worth viewing large...cheers.

Thanks to all who view, fave, and comment...thanks.

Backlit Pristine Clouded Yellow found nectaring on Fleabane at RSPB Pulborough down the Zig-Zag.

I had great fun trying to get a shot of this very mobile butterfly, they never land for long, continuously flying between the large flower beds at Pulborough, sometimes disappearing, only to reappear a little while later. After many failed attempts, and many rubbish shots I got this backlit image with defocused highlights behind him.

Had a good day at Denbie Hillside,National Trust yesterday.Although the breeze was challenging, and the butterflies flighty,we have a small area which can be relied upon for species, slightly sheltered, and when the sun comes out a bit of a heat trap.

We spotted Green Hairstreak,Grizzled and Dingy Skippers,4 Adonis Blues(very flighty)Common Blues,Brimstone,Orange Tip,Peacock,Small Copper,and one of my favourites,the Brown Argus.

I followed this particular butterfly as it flew around, hoping it would land on a stem or dead flower head. After some not so good shots, the butterfly settled on this tallish stem,a bit wavy in the breeze, but at least it seemed to be resting for a while.I've always liked backlighting, and on this occasion the stem was long enough to get under the Argus and take several shots,I also noticed that a fine gossamer web on the stem with trapped moisture, also lit up by the sun.

Please view large to get the full effect of the light..thanks.

Sunset waves over the beach at Carackalinga South Australia, taken with the Olympus OMD Em5mk2 and 12-40mm f2.8 Pro

After following this butterfly, hoping it would land long enough to take some shots, and the breeze would abate long enough when it did land. It finally came to rest on this very delicate plant (name unknown, can anybody identify for me?) and allowed me to get close enough to take some shots, of this beautiful butterfly.
