The second Boeing-built Inmarsat-5 Global Xpress satellite shipped from Boeing’s El Segundo, Calif. facility to Baikonur Kazakhstan. From there, Inmarsat-5 F2 will undergo tests, fueling and integration before being launched in early 2015.

A few blocks from my house is the El Segundo Chevron oil refinery. Three police cars came while I was taking this photograph. They were very nice, and given that I was outside the premises, there is nothing illegal about it. If I could get a bit closer those annoying cables would be behind me.
I shot about 500 images on the high speed setting. About 10% actually had a drop in them, and only two had a drop that had started to fall.
I bought a 60mm macro lens a while back, but I almost never use it. I see all the wonderful macros people post, and I could never get mine to be on focus. Manual focus worked better for me. This is the first time I get the part of the flower I want in sharp focus. Speed also helps to counteract slight wind. And a piece of white paper to soften the shadows. I couldn't believe that actually works. With the excitment focusing I didn't pay enough attention to the composition, and I didn't see the parts touching. Now that I can control the focus I can start looking for nicer compositions.

- ISO 100, 60mm, f2.8, 1/400sec on tripod.
Processing:
- Levels adjustment.
- In fact, I played around with a bunch of the Nik filter effects and nothing looked as nice as the original. I am not used to that.

Starting 'em out right at the Automotive Driving Museum in El Segundo, California, near Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX). That's a circa 1970 Dodge Challenger set up for competition.
One of the great things about that museum is that they'll let you touch and sit in the vehicles. On Sundays they even offer rides in some of the cars in their collection.
That 'Plum Crazy' color of the car goes with her jacket pretty well.
