so 2 things happened: 1. I turned 50 years old; and 2. 3 days later I fractured my arm at the elbow riding my elliptigo bike (think an elliptical machine at the gym crossed with a push-bike, or a stand-up bike?)

Taken at the Arizona Road Racers Summer Series 2 5k race in north Phoenix. There were lots of pretty women at the race. This one was simply a bystander riding a contraption I've never seen before. She stood on it like a stair-stepper. It would be interesting to see how fast she can propel it.

This bicycle is "ridden" standing up, using pedals with an elliptical movement. I was fascinated by the movement - and by how quickly the rider folded it up and put it into the trunk of a small car.

Furzton Lake MK. These stand up Elliptigo bikes look hard work to me. Apparently the rider burns 33% more calories than on a traditional bike and receives “a full body workout”. Maybe that’s why this rider looks a bit red faced!

A delightful variety of bikes parked at a Gold Line station in South Pasadena, NE of downtown--including a pair of Elliptigos, a kid trailer, a tandem, and a vintage cruiser.
I suspect more came for the shopping than the train, as this is by a wonderful little Main Streetish shopping area...that has no bike racks yet.
I arrived on the mountain just as a few ElliptiGO riders were just making their way down the mountain. This isn't very unusual, but was unusual was the amount of riders behind them. I couldn't figure out why there were so many on the mountain that day.
I had missed the memo about it being the 2012 world chamionships for ElliptiGO.
