“Why does a human body become deceased ?
The reason is that as long as the human body is not free from suffering, mind cannot be happy.
If a man lacks enthusiasm, either his body or mind is in a deceased condition....
Now what saps the enthusiasm in man ?
If there is no enthusiasm, life becomes drudgery - a mere burden to be dragged.
Nothing can be achieved if there is no enthusiasm.
The main reason for this lack of enthusiasm on the part of a man is that an individual looses the hope of getting an opportunity to elevate himself.
Hopelessness leads to lack of enthusiasm.
The mind in such cases becomes deceased....
When is enthusiasm created ?
When one breaths an atmosphere where one is sure of getting the legitimate reward for one's labor, only then one feels enriched by enthusiasm and inspiration.”

I do my best to be my own worst critic. I complain in my own head when I'm doing photo shoots and I start to get lazy, leaning on ideas that I've tried too many times or concepts that seem similar to things that have come before. I've been doing photography for at least 7 1/2 years, so you start to exhaust some of your ideas from time to time and have to push yourself to find a new variation on an old theme.
But sometimes, I get to shoot with Kiersten. She makes everything look good and effortlessly beautiful. It's got nothing to do with me; she looks like she stepped out of a Vogue Magazine while she's waiting for me to remember how my cameras work, so it's all I can do to keep up and try to pull my weight. It makes photographic adventures a lot of fun when you've got someone who elevates everything you're trying to do even before you've thought of it.

This one and others like it were taken the first day in the Tetons. Having been in Yellowstone for a week, we had to drive back into Idaho and through Driggs to get to Jackson Hole as several roads in Yellowstone were closed due to snow and ice. After dropping our gear at the hotel, my brother and I drove into Grand Teton N.P. and were greeted with bitter cold temperatures and over 16 inches of snow, more than I have seen in Nashville in many, many years. What a thrill!

I got the drone up for an afternoon flight over our neighborhood. I captured a video clip and a whole bunch of images (including two panoramas).

Hong Kong, China.
Land reclamation is practically endemic to Hong Kong. Because the land area is so small (426 sq miles / 1,104 sq km) for a growing population of more than 7 million, land reclamation projects have been aggressive in this region since the late 1800s. As many residents and visitors will testify, Victoria Harbour’s width has narrowed so much over the centuries that it is predicted that Hong Kong Island will essentially adjoin Kowloon and become a peninsula within the next 50 years.

Devil's Hall Trail
Guadalupe Mountains National Park is in the Guadalupe Mountains of West Texas and contains Guadalupe Peak, the highest point in Texas at 8,749 feet (2,667 m) in elevation. Located east of El Paso, it also contains El Capitan, long used as a landmark by people traveling along the old route later followed by the Butterfield Overland Mail stagecoach line. Visitors can see the ruins of an old stagecoach station near the Pine Springs Visitor Center. Camping is available at the Pine Springs Campground and Dog Canyon. The restored Frijole Ranch House is now a small museum of local ranching history and is the trailhead for Smith Spring. The park covers 86,367 acres (134.95 sq mi; 349.51 km2) and is in the same mountain range as Carlsbad Caverns National Park which is located about 25 miles (40 km) to the north in New Mexico. Numerous well-established trails exist in the park for hiking and horse-riding. The Guadalupe Peak Trail offers perhaps the most outstanding views in the park. Climbing over 3,000 feet (910 m) to the summit of Guadalupe Peak, the trail winds through pinyon pine and Douglas-fir forests and offers spectacular views of El Capitan and the vast Chihuahuan Desert.
The park also contains McKittrick Canyon. A trail in the canyon leads to a stone cabin built in the early 1930s, formerly the vacation home of Wallace Pratt, a petroleum geologist who donated the land in order to establish the park.
Dog Canyon, on the northern park boundary at the Texas-New Mexico State line is reached by driving through Carlsbad, New Mexico or Dell City, Texas. There is a campground which accommodates tent campers, recreational vehicles, and horse trailers. There is a public corral for livestock available by reservation.
On the west side of the park near Dell City lie the impressive and beautiful gypsum sand dunes. Another attraction is the Williams Ranch.

The Devil’s Hall Trail is a relatively easy hike up Pine Spring Canyon to a narrow, scenic canyon. It is a particularly beautiful hike in the fall when the big-toothed maple trees in the canyon are turning brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. Any time of year hikers can marvel at the large cliffs rising up to Guadalupe Peak and the geological processes that created Devil’s Hall and the Hiker’s Staircase.
This is a moderate 4.2 mile round trip hike with minimal elevation gain. It will take from 2 to 3 hours to complete the round trip hike.

A trip around the Chicago Loop on the ‘L’ is a fun and inexpensive ride, with many signature downtown buildings looming high above the trains. I like the glass walkway too that connects the buildings close to Dearborn/Van Buren station.
WMS Boathouse, Clark Park, Chicago.
Architect: Studio Gang Architects
Completed: 2013
The WMS boathouse comprises two buildings - a two story "field house", containing Chicago Park District offices, row tank, and ergometer room; and the single story boat storage building.
The boat storage building is clad in slate shingles on the east and west elevations and on the raked roof profiles. Zinc panels are used on the vertical sawtooth roof sections, and on the north, west and south elevations. Folded zinc panels used to form gutters at the northern (lower) pitch of each sawtooth, and divide the slate-clad elevations into 6 equal sections.
The Field House building is clad in Shingles on the southern elevation only.
East elevation view. Gorgeous and tall pillars are impressive.
