Victor Tan: "With the child sitting on the elephant’s head, I want to show the relationship between human and animals/nature. We co-exist on this earth and have a close knitted relationship, sharing and facing the world together and are interdependent. I hope the future generations will continue to be able to experience and enjoy nature and animals."

The flower pattern represents nature, earth, the forests, and our natural en- vironment. The dot pattern represents our heart, a state of mind, the collective consciousness of all people, and also, the elephant. Every single creature, man and animal, shares an equal right to the earth. It is a source of life; it nourishes and enriches. If we accept and share, we will all have a happier, fuller, better life.

Elephant Parade (Singapore 2011) is here! After the incredible success of previous Elephant Parades, it is time for our elephants to make their way to Asia. First stop: the Lion City, Singapore! From 11/11/11, a herd of over 100 brightly painted life-size elephants swarm the streets of Singapore for two months. It's the most colourful outdoor art exhibition (and probably the ‘heaviest’!) this city has ever seen.

It is Elephant Parade's mission to be the world's largest financial support organization for the Asian elephant, threatened with extinction. The open air art exhibitions create worldwide attention, public awareness and support for the cause of elephant conservation: the elephant statues never go unnoticed by the public.

Everyone can play a part to protect what is left of the Asian elephants and reverse the population decline. I want to bless them with a protective armour of colorful guardian angels to ensure that they will survive and flourish.

In the last 100 years, the number of Asian elephants in existence has fallen by 90%. Approximately 150,000 Asian elephants have died within the past 25 years and today there are fewer than 35,000 of these animals left in all of Asia. In Thailand there are only 4,000 elephants left, with only 1,500 living in the wild. Unless we act now, the Asian elephant will be extinct within a few decades.
