Saturday we took our students on a field trip to Sentul City to visit a drug rehab center called Yayasan Breakthrough Missions Indonesia or YBMI. I think it was a great exposure for our students to hear from patients that have been helped by YBMI; and to see the effects of drug addiction.
My internet speed was way too slow on the "broadband" cable provided by the local telephone company. This tower, about two miles from my house, provides wireless internet access but did not have a dish aimed in my direction. Fortunately I've got friends in high places!
Here is Van partway up the 200 foot tower.
The bigger bulbous dome at the top right is a microwave relay that communicates with the new home tower in Rockingham. The little white rectangular shaped dishes on the top are the internet signal antenna. There is also a radio antenna and some other dishes. I also learned the tower is in continuous contact with positioning satellites to maintain time accuracy to 1 millionth of a second. This is important for synchronizing send and recieve data. Guy wires can be seen supporting the tower. There is a frilly thing on top that helps diminish lightning strikes by diminishing electical charge. It is called a brush lightning dissipator. www.affordable-solar.com/gs-1.brush.lightning.dissipator.htm

This facility takes no funds from the government; it is sponsored totally by Christians. It was started by a Yayasan group; the same one that started UPH University. The Yayasan is a group of wealthy Christian business men that do special projects to start schools, universities, hospitals and missions. Once the mission was started, the continuing work is sponsored by local churches. Every patient that leaves the mission is a miracle of God.
