Digital Data Integration
Maria Jose Canet has been Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering in UPV since 2005. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Telecommunications Technology Engineering in 2001 and her Doctorate in 2007.
She develops her research at the Gandia Campus, within the Digital Systems Integration Group (GISED) of the Institute of Telecommunications and Multimedia Applications (iTEAM). Her research line is focused on Forward Error Correction (FEC) algorithms and architectures, radio software algorithms and architectures based on FPGA, arithmetic and DSP operators for FPGA.

USS Becuna (SS/AGSS-319), a Balao-class submarine, is a former ship of the United States Navy named for the becuna, a pike-like fish of Europe. Becuna (SS-319) was launched 30 January 1944 by Electric Boat Company, Groton, Connecticut, and commissioned 27 May 1944, Lieutenant Commander H. D. Sturr in command.
Becuna departed New London 1 July 1944 and arrived at Pearl Harbor 29 July. Her war operations extended from 23 August 1944 to 27 July 1945. During this period she completed five war patrols in the Philippines, South China Sea, and the Java Sea. Becuna is credited with having sunk two Japanese tankers totaling 3,888 tons.
The submarine arrived at Subic Bay, Luzon, from her last war patrol 27 July 1945. In September 1945 she arrived at San Diego, California.
Becuna received four battle stars for her World War II service.

My company, AVIX-RT, develops and markets an RTOS for Microchip PIC24/dsPIC microcontrollers. Since the main focus is on software, for hardware I am always looking for easy solutions where I do not have to spend a lot of time reaching my goals. I found such a solution with Schmartboard. Schmartboard enables me not only to create a converter, making it easier to work with SMD devices. Schmartboards offer much more than this. These boards allow me to put complete circuits on a single board reducing footprint and ‘Time to Prototype’, this all with minimal effort. This picture is from a USB to RS232 converter. See the attached URL for the schematic. In particular I installed the converter in a homemade footpedal to be used with Express Scribe transcription software, see attached URL. The homemade footpedal's connections hook up to the serial port of the converter; then the USB connector goes to a laptop's USB port
I wanted to prototype a USB interface chip to my microcontroller project. Not being familiar with SMT, I was surprised at how small the leads were on the package. There was no way I could solder a few wires on the chip and expect it to work. When I searched for solutions, I found SchmartBoard. Not only was the board the perfect solution, it was fun to use as well!
This was a MAX7705 2 channel 16 bit ADC, and it had 0.65mm pitch leads. I tried to solder wires directly to the leads but had no luck. Using the SchmartBoard? made the soldering relatively easy. See more at: www.schmartdeveloper.org/tiki-index.php?page=dave.hylands...

The circuit there was replacing a "stupid" PROM device with an in-circuit programmable FLASH device instead. Doing so made development with an FPGA much easier, and since the SchmartBoard's are so low cost it was cheaper too!
This project is an LCD Graphics display module. The LCD module is a 64128A, which provides 64 lines x 128 columns of APA graphics. With your own font table, 8 rows x 20 columns of text is available.
This is a 3.3V display, and the COG (chip on glass) display develops it's own drive signals. To interface the module, a simple parallel interface is required (8 data, RD, WR, CD and clock). or SPI can optionally be used.
An optional circuit is used to control the backlight from 5v, although 3.3v could also be used.
I have some processor modules in mind. Connect this LCD module up to a processor module.
