As I initially had some qualms to go and cut the guitar up or drill holes into it, I tried out this cheap humucker pick-up with built-in volume and tone controlls. It's originally intended for the neck-position, but as I couldn't think of a non-invasive method of attaching the PU to the end of the neck, and the PU turned out to be too thick to fit under the string at the neck anyway, I tried this method: I turned the insides of the PU around so that the bass- and treble ends would be in the right posistions when turning the PU upside-down and using it in the bridge position, and I attached a wooden plate to the underside that allowed me to use this extension as an anchor under the floating bridge.
